In true sense an immigration office duty is not to showoff his power but to help anyone to the possible extent abiding to the rules. This can never be expected in India and is very unfortunate.

Yes, it was unfortunate. But in India public officials never fail to show off their power, do they?
the stupid indian officials dont know the rules of immigration. The rule for temporary landing permits. The customs officials in the international indian airport are the most corrupt and inefficient people. I dont know why the indian govt asks the cheif commisioners of customs to take care of training the cheap customs low cadre officers who beg money in the form of uniform. This is really the stupid. The indian govt. should come heavily on the officials at the airport to honest and corruptless if india wants to shine. Now india is shinning because of global people, not for indian who stays there in india.

Ms. Mishra, please we don't want your shining. Keep your shining for the country where you stay. India is a country which belongs to the people who stay in India.

Mr. Rathi, I don't think you have any right to say that since everyone who was born in India has equal rights. She is not wrong and I think you should mind your own business. Now don't tell me that I should cause if I were I would not be replying to your post.

It is on a public forum and I am well within my right and BUSINESS to reply if feel something wrong has been said. Dude, learn to to make a coherent point and then say something. Even if you don't worry, don't worry I won't ask you to mind your business. You are well within your right to do so.

When they do their jobs you blame them. Will the US permit U to land in a similar situation ? Think before starting ..."all Indians are corrupt"

Jayprakash, The US officials won't allow you, but your son might have a chance. And moreover the laws in US are the same for everyone. It's that which makes the difference. Did you read the article properly? The Srilankan minister was allowed in a similar kind of situation.

I have myself faced a similar situation in the same Kolkata airport. I am living in Dubai since 5 years now and have a permanent residence visa. Once they stopped me as, according to them, they were not able to read a stamp in my passport. I am using the same passport since 10 years now and have been to so many places across the world. And wot... the man in the immigration counter took Dirhams 10 as bribe from me and let me pass!!!!! Can u believe this!!!! Bloody fanatics!!!!

Hi Sheetal.. regrete but i take strong onjection on saying 'india is shining cause of global people....' m stayin in uk since very long time bt am definitely proud of indians back home.. and definitely india is shining cause of ppl livin there.. i dnt know hw u came to this conclusion tht global ppl made india shine..
Look at the comments Mr. George Joseph Majority are taking side of immigration officers and Kudos to them. If parents r irresponsible, they should kick each others butt not of immigration officer's
And please do not write articles in sympathetic manner to those who r there to break laws
It is an unfortunate incident but that educated father living in USA should realize that rules are there to be followed even when you get a chance to break them. This should be a lesson to all indians having kids with american passport.
rule is rule.. why does the media have to highlight it so much.. am sure if this would happened in USA nobody would the media there would not have even bothered..in India if govt official doing his job as per the rules becomes an issue for media to highlight to get public sympathy for the irresponsible parents..
If I would have made mistake of forgetting the passport in which the visa was stamped, I would have begged the immigration official and then if he doesnt accept kicked my own butt for forgetting the visa. You can't do a mistake and demand others to be linient(You can only hope if you are lucky). Well imagine what if all the passengers start forgetting their visa's and expect the immigration officials to figure out if they are genuine or not??. Regarding the srilankan ministers, he was lucky or may be someone was ready to vouch for him, that doesnt mean everyone could have the same. Above all, I don't think any INDIAN will be permitted to US if he forgets his american visa!!!.
