Its not just economic deal. But economic development also for india...
by james on Aug 23, 2007 12:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

N deal with usa will not only bring enough energy to meet the future demand ,but also to make a firm economic ties with usa and its rich allies. Now all the european countries and developed countries in asia like japan, sputh korea and australia and making their move to invest a lot of money in indian market.THIS IS ALL ONLY BECOZ OF N-DEAL WITH USA.

Credibility of india is approved world wide now.The biggest prob for communist to oppse this deal is simple.
1.India will emerge as a super power in economy in competing with china. As this is a smart move by usa to check china and its power in asia.
2.USA is in a verge to power an ally which can check the economy and supermacy of china.Mostly European countries,Japan, australia are behing usa and india.
3.By all means it is advantage for india.BE CAN IMPROVE OUR STATUS FROM THIRD WORLD COUNTRY TO A DEVELOPED COUNTRY BY THE AID OF THESE RICH COUNTRIES AND USE THIS DEAL SMARTLY.

If we do not get this deal we ll spend another 10 years in the dark without electricity till we have the technology to generate power by using Thorium. We still do not have the final tech to generate power through these Fast Breeder Reactors. We should take this deal to generate power and speed up the research on fast breeder reactors so that as soon as we have the production capabalities using thorium based technology we can just stop importing uranium. But right now we need Uranium based tech so that we get power and we are nt left behind and go back to the dark ages... and yah this deal is only civilian so no need to worry abt military nuclear instalations. n we are free to test nuclear weapons. the Hyde Act is just a cosmetic effect by the US government to shut the mouths of the Non proliferation hawks in washington who are opposing this deal tooth n nail... The US understand it has no leverage to stop India from testing weapons and it dosnt want to risk billions of dollars of investment by imposing nay sanctions. remember 1998 aftre the tests the imposed sanctions but had to bite the dust and remove sanctions after realizing it was their industries that were suffering.. so be cool and just use this deal to the maximum and do not let the commies Headless Chickens take India back to the dark ages.

Happy Days Are Here Again

Every person rises to the level of his or her incompetence.Every nation rises to level of her stupidity.

Its been only sixty years since you got rid of the foreign domination and now you want to put the clock back. Its same old wine packaged in a new bottle.

Lets assume you set up civilian nuclear plants worth 20 bilion US dollars. Now US wants you to follow her, unreasonable, immoral position or wants to aid in some war with men or material or wants to bomb inside India some alleged 'terrorist ' targets ,as it just happened to Pakistan.

What India is going to do ?

India would not be in a position to say 'no' because US would undoubtedly recite provisions of Hyde Act and would want you to dismantle your nuclear thing.India would have two choices either follow US Policy or lose 20 billion dollars investment and face a major upheaval.

In essence,India is just setting herself up for coercion, exploitation just for a fistful of dollars.

Jehan Mir, u have revealed ur Paki roots. For ur info, Pak took money from US to spend on luxuries. It is abankrupt country surviving on US or western props. India is taking technology from US and in years to come, will not only master this tech but will better it. The US is not dependent on Pak hence uses it like a condom. US has business interests in India &We r actually increasing the costs for US.Indo US Deal is not a 1 way street.

Besides, Nuclear energy is one aspect. This deal allows India to export reactors, Space research and development increases as India is gets dual use tech, denied to it for 30 years. Without this tech, we developed to the present extent. With this tech, we will grow by leaps and bounds. This deal benefits India in agriculture, biosciences and medicine. it is about increasing the shelf life of a product through irradiation technology. It is about sharing the technology of the developed nations, which was denied to us for 60 years. It is about New India.

There is a difference ina beggar borrowing money & a country entering a deal with another country on equal footing.US is also dependent on India for many things. So costs of imposing sanctions on India will effect US too.
NPT is an international treaty & all countries comply these incld. Russia/china.U must realise that the world cannot change laws just to accomodate India. Yet this is precisely what is being done with NDeal. It favors India even when we hv not signed NPT.
Yis ur ass burning?

i do see a clever argument but you are totally wornge!!India needs 3 things for its economy, inductry, jobs, poverty elimination in rural areas..those are power ,power and power, now with this climate change debate, india needs clean power...THE ONLY SOLUTION IS NUCLEAR POWER,YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT..but USA is the super power and once USA helps India to get through IAEA and NSG(45 countries have to approve, who else apart from USA can do that),the India can buy nuclear fuel and technology fron USA,FRANCE,Russia etc.60 years we were denied this technology and power.

So what is your problem man..yes if somebody gives me power to reduce our problems, FDI,jobs by out sourcing, international influence,TAKING HUNDREDS OF IMMIGRANTS to their country(even our own Haneef wants to go back to australia after all the issues) and offer stratergic arms to counter hostile neighbours the n i will make friends with them and ABOVE ALL FIGHTING FANATIC ISLAMIC TERRORISAM.in this case its USA.I support all the governments who are for this friendship like my fellow majority indians,There is nothing to be ashamed of Indo-USA friendship!!Iam proud of that!!

