How to decide
by Ashish on Aug 19, 2007 05:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The CPI M is opposing. So it must definately be good for India. About BJP I am sure their MPs dont even know what a nuclear reactor is. All they know is about temples and riots. Doubt if anyone among them even know what thorium or uranium mean.

Our scientists have approved of the deal and they know what we want. This time atleast I am supporting congress

No harm in an open debate, but why not have it in the Parliament first?
by nandu rajurikar on Aug 19, 2007 05:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

An open debate on nuclear deal won't harm India. Perfectly correct.

Then what was going on in last few months?

Nuclear scientists had some doubts about the deal. They were discussed on TV channels. PM addressed all their points.

Left had objections.

PM made a speech in Parliament & Left nodded its head in consent.

Again there were objections from Left & BJP.

PM addressed all those issues in Parliament. BJP shouted slogans as usual. Left joined the slogan shouting. Debate can happen only by asking questions & listening to replies.

No one expects decent arguments from BJP in Parliament. We don't even expect decent behaviour from BJP.

But why is the Left shying away from debate. They were as unruely as BJP during PM's speech. Why cann't they have a debate first in Parliament? Then come for an open debate in Press or TV.

Neither BJP nor Left will welcome an open debate. Because they will have to read the deal. then analyse & interprete it. How many MPs have read the deal? How many will understand it?

When one TV channel asked BJP MPs the details of the deal, they ran away from camera. The supporters of the deal are equally ignorant. One MP talked about Chromium reactor!

Barring a few studious MPs, most of them do not know how many civil & military nuclear reactors India has. They donot know what is a fast breeder reactor. What the hell are they going to debate about?

There is one thing within their reach. Shout & shout at the top of their voic

I fully agree, nothing less than Dr Anil Kakodkar was part of Indian team negotiating 123 deal. ( Present Chairman AEC)

Ifully agree to u Mr Nandu. Its really shame ful to see people not knowing ABC of this deal shouting on top of their voice and opposing the same barring few real intellectual politicians. Did u hear that the third front has also started opposing the deal.I dont know when our political parties will start behaving in a mature way and play the role of a positive resposible opposition party.Remember when we went on conflict in Kargil our political parties were busy throwing mud on each other instead of being together during the time of national crises. They all talk of US and the western world and also visit the same on sarkari money at the first opportunity be it Communists or others(they dont have any reservations then ) but what they dont learn the mature way the politicians behave in these countries. After 9/11 not even a single opposition leader made comments against the ruling party in US and they all showed that they are all together at the time of crises. There might have been in house difference of opinions which never became public. But here in India immediately after a blast these opposition leaders will come out with a statement that ruling party should resign and that its an intelligence failure. It takes years for the investigating agencies to find out the cause and investigate the case but these politicians give their judgement witih hrs of the incident. But for these irresponsible politicians India would have been a super power by now....

LET US BE CLEAR......
by UmaShankar SathyaKumar on Aug 19, 2007 04:57 PM  Permalink

In the real NEW world, America need India and India need America.... In a multi-polar world, America has very few friends...countless enemies....It is necessary and in the best interest of Americans to work with Indians to be friends...

The US government debt grows by about $1.3 billion per day and has now crossed more than $13.2 trillion dollars. The US private household debt has now crossed more than $14.7 trillion and half of these debts have been incurred after 1998. The fact is that the expanding consumer debt drives the US economy. The US treasury receives about $1.3 trillion from taxes, the Indo-US nuclear deal is $25 billions and there are several sales by US to follow such as Boeing planes, F-16s, space technology..... The US now very desperately needs a growing partner and friendly country to make more money with depleting US economy. Also, a big voice to support its decisions from Asia on its foreign policies.

America is bankrupt. So, they need ASIAN money to buy their bread and butter by selling Nuke or whatsoever technology....

There is nothing wrong to get the nuke technology. If they try to screw India, screw them back like they have done to Germans in 1940-70's. USE AMERICA....

The lefts in Bengal made millions poor!! That%u2019s their big achievement to date..... Please.... NEVER VOTE TO LEFTS....

At least economic policies of Manmohan made millions of Indians to eat three meals a day.. I am one among them...

If China locks up its money with US that is China's Problem.
by ASHOK on Aug 19, 2007 04:53 PM  Permalink

India has every right to keep circulating its 220Billion USD and take technology from US.

China has nothing to offer to India in Nuclear / Oil Exploration / Defense or Computers.

Both Japan & Germany follow full Nuclear Norms ( CTBT & NPT) , which way US has hurt them in the last 60 Years ???

Commies and BJP is un-necessarily raising the alarm and delaying Generation of additional 20 Giga watts through the nuclear route.

Nuclear Deal
by shinu abraham on Aug 19, 2007 04:30 PM  Permalink

I think India should go with the nuclear deal. Since there is nothing wrong against india. There is a acute shortage of nuclear fuel in India due to which we are unable to progress i.e we have shortage of electricity, if we get nuclear fuel then we develop electricity which will further enhance other projects to come and via India economy will develop and flourish.

So please don't waste this oppurtunity.
