Look at the people responding on this website. Not one discussion can be called civilized. And these are the so called educated masses. People who understand a foreign language (English), can type on a keyboard and have access to Internet.
So before commenting on netas look at the janta janardan... It is the people of India who have selected these netas.
And contempt is a big word for these netas. They are uneducated thugs who join politics for one simple reason - Amass power and money by any means. And that's all they care for.
I dare people to respond to this message - if they HAVE to - in a civilized manner.

Yes. The basic problem is that We Indians are not debating the national priorities. Most of our focus are diverted to Reservations, Quotas, Religoius issues, Issues related so-called celebrities and the likes... Since the Nethas and even the media are not setting healthy debaes of National importance, at least we, the common people have to discuss them and create awareness and form judgements based on debates... If we simply depend on the Nethas and the so-called intellectuals to guide the nation, then we may not have anything good left for our next generations..

Well said, most of the people who comments are baised based on religion, state, caste.
I strongly believe what you said, it is the people especially the educated mass who are resposible for all the things that happen in India. Those who talk big things will be amongst to first one to pay "EXTRA" to local hawaldar, Teshsil office, Local Neta, passport office wala, Traffic halwadar, Local school management, Lisence office, Rasan card wala etc etc.
Before blaming the netas one should blame those who elected him.
Being an NRI I know many indians who make hue and cry about Indian politics, Local Police wala, custom wala etc. But the moment they land in India they are amongst the first one to pay money to hawaldar at Airport, they pay the potter to move there baggage, they pay the custom wala $'s to get through the green channel. Once out of the plane they are the first one to push each other in queue.
Dare to do the same in US, people's dirty look itself will make you feel ashamed...

I remember back in 1997, when i refused to give bribe to a ration card clerk, the guys standing in line behind me got upset with me. They thought I was holding up the line and were angry that I made a fuss about giving bribe. They wanted me to give bribe and move on. What message they were giving to the ration clerk ? that it is ok to take bribe and I was wrong by refusing to give in. I threatned to file a case of bribery against the clerk and created a big ruckus, immediately his supervisor intervened and assured me that my ration card will be issued without problem. Indian public forgets one thing : The person demanding bribe has much more to lose if you complain against him. If anyone one asks you bribe in airport or any public place the advantage is yours. Create a scene and see how they panic. If we do not collectively resist it is only us who are to blame.

Nicely said. Some of the people here are, like you put it, just those with internet access and a modicum understanding of English. Worse, they cannot articulate what they want to say 'in a civilised manner'; leave aside atrocious grammar etc. Unfortunately, the more we set aside quotas, the more we'll have such people to contend with. It is going to take at least one geneation of properity and well-fed stomachs before these 'educated illiterates' will gain some civil manners. Cest la vie!
The criminal neglect and indifference towards these long suffering people by successive Cong govts is nothing short of inhuman. Not only has the netas and babus stolen most of the money meant for the poor suffering VICTIMS, but the criminal govt refused to prosecute anyone, as the plant was a Joint venture between govt and Union Carbide. No govt in this filthy land is held accountable for anything, despite the thousands of such tragedies, after all, this is India, where live is not only very, very, very cheap - it's practically worth nothing - even the life of a bullock have more value than humans - bullocks earn their masters money, and can be discarded like uselss rubbish when they're old and decrepid, but what's the value of human life?
