should we not do it even to do research in Nuclear fields. HOw can US say this.Tommorrow it says stop space tests. are we going to listen. then next should not import any item from other countries but only from US should we listen. If we are listening to allthese we will move into slavery of US within a period of 100 years after getting independence from british. shame on indian parliament members and bureacrats

Yes. We should listen to USA. Tell me why we should not? Do You know PAndit Nehru Begged John F Kennedy to send Supersonic jets with Pilots when we were engaging chienese in Himalayas. How can beggers be choosers? Come down to ground realities. Any small Little Dawood Ibrahim can crack RDX at its will in India.

Us now needs India as a condom against China, after all now Pakistan is a failed state. The nuclear deal is farce, forget about now the 1st Nuke power plant won't even be operational in another 10 years.
Nuke power plants are way to expensive to construct, with our requirements of cheap power they will never break even.
The problem is we will have 1 more sick PSU to sell off. However, there will be no takers for this type of loss making enterprise.

Well this would be nice starategy, first satisfy yourself with ur needs and when other want to do that just pull its leg.
American have conducted all types of N test, When India doing the same, then Americans are feeling heat. They dont want that other country should come even closer to them. If America really wants that the Nuclear test should be banned then first it should destroy the these weapons and then tell the other to do before that it does'nt make any sense.

then don't ask Americans for help .... if you beg me for something, I have a right to set my conditions. Don't let pseudo patriotism cloud common sense. These are things best left to experts to decide and not left wingers or Islamists driven by blind anti-americanism

Who is asking Americans to help? They imposed sanctions and we overcame it. Now they are interested in business with India, not us. And infact opposition is telling to involve experts not self-made experts from govt of India in the framing of deal.

There is also an inherent motive. They will sharpen our horns so that in case of Chinese bullying in future, they can use us

might is right.this is an old saying.why india is so eager to follow 123 agreement.ask for clarifications.india should project that india has the right to conduct nuclear test with own uranium or other material.if america says you can not conduct test with your own resources then forget about this agreement.invest few thousand crores in research work.we indian can do any thing when challenged to do that.we have the manpower.congress party shall not sell this country to america.business can be on equal terms.russia, france, china and britain have developed themselves as nuclear power in last 30 years.let us develop in one third of time.america respects the power full not power empty.plenty of time with us.let us accept as a challenge and develop our own resources.do not show eagerness to sign this agreement.pl for god sake do not make one billion plus people as america's slaves.these people will never forgive man mohan singh and congress party.we want electricity but not at the freedom of scientific development.congress will lose elections and wiped out from the scene if agreement is signed on american terms.ask for clarifications.you lose nothing at this stage.all political parties tell man mohan singh.if he does not asks for clarification, then pull this government.opposition will be doing good service to this country, better to be without elctricity at american terms.god give wisdom to man mohan singh.

The only advantage is we will get electricity generated through nuclear reactors setup with the help and support of America. But for that we have to surrender our all the existing Nuclear reactor for the inspection by international authorities and NSG (Nuclear material supplier group), and we also need to curtail our N-reactors to be used for strategic purpose (means for defens purpose=making N-weapons). We need to buy technology (at their cost) and spare parts of N-reactors from USA or its supporting countries (Chamchas like australia, canada, UK). Even after signing the deal we may start getting energy practically only after 10 years or so and at the same time our research on FBR (fast breeder reactor) for utilization of Thorium (which India possess 2nd largest quantity in world that is 32% of total) may suffer because large amount of fund will be diverted in buying equipments and Uranium raw material. And if by chance we do another Nuclear test, the deal will be scrapped and we need to pay back all the material, equippment and Technical Know how transferred under the deal.
RE:why ?
by sumit poddar on Aug 17, 2007 10:33 AM Permalink
mr joshi you are somewhat right but for your information we have to surrender only the civil nuclear plants not the military one the deal is only about civil nuclear supply but if america force their dadagiri on us in future on the base of N DEAL we should kick these deal. our military nuclear will work as it is. we must take the deal because cheap nuclear electricity is must for our country but we should be beware of USA also and ready to kick the deal when needed.

we should also try other source of energy like water and sun....but the country prime ministers are selling our country to other country....we ppl should wake up

Hi,The potential advantage is that,if the contry does not indulge in nuclear testing, then the US will be providing India with huge funds(many millions of dollars) every year!Lets face it..india is a nuclear country, and when needed,we do have the right people and raw mateirals to get it loaded.So.its better we take the grants and keep quiet right now!hehe
RE:RE:why ?
by tapan shah on Aug 17, 2007 09:43 AM Permalink
the treaty is not that simple. us is not providing with extra fund. infact it other way round. india would be paying a fee sort of money to usa. moreover we are force to buy the weapons from them. and certain air crafts. the reason usa wants to sell all these millartary things is, their only source of income left is weaponaries. and they keep advancing their technology, so the second last technology is to be discarded as the newer came in. now the second last cost them something so they would rather sale it to third world than to mas destroy it. and we work hard every day and night to buy that second hand items. which can work excellent but also cant work
RE:why ?
by tapan shah on Aug 17, 2007 09:27 AM Permalink
we need it because we need uranium for nuclear energy. the present source of energy esp...electrical energy. countries like USA, AUSTRALIA AND RUSSIA ARE THE COUNTRY RICH WITH MINERAL SOURCE OF URANIUM.
RE:why ?
by on Aug 17, 2007 09:57 AM Permalink
but alas Russia has been our strategic patner cum guide, why shouldnot we take them into confidence instead of being thrased and bullied by USA everytime for uranium.

what do you mean by "nuclear path"? creating weapons of mass destruction or getting electricity to all in India??
RE:RE:why ?
by tapan shah on Aug 17, 2007 09:39 AM Permalink
its not the nuclear path....the energy was discovered for the good purpose but used also for weapon. the treaty is providing the raw material but that raw material wont be used for weapon. this is the briefing i can do for you. unfortunately that stops us also from any nuclear testing for weapons. even if our neighbouring countries are testing it
