We should move on, not paralyse ourselves with analysis
by Sharad on Aug 20, 2007 09:00 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We should move on. Get the deal, build the nation and make every Indian wealthy.

No nation can afford to use nuclear weapon. If any nation uses it, all bets are off. If we master the nuclear technology for civilian use in the next two decades, we will be our own masters. Everybody is assuming that we are not capable of developing our own technology in the future. We just need a vibrant industry, schools of education, and a spirit of capitalism and enterprise to develop anything. If China can develop it in 40 years, we can be leaders like Japan in the next 25 years, if only we focus on the right things instead of getting paralysed by analysis.

Concern are not about using nuclear weapon. Its about being victim of it and possessing minimum deterrance against it. If we are capable of developing our own technology why do we need this deal? Our energy needs can be very well ful-filled by Petroleum and Natural gas atleast for few years and mean while we shall have our own technology. If we sign the deal, there is no gurantee of power being cheaper, there is no guarantee of having power supply very soon (that also will take about 5-10 years). So why such a deal which will be obsolate in near future? Just to please USA and NSGs?

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ANNOY THE UNITED STATES
by Mikkey Moouse on Aug 20, 2007 08:51 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

AND ITS ALLIES THE EUROPEAN UNION, JAPAN & SOUTH KOREA WITHOUT VERY SERIOUS ECONOMIC REPURCUSSIONS.

THE 1ST NUCLEAR REACTOR AT TARAPUR - DONATED BY AMERICA

THE TEJJAS & DHRUVV HELICOPTER - RUNNING ON AMERICAN ENGINES

AMERICA THE LARGEST INVESTOR IN INDIA

AMERICA THE LARGEST OUTSOURCER TO INDIA

AMERICA IS THE LARGEST AID DONOR TO INDIA

GREATEST NUMBER OF INDIANS LIVING ABROAD - AMERICA

GREATEST NUMBER OF STUDENTS FROM INDIA STUDYING ABROAD - AMERICA

WILL ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT SENSES RISK ANNOYING THE USA & ITS ALLIES FOR PLEASING A BUNCH OF RIFF-RAFF COMMUNISTS BACKED BY JEHADI FUNDAMENTALISTS, INHABITING MUD-HUTS IN CALCUTTA ?

RUSSIA IS FINISEHD ECONOMICALLY AND DEPENDS ON THE USA, EUROPE & JAPAN FOR INVESTMENTS TO KEEP ITS ECONOMY AFLOAT. AND NO ONE GETS ANY USEFUL BENEFITS FROM CHINA - JUST HUGE LOAD OF CHEAP PLASTIC TOYS DUMPED IN THE MARKET PLUS RISK OF SNATCHING OF TERRITORY LIKE TIBET WHEN POSSIBLE.

i agree what u say but What the Hyde acts says that if any country does nuclear tests US will stop supporting nuclear supplies.. What's wrong with that
We shouldnt forget we live in a danger zone (war area ) where we should have freedom to update urself with new modern defence sysytem
u know , which is the biggest reason that we are still in peace , thats nuclear power.
world and we also not ready to do,that keeps us away from the war
these are thoughts of great president Abul Kalam

from b. v. trivedi
by Barindranath Trivedi on Aug 20, 2007 08:27 AM  Permalink

I think as Mr. P. V. N. former PM had taken BJP into confidence and run the govt., the congress should take NDA or BJP into confidence and with their support the deal should be through. BJP and NDA also should not oppose for the sake of opposition and come forward and support the govt. on the deal in the interest of the nation. Blow up the hollowness of left arguments and see that they are marginalised totally.
In future I see that congress and BJP should work togather in the interest of the country.

congress messes up the nuke deal that bjp started
by Pradip Parekh on Aug 20, 2007 04:50 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

bjp's wonderful foreign affairs machine crafted a beautiful deal with the usa since bill clinton's time. unfortunately, the strong resistance in the u.s. congress , specially by some jewish congressmen like lantos, slowed the process down considerably. the bjp couldn't quite finish what it started wonderfullly, but it handed to the succeeding congressi govt on a platter all the framework. however, congressis have no knack for negotaition and conceded many tactical points and let the deal start to slip.

the right thing to do would be get rid of this govt by unelected hangers-on like mm singh & co., and re-elect a good bjp govt (vajpayee and advani, pls retire to himalayas) which will most certainly give india a very handsome nuke deal.

UPA gove. must make the whole India know what the deal is exactly , why Manmohan is showing its commitment for America not his own country ?
by shyam Singh on Aug 20, 2007 01:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

1. Make the report public .
2. UPA gove. dont show egerness to sign because it is not issue of one govement or party.

3. It is a National issue ,Their must be public debate on this.

4. Dont hide anything from the country in the hurry of signing the deal & showing that as an achivement of one Govement.

This person is a closet Commie.
by Vishnu Sharma on Aug 20, 2007 12:53 AM  Permalink

Since he was a former ambassador. It clearly shows his old-fashioned mentality.
I am 99% guessing that he is a JNU graduate.

India should do it all to avoid being used as a doormat in US policy in the Asia-Pacific region. China's rise is phenomenal. India must come to terms with it in a constructive and positive spirit. (Blah.... Blah....)

Actually, the US itself has no choice but to work with China on the world stage. Let us not forget that China holds over $900 billion in US treasury bonds. China's manufacturing subsidises the US consumer.

China acquiesces with the pretentious role of the American dollar in the world economy. Americans of insight realise this.

Thus, it is nothing short of lunacy on our part to imagine that there is scope for India to garner US goodwill by partaking of any 'containment' of China.

OK Mr. Ambassador. When we see the Chinese we are going to quake in our boots and not give our selves any opportunity to develop.

What has OUR DEVELOPMENT got to do With CHINESE CONTAINMENT.
The CHINESE should not view our development as a threat to them
They NEED TO grow up.

Such people like Mr. Bhadrakumar should be given exit visas to China and asked NOT to return.
We should airdrop this person in the Yellow river.

nukes are they important
by deep rain on Aug 19, 2007 11:22 PM  Permalink

ok now this hell has broke out from some where. I need to know is this all hulla gulla really for getting fuel for generating only power. Is there any other alternate enrgy availabe which can be brought to the country or develeoped here what abt green energy y not to make use of that energy extensively and generate the required power without bowing to any foreign power. Second thing is y cant we make our own nuke fuel to run our reactors.Coming to left they have always been critising for the sake of criticism and now if they really feel that it is gainst the countries interests then y dont they withdraw support and let the electrorate decide once more who should run the country.y crocodile tears for the country in the guise they are helping china's agenda.Second thing is simple let the deal go ahead for now and when the need of testing comes that time US make stop the fuel . ok till that time the energy crisis can be over.Stupid yechury and co cant think simple things.
