The Left's 'death of a 1,000 cuts'
by Narinder Ailawadi on Aug 22, 2007 12:02 AM  Permalink

I have never supporter of Congress policy - from terrorism, its appeasement of minorities, its rural employment genration schemes to quotas & reservations in education & jobs. on the nuclear agreement, I vote with the PM. At the very least, with this treaty, US is not going hong and tong in isolating India and denying it the technology that may be useful in other areas of development, e.g., space program. It is worth reminding every body that the technology that enabled China to shoot down a satellite was obtained from US. This treaty breaks the technology denial regime that the US led against India until now. For just this feat alone, Dr Singh deserves kudos from all the well-meaning people of India. India does not necessarily have to import nuclear reactors - they are too expensive, take as long as 10 years to build, and cost per kwh much higher than alternate and/or trditional sources, like coal. The fact that India will be able to import technology - particularly dual use technology - is reason enough to support the deal. Further, this deal is an enabler for additional FDI investment in India; indian enterprenaurs should take advantage of chinese discomfort in several recent product recalls to bring manufaturing peoposals to US companies, because only manufacturing is going to alleviate rural/poor/unskiled unemployment. Software & pharma industries may be greate name brands but they provide jobs to the very skilled and in relativelymuch smaller numbers than manufacturing

not a good enough to be prime minister
by Gundu on Aug 21, 2007 11:54 PM  Permalink

mr. singh has tried to do good this time, but he has no common sense. The government will fall or it will rot for the next two years. Even if singh signs the agreement now the new government can undo what he did. He is not fit to be a prime minister .

Its a big mess!
by on Aug 21, 2007 11:43 PM  Permalink

Very well put.

Working with governments abroad is a business affair, especially with the US. Irrespective of whether the 123 agreement is good or bad for India, dog fights of PM and his Chinese Pals (CPI/M) in street is watched carefully. This is dragging credibility down for India, as a nation, in eyes of foreign governments.

Speaker %u2018Cha Ter Lee%u2019 (aka Somnath Chatterjee) always seen instructing on correcting behavior. How about your own party members doing it outside?

Cry my beloved country. This is the worst breed of rulers in history.

Is it right to be with Left?
by rajindranath nambiar on Aug 21, 2007 11:35 PM  Permalink

Firstly, the whole idea of the Left party is to help the laborers. No wonder why they cripple states like West Bengal and Kerala. Their survival is totally based on laborers and hence they do not want these class of people to make enough money and to achieve a good lifestyle. Any political party which wants to form a government at the center by taking support of Left parties must know one thing for sure that they will not rule for the complete 5 years. So now that Left has started to send tremors to the ruling government, this must not come as a surprise to most people......as all were expecting this to happen some day or the other.... And as a closing note, wanted tell all the Congress supporters that congress were very obstructive as opponent in the parliament and so are BJP now. So there is no point in behaving strange to such irresponsible act in our parliament. BJP must also be shameful of being obstructive to the proceeding of our parliament and so must any other who indulge in the same. Foe heavens sake, do understand that people have handed our our country to you guys and hence be responsible to what you do.

>>>>>The Left is nobody's darling, least of all that of the media. >>>>>>>Shenoy

How can you make such a statement... Media has always been indifferent to the Indian people, as Indian people have long been crying about pseudo-secularism, and Minority appeasement of the media... Geez this media couldn't have even able to land an interview with Sonia gandhi, apart from the one from Devil's advocate.. There is a woman who rein supreme in Delhi, without any accountability to the people...Furthermore, The media is an old establishment, and friendly of the left... What is the "The Hindu", NDTV, CNN_IBN run by two baptist convert couple, Star one, and so on...

Sonia made enough money in this job to loan Rajiv funds in London, who was obviously living beyond his allowances [Indira herself expressed anguish to me on this score in late 1965 when she invited me to a private tea at the Guest House in Brandeis University]. Rajiv's letters to Sanjay, who was also in London then, clearly indicate that he was in financial debt to Sonia because he requested Sanjay who obviously had more access to money, to pay off the debt.
However, Rajiv was not the only friend Sonia was seeing those days. Madhavrao Scindia and a German by name Stiegler are worth mentioning as other good friends of Sonia. Madhavrao's friendship continued even after Sonia's marriage to Rajiv. Scindia in 1982 was involved in a traffic accident near IIT, Delhi main gate while driving a car at 2 AM. Sonia was the only other passenger. Both were badly injured. A student of IIT who was burning midnight oil was out for a cup of coffee. He picked them up from the car, hailed an auto rickshaw and sent an injured Sonia to Mrs Indira Gandhi's house since she insisted in not going to a hospital. Madhavrao had broken a leg and in too much pain to make any demand. He was taken to hospital by the Delhi Police who had arrived a little after Sonia had left the scene. In later years, Madhavrao had become privately critical of Sonia, and told some close friends about his apprehensions about Sonia. It is a pity that
he died in mysterious circumstances in an aircrash.

thums up to u ...what a information you have..From where did you find all this stuff...share such website on this forum...this Sonya Antonio later went on saying that she is not looking at PM post coz of her inner voice(i.e. F.A.R.T.)..but actuallly she was denied to claim PM by President Kalaam..Section 5 of the Citizenship Act, dealing with the reciprocity clause for a person who registered herself as an Indian citizen, says the said person could not enjoy more rights than those available to an Indian born person in that other country if he/she acquires citizenship of that country, like Italy for instance..