Only 2 nations in the whole world are opposing this Indo US nuclear deal, China and Pakistan.... China has the Most Favored NAtion status with the US and opposes the same status for India. China has got a similar nuclear deal with the US bt opposes the deal with India... Jyoiti Basu of CPM protested against Indian defence againt chinese invasion of india in 1962 and was jailed by Nehru for anti India activities. Basu went on to become the CM of bengal. Commies never condemn Chinese claim of arunachal Pradesh whn the people themselves want top be part of India.. CPM opposes Indian nuclear progress bt has no problems with Chinas nuclear arming of pakistan whch are targeted towards India and supports iranian nuclear program. The communists oppose ndustrialiazation in India and went on killing 100's of poor farmers in Singur and Nandigram tryin to grab farmers fertile land for setting up industries. Commies are ruling bengal for more than 30 years now and have reduced bengal from being the finest to being the poorest.. Only big industry in commie ruled states bangal and kerala are trade unions and their number one product is strikes and bandh. Commies vociferously opposed introduction of computers by rajiv gandhi, commies cald computers as evil and against national interest. Commies neva condemned chinese invasion of India in 1962. Commies do not recognize aksai chin in kashmir as part of india. And yes the commies got a new name now "Headless Chickens and Spineless Morons".

Let Industry lead the way.........Make Communists an extinct species in India.
by vikas sethi on Aug 23, 2007 12:12 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Just wondering, why does not the Indian industry boycott the commies states. As a policy decision, they should unite and should not set up any new industry in the 3 states (Bengal, Kerala, Tripura), despite the short term benefits the commies may offer. Tell the people, we are doing so bcos of the anti development and anti national communist policies. It will cause inconvenience to the public at large for some time, but over a period of time they will realise there is no progress with commies at the head.People will automatically vote the commies out. It will also serve as a wake up call to other political parties that progress is the mantra for growth.Do not take the people of India for granted.

As a beginning, all donations to the communists parties should be frozen by the Industry. No donations, no money, less their campaigning power.

This suggestion may sound impractical at first thought, but think again.......

If the communists have been wiped out of the world map, why should India tolerate them.

I am not sure if Left Front is representing India or China. Their every deed makes us feel that their only best interest is to safe guard China.

BJP! Pity on them. They are so complex, even God will have hard time understanding them. At few times they behave alright but if it comes to oppose congress, they can even trade India.

No surprise! Left front leaders are already best know as traitors. However BJP who hails for strong and powerful India are definitely weakening its roots.

Come-on boys, behave and start working in interest of India. There are certain deeds above politics, when it comes to sovernity of India.

We Indians will not pay price for your (BJP and Left Front) misdeeds. Either behave and act or you will be rooted out.

The BJP and CPI,CPI(M)-supporter of UPA Govt. has asked the Govt not to accept the deal in its December 2006 form,as it stiputates some conditions, insome areas, which have more severe clauses in NPT on the Conventional Test Ban Treaty.Several top Indian Nuclear scientists have written an appeal to Indian parliamentarians to ensure that the treaty will not prohibit India`s future ability to develop and pursue nuclear technologies for the benefit of the Nation. The US is the most cunning and untrustworthy nation as it is evident from the happenings of World history. There is nonecessity to be a communist to see the simple fact of danger to our Nation. Priority should given to National security over an energy issue. If Nation is lost--what do we do with the enormous energy.Further-the quantum of energy is very meager and without any assurance of sustained supply of energy forever. My question is whether we shall fall in US trap? or Sacrifice our sovereignty. When Hyde act was passed we were told it was an internal matter that did not concern India. But it has been formally admitted that they could not go outside the frame work of Hyde Act. 123 agreement rules out transfer of any sensitive nuclear technology, consent to reprocessing facility and many other implications.Govt should clarify the implications before finalising and executing the N-deal.

Mr. Shadow pls come under the sun. We have 30% of world's Thorium reserves. We will be self reliant only once our Thorium reactors come in force which is some yrs away. But even this technology would require some (nominal) use of Plutonium for the initial cycle. The idea is to generate this from reproceesed spent fuel & use it in Thorium reactors. Hence, in Ndeal we insisted on reprocessing rights over the spent nuclear fuel so that we have enough Plutonium to run our Thorium reactors. Our own meager Uranium reserves will then be purely for military use.We have only 0.8% of world reserves that cannot last long & serve both civilian & defence purpose. What do u propose to do once our Uranium reserves r exhausted??? Sit with folded hands & beg the world for relief & u expect the same countries to come to help u when u r weak & vulnerable & dependent on them. Talk sense Sir. If 2day frm position of strength u cannot talk what will happen then??

How will u overcome your energy needs till the thorium reactors come into operation???

Don't talk like an idiot - Thorium is unproven technology and not a single KW of electricity gets produced commercially nor do I believe India's scientists have wherewithal to exploit that. Lets not forget that India's first bomb was built using US gifted reactor and Uranium and they still could not do much about it. Furthermore - once you have the Uranium, power automatically shifts to you. Conducting nuclear test is a theoretical possibility and if we need to do , no one can stop that. US has a right after that to have good relationship with India or not and how US reacts to India will depend on how rich and powerful we are then. Hopefully we would be by then. So Shadow - you seem to be either an Islamist or a Chinese agent - both of which are enemies of India. 95% of educated Indians support the deal.

I think its upto US to terminate the deal whenever it feels like. India has a right to terminate the deal as well. You do not get into a marriage with the assumption that it will end in divorce in which case it certainly will. US is giving Uranium to India for commercial and strategic reasons and India needs these technologies primarily because 1) we do not have U235 2) we are running out of water 3) use of coal and fossil fuel for generating power is already destroying environment in South Asia and is not a good idea to piss in your own pond.
But - nothing in the act says India cannot test nuclear weapons. All its says is that US can terminate the deal and take back balance material at cost price - and this clause is just to satisfy the US Congress. Anyone with half a brain will tell you that once you have nukes - no one will dare act funny with you. Ever wondered why Pakistan gets away with murder ?
