Shells destroy villages, but strengthen communal harmony
by wonder boy on Aug 16, 2007 06:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mattan (Islamabad) Aug 15: When shells burst in Sumbran village on Saturday, Makhan Lal, a Kashmiri Pandit rushed alongwith his family members through fields and deserted villages for safety. But they could not find a safer place as shells rained nearly eight kilometres from his village. And then the local Muslims came to rescue of the Lals and many more Pandit families.
%u201CI and other Pandits owe our life to Muslims,%u201D Lal told Greater Kashmir. %u201CSeeing my family in distress Muslims transported us to Mattan without caring for their families. We can%u2019t forget their hospitality.%u201D
Lal who is putting up at a camp here alongwith 103 Kashmir Pandits said for a few days they took shelter in a temple, but it could not cater to huge rush and they had to leave it. When the Muslims of Mattan saw the Pandits on roads, with the help of some civil officers they converted empty government buildings into camps.
Now Muslims, Pandit and Sikh families which migrated from Khundru and other villages after the Saturday blaze, live together in them. At its entrance, the inmates have put a banner which reads %u201CHindu, Muslim, Sikh itihaad Zindabad (long live Hindu, Muslim, Sikh unity).%u201D Inside the camps, their children play together while womenfolk clean vegetables.
Haji Ghulam Nabi Bhat who heads the Masjid Committee here said the locals cleaned the buildings to provide shelter to the Pandits. %u201CThey (Pandits) are like our own brethren; we have

With the above we can take a film on Bollywood or KOdywood. During crisis time all are equal and after that what?. Now with the privilege motion on PM I think the left will agree to all the conditions in the 123 as their ilnterest is only to see that opposition is not gaining in this issue. Even if this 123 is against our security of this nation the Left will simply say OK to this.

Only USA is the beneficiary
by India Fan on Aug 16, 2007 06:17 PM  Permalink

$200 billion nuclear deal done, next comes multi role jet fighters, the UPA will now blindly sign for outdated F 16 fighters.

Net result USA grows rich while throwing cheap scraps at India.

N-Deal needs more analysis
by Neutral on Aug 16, 2007 06:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

1) Learned representatives from Congress, Left, NDA, UNPA etc should study the deal & understand them point by point.
2) Have a panel with legal experts & eminent Scientist (like Dr Kalam) to analyze the deal.
3) Get the pro & cons of the deal.
4) Finally come to a conclusion on benefits of the deal. If beneficial then go ahead. If not, withdraw from making the deal.

Currently, the only concern for India is conducting N-Test. US says that it will cancel the deal if we conduct N-Test.
Now, ask yourself this question.....Why do we need to conduct N-Test in future?
Answer is threat from our neighbours Pak & China. We cannot neglect this threat.
How are we going to mitigage this threat?
Our PM, MMS should talk with US on this threat.
Two options should be placed before US.

1) Will US help India in fighting our neighbours if they pose a threat to us.
Or
2) If India conducts genuine N-Test then US should not withdraw from the deal.

If US agress to any of the above point, then we can add these clause with the deal & sign it.

But the question is "Will US agree to those 2 options"?
I dont think so..They cant act against Pak as they need Pak's help to catch Osama. They cant act against China too as they get cheap labour from China..

Anyway, N-Deal needs more analysis

Yes absolutely it needs more analysis and debate bytheway why govt is shying away from the debate in LS or in the open platform like media? Why our scientific community is not allowed to express their concern about the deal freely? Even nobody is knowing that howmuch the final product-ie., power will cost to us?

They obviously do not want to discuss, obviously then all the murky deals and swiss bank accounts will come into picture. They want to just open the door for $200 billion US nuclear power equipment manufacturers, who have been redundant since 1997.

Even 1% of $200 billion is huge money, poor Natwar Singh he will ruing that he is not a party to this money raking deal.

As far as eating a pie is concerned, that would happen anyway, whichever deal is signed, or whichever government does that. As far as N-testing is concerned, anyway if India has to do N-test, it would most certainly be imposed with sanctions with or without deal. So I think India should go ahead with the deal because either way if they test they would not be getting the benefit, alternatively if they sign the deal they can start to get the fruits till the time it is compelled to do N-Tests.

Practically the ball in the court of CPM.
by kashyap putra on Aug 16, 2007 05:55 PM  Permalink

Now everything perhaps depends on CPM,if CPM tells Congress " leave nuclear deal for our further support to Govt , otherwise we will withdraw the support".Then only there is a chance to scrap the deal otherwise its very hard.
But I know CPM is the greatest freind of Congress so it is really doubtfull that what they will do.For CPM oneside is Congress and another side country's security and future.

India has no choice

Whether India signs NPT or not, it cannot explode nuclear devices. Why not India sign NPT, and get all the benefits with UN approval? Only lunatic groups like taliban will indulge in nuclear attacks and this cannot be prevented. Responsible nations will never use A-bombs.

Its not about using N-bombs, its about developing technology for Nuclear weapons without extrnal pressure and influence and for that our scientist definitely will need to test. And in that case this deal will be scrapped.

Who is a responsible nation ? What right Us had to bombard Iraq just on the pretext of WMD, which they never found ? If Iraq really had WMd or Nuclear weapons do you think Us would have dared to invade them ?. So, we need nuclear deterrants, becuase we are living next to roughes like Pakistan, and over ambitious China, who have already eaten big terrotories of India and still claiming Arunachanl Pradesh.. Our Singh is loosing sleep over athe arrest of some terror suspect, he does not have time to think of nation's security..

India was non nuclear atleast upto 1971, what happened? Even USA 7th fleet came to bay of Bengal to blackmail us, the Chinese snached away our territory, Pakis have psychological complex against us.....

Now if we dont sign what can go wrong?? India is too big a market to be ignored even by
Americans. Then what makes you to say "no choice"?

Purna I think u believe in the system that if a big bully is asking u to dosomething or asking for moneyetc one should giveup without any resistance and hide in his room so that situation remains peaceful. but fortunately lot of indians are there who will not allow such thing and will fight till the tables are turned again.

WHEN US OFFICIAL SAYS 123 CANCELLED IF WE DO N-TEST
by S_Khan on Aug 16, 2007 05:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Is it not from the horses mouth? is there any confusion about USA intention?

With due credit the US position was always consistently clear, if if India tests N-bomb 123 will lapse? It is our politicians who are misleading us. But all Congressies being Sonias
Munna-Munni cant expect more

Then question is do we accept it or not? When intention & track record of China-Pak is clear for all to see

And you think you have better grasp on such matters than an Arun Shourie ? ! Incredible as it is, your comments, made without going into the merits of the issue, are even more baffling.

You geot to get grip. Turn off your computer, step out, take a deep breath and let your tensions fizzle...you don't have to jerk off here and get high!
