I wish some one could speak for children as they are really silent sufferers at the hands of resident Indian mothers and family. They are routinely abused,hurt,humiliated and insulted by mothers for there stupid gains and some of mother take pride in selling there own children%u2019s flesh and blood to please there BF and other male members of family. This is common occurrence and it has been proved beyond doubt that sexual abuse b male member of family in single parent family is rule rather than exception. Aging wife, pregnant wife and some just do it for fun as they can get away without any punishment and even children are primed that if they are good children. they have to do every thing to please so called uncles and BF of mothers who routinely copulate with so called cousins and others as she is one who chose to stay away form father of chiller and father was just a stepping stoke to advance her qualifications and get a visa and now money for settlement etch. People like Vasant Rokade/Narendra Rokade(Lions%u2019 Club Fame)/Kalpana Bhange(Anandnagar Pune Fame) from satara and his mates know that this is best way they could maintain there upper middle class living. The parents are responsible not the Orkut. The kidnappers , if they are his Orkut buddies, abused Orkut as much as himself. The latter is for sure. 16 is too early for night outs with unknown fellows. So the parents are the one to be blamed more than Orkut. Keep a watch on your children, it is your responbsibility,

How much wsatch can u keep on your kids? Dont they have others things to do? They can watch a kid for 12 to 18 hrs of the day but what about the rest of the 6 hours? Tell me if you had a kid what time will you be able to spend with him? Dont you have a Job to do? Dont you have debts to pay? May be not you but what about others? They do have lot of other things? Only possible way is to keep him totaly away from the internet and other social medias. I am not accusing orkut or you but there are more dreadful sites then orkut present on the internet. Something has to be done. The road is not easy. Orkut being mass popular is surely to be held responsible. I have seen sites which are more responsible. They will never allow you to post your contact information unless you have a valid credit card to prove that you are not a minor and then you need to pay. These sites use heavy filter on emails and Chat. Orkut and other sites need to take such meassure to avoid such things. This is not the first time its happening with Orkut. And besides everything a parent can do about hi schild, vunerablities of orkuts are exploited by senseless criminals. I know orkut and myspace are brilliant site...But i truely believe that they are CURSED.

Mukund Rathi, I completely agree with you. It also becomes childrens responsibility to look after themselves and avoid girlfriends at an age of 16. Time is just not ripe for that. Why dont kids understand that. Perhaps, the modern technology has to be blamed for inciting such wild things into young minds. Parents should sit with their children and talk to them about misusing internet and the dangerous repercussions it can cause. Parents also need to keep a watch on the sites that their Kids browse frequently and warn them. If they continue to do so, then Internet access at home should be denied to them till they mature or block such sites.
You cannot blame ORKUT or the social media for all the bad things that happen. Criminals like these who trap children should be mercilessly hanged, this will instill fear in the minds of others.

I still dont understand what orkut had to do with this. Orkut is not the only place where ppl meet and befriend strangers. You can do that out on the streets as well! I jus think its not about orkut but being careful and wary of ppl in general. Such things can happen to anybody, anywhere. Everybody has got an account on the internet somewhere. If not on orkut, then rediff or yahoo or whatever.You basically need to wary of ppl whereever you meet them. Even if its at your office/college. Thats the bottomline.

I dont agree with you. It is the only place which people can reamain anonymous n unlike other meeting place. this encourages criminal activity in the people with bad intention. children are not exposed to these wolves n easily fall prey. consequently a bad culture , mistrust, criminal activity sets in society and we encourage the same and refuse to take any action against this pretending to intelluctuals. This is really not coorect. How can u blame orkut?Orkut is a social site where people can make friends very easily. It is not there to do all such wrong things. Some people use it in wrong way. Go and catch that guy instead of blaming orkut. Really not fair.

this is true. one is blaming site then u wuold blame telephone company. then u wuold blame electricity , ur computer ,ur internet connection ,ur hardware this list go on. instead of finding fault in site or other thin one shuold try to find criminals . we all shuold build morality in society and not just blamingsite. need of hour is to stop corruption and make a cleaner cuontry and not banning yse of technology.
Another Richie Rich Teen has paid the price?. I feel terribly sorry for the parents. They should have been more careful with him since he is vulnerable to prying eyes just 16 and they have let loose of him.
