Come on, now!
by harry van on Aug 11, 2007 02:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Come on, now! I'll bet my bottom dollar, NO US immigration authority would have let any person enter their country, under similar circumstances. I've known of incidents where an aged mother-in-law of my cousin who didn't know English was grilled in O'Hare Airport, Chicago! So, please! The Indian authorities have done their job!

Immigration keep it up
by Devendra Silwal on Aug 11, 2007 01:58 PM  Permalink

i think its the right thing our immigration authorities have done,Mr Tirthankar staying in America has taken indian authorities for granted ,what if the same incident would have happened with you if you are holding an indian passport and no US visa would you react the same way.you would have traveled with the passport with valid Visa.

Ignorance or negligence on the passport of travellers cannot be excused. If you opt for a foreign citizenship, you should be thorough with what is needed when you return to your home country.. The immigration is not to blame at all - whether the parent is a politician or a bigwig that has no value, actually they should be more careful and law abiding

What about US
by Mahesh Vaylampurathu on Aug 11, 2007 01:57 PM  Permalink

What would immigration officials in US have done in the same place ?, They would not have acted differently. Please allow them to do their duty. We do feel sorry for the kid but can not be flexible with security matters

I dont think the authorities did anything wrong. Though a 12 yr old doesnt posses any security risk to probably anyone, but thats not the point. Why would you travel to a foreign country without a valid visa. Try doing that to a European country or US. Just because they are coming from a developed country to a poor third world country, it seems they consider a landing visa as their right. Such arrogance!!!

Come on meena, grow up, al queda doesn't need visa to come to India, when we are sharing our borders with our nice neighbours like pakistan & bangladesh, plus alqueda operatives doesnt have to come from outside they have many sleeping agents in India. And even if they want to come by plane our officials will look otherside, remember how dawood left from India after the 93 bombings.

Meena, if you're joking than that's a good sarcasm. But if you're seriously talking, than you should check your head.
