For the speaker, the shoe is now on the other foot now. People know how his party behaved when the NDA Govt was in power.

Peaceful and Thoughtful Discussion in Parliament is important
by BahujanHitay BahujanSukhay on Aug 16, 2007 04:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Friends, discussion on nuclear deal should be held in peaceful manner and not with frequent adjournments of Parliament. Let the goverment put forward the points they are signing-in in the deal. The opposition parties should point out the deficiencies in that points which may harm our basic rights. Moreover basic theory of any deal is Give and Take; that means one gives something in expectation of something. I think we are asking for technology for satisfying our energy needs at the cost of sovereignty of our country. But it is always prefered for any individual or country to have self reliance in any area. So ultimately choice is ours.

You are right. But, is this Govt sincere in its efforts. It is using its majority to smother opposing views. It is wilfully supported by the Left who are supporting the Govt (by implication they are part of the Govt) and yet are in the opposition.

Parliament is Supreme
by ganesh subi on Aug 16, 2007 02:51 PM  Permalink

Every important international law should be put infront of the Parliament. In the present case, though the U.S. government signs the agreement, their Senate and House of Representatives have the power to overrule it. The Hyde Act will take over incase of Indo-US nuclear deal.
