Japan's Economic Importance
by on Aug 31, 2007 03:48 PM  Permalink

At long last India is moving closer to the economic powers that really matter. We have had a very long period of being close to the wrong kind of powers like Russia, China, Iran etc. With the growing economic ties between the USA and India we are now moving away from the nations that have failed to develop economically. Japan stands next only to the USA in economic importance according to the Global Policy Forum. The power situation is going to get worse in the next few years and the only alternative is to generate more nuclear power. India should be following the example of USA and France that have taken the nuclear route to generate a substantial amount of the total power they produce. According to latest statistics India ranks 18th in the pecking order of nuclear power generation. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/eco_eco_imp-economy-economic-importance#definition

His grandfather Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi visited Delhi 50 years ago, in 1957, and had a new chapter ?
by Dinesh Solanki on Aug 23, 2007 08:25 AM  Permalink

I had read somewhere that Japanese PM's visit in 1957 was to convince Nehru not to go socialistic way on behalf of western alliance but Nehru rejected with some arrogance and since then Japan became cold. It was one more killing of relations by Nehru just because he did not nelieve in listening to anybody. No wonder we never got support from West . China & Kashmir goof up by Nehru are well known to recount when our so called friends Egypt and Yugoslavia refused to condemn Chinese aggression. Seeing from historical perspective , it is good that instead of keeping wrong company, India at last is learning the art of permanent Interests in foreign policy. Can someone throw more light on visit opf Japanese PM on 1957 ?

Nuclear deal
by Batman on Aug 22, 2007 11:28 AM  Permalink

If we do not get this deal we ll spend another 10 years in the dark without electricity till we have the technology to generate power by using Thorium. We still do not have the final tech to generate power through these Fast Breeder Reactors. We should take this deal to generate power and speed up the research on fast breeder reactors so that as soon as we have the production capabalities using thorium based technology we can just stop importing uranium. But right now we need Uranium based tech so that we get power and we are nt left behind and go back to the dark ages... and yah this deal is only civilian so no need to worry abt military nuclear instalations. n we are free to test nuclear weapons. the Hyde Act is just a cosmetic effect by the US government to shut the mouths of the Non proliferation hawks in washington who are opposing this deal tooth n nail... The US understand it has no leverage to stop India from testing weapons and it dosnt want to risk billions of dollars of investment by imposing nay sanctions. remember 1998 aftre the tests the imposed sanctions but had to bite the dust and remove sanctions after realizing it was their industries that were suffering.. so be cool and just use this deal to the maximum and do not let the commies Headless Chickens take India back to the dark ages.

The American, Japan contribution with India is less comparatively with China.
by mr on Aug 22, 2007 12:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The American, Japan contribution with India is less comparatively with China. It needs more improvement. Being first & second in economy, they could have contributed more for fair trade rules.
China has 1.3 b, India has 1.2b.
See the trade gap between China & US
See the trade gap between China & Japan
Then compare it with
trade gap between China & US
trade gap between China & Japan
You know the difference.

you want to compare the trade gap with China & US with that of China & US again? It is like comparing 1 with 1. Both are the same. There is no difference.

Chinese are Greedy!
by Julius on Aug 21, 2007 09:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Chinese leadership is getting greedy and wants all resources, attention, power and control for itself in the region now, then Asia and eventually the whole world. Chinese suspicions about India is a drama to just find an excuse for their further escapades!!! They would never be able to live peacefully if they have anti-India policies in the future. Their leadership has been very slow in realizing this. But for their own benefit they should realize sooner than later. Otherwise, their ambition of being a rich and powerful country will go unfulfilled by middle of this millennium. Eventually China has to rely on Indian trade as India will have highest youngest population in the world which is working its way up the economic ladder.

china is an unprincipled country. what makes it dangerous is that it is ruthless in the persuit of its self-interest. killing a fellow human being who might stand in its way comes quite naturally to them - just like mohamadism. however, that makes the chinese the ultimate realist. hence only a very strong india will stop the chinese in their evil tracts, and thus, india has no choice to be strongest it can be, and time may not be on india' side.
