I agree that this is a temprorary solution and delighted that people of diff comunities are united against reservations, but now we have to take some pains to change thinks. Atleast two times (Centre & State) in 5 years we can take the pain to vote. Like we take leave for our festivals, we should ensure that we vote and also ensure that all our freinds and relatives vote. If we take pain of voting for one day then we can ease the pain for next 5 yrs. I just hope that as it takes, the judgement is delayed till the elections come and then we throw the people out of politics who are trying to divide the country for their personal benefit.
Let's start with an interesting fact. I don't exactly remember the year, but this happened in Madhya Pradesh, where in medical entrance exams a guy got negative marks and he was admitted to MBBS based on his caste, whereas many general category students with lot higher marks did not get a chance. The issue is that the guy who got admission did not deserve it in any sense other than his caste. Think of his contributions to the society once he finishes his MBBS (if he is able to).
The government, if adamant should go with a logical criteria for reservations. My suggestion is that the person getting admission into any of these professional courses should not have a too much difference when compared to the last general category candidate admitted. For example, if the lowest score of the candidate admitted to any professional course is 65 (out of 100), the person admitted under reserved category should not score less than 45 on the same criteria. If they do not find enough candidates to fill the reserved seats, then those remaining seats should be passed on to the general category candidates. I hope this will give a fiar chance to both reserved and unreserved candidates in future and may even uplift the eligible reserved candidates.

but the biggest criteria is his backwardness wrt caste and not his economical status.
Karuna is uplifting the backward by distrubuting free colour TVs. he shold ne nominated for Nobel

Very true.. free him and send him to sansad with a Tank not just AK47..
quota is not at all solution of poverty and backwardness of OBC or any particular part of indian society.implementing it can only birth new issues for future, and i feel that is what these bloody politicians want to play cards on...
Quota has no answers, simply becoz its doing the same thing, which our elderly has done for the people who are right now protected by quota. It will make the better section of people to become weak.
Quota should not be defined on caste, creed it should only be decided by the economic backwardness of the person. Most importantly there should be time limit and vision to implement the quota system so that weaker sections of the society takes advantage and overall upliftment happens.
Lets keep the quota for economically weak people till 2050, which will basically cover almost 2 generations, and will be sufficient enough to benefit the society.
Why quota should be given on cast or religion? in any case all such people have rich and poor section, why the hell we give protection to the people who can afford it by themselves.
As far as the MP/MLA/Miniter etc is concerned, I seriously feel that there should the minimum qualification criteria for all the posts, becoz If a person is going to lead various level of literate citizen, he/she should have atleast basic qualification.
I hope we all work in this direction. Thanks. Mishra

Can you tell me how country would dis integrate without quota system based on economic conditions?
in india, voting among poor and illiiterates is high and voting among middleclass and literates is low.....while in USA its opposite , voting among educated is high and voting among poor and illiterates is low......this is an absolutely shameless thing for all the educated persons in india.....no wonder politicians think that educated lot in india are worthless and hence they just ignore intrests of educated people.....oh! yes , when it comes to polling day the educated lot have many reasons to not to go out and vote, the reasons are obvious, due to polling day they will get holiday why waste time by standing in the queue at polling station?...let us party....., may be their favourite serial on TV is coming and so dont want to go out and vote,....oh shit! rain is coming , dont want to go out and vote....., cricket match india vs bermuda in bermuda is coming on polling day so they wont come out and vote.....dont have patience to stand for a few hours top caste their valuable vote to decide nation's law makers, dont disturb the educated they are too busy with partying, bollywood films, IT and MTV....but poor and illiterate people they dont know all these luxuries and they brave against all odds to caste their votes.....

I do agree with you it is an irony that only potential voters are heard. Unfortunately our group discuss a lot and criticise a lot but doesn't vote. I feel that all appeasement will be done for those who vote enblock. This is high time that we should think about our way of thinking that voting is only way to change the polity. We must vote to get the desired kind of people otherwise all duffers will rule and we loose the right to criticise those.

I dont agree that voting among poor and illiterates is high and voting among middleclass and literates is low...purely due the fact that the population of poor and illierate class of people in WHOLE of India (that is rural areas included) is way more then the middle class u talk about. Think on the lines of 100 times more or may be 1000 times, considering Indias population is MORE THAN a BILLION that is 1000000000. Can you see how many zeros there are ? So before you compare with USA think on these lines also. FYI USA population is 300MILLION ONLY! Also do you know how much more area USA has for it 300 Mil population? 1.7 TIMES the land India has. Now u think what point I am trying to make as it seems you think a lot and have a lot to say.

ok. let us not compare india with USA....but can we compare india with china a country which has almost the same problems as india and a country 1.3 billion?.....china's ziang zemin that our country does not want to rush towards democracy immediately, instead when the economic conditions of all the people improve and mature enough for democracy then only they go for democracy......he said china will go democratic in 2060.....so, taking these words did india really deserve democracy? or we had rushed towards democracy without actually improving the economic lives of millions?......day by day we are only becoming an immature democracy......
I would request all of you to please read front page of Hindustan Times Delhi Edition of 7th August (e-paper available at www.hindustantimes.com) to know the details of no. of reserved catagery people in ministrial staff of all the ministers.
Quota is a must . However it should not be on religeous or caste basis. There has to be reservation for the disabled people. Provide reservation for the daisable people everywhere in jobs, education, travel, taxation etc. Why the govt. is nopt doing so? Why its behind the caste and religeon based reservation for the sake of Vote bank politics. It will divide India
We as a nation are fortunate to have panel of elite judges who are not impressed by the vote bank politics of our bankrupt & set of regressive thinking politicians belonging to all parties. Let us hope that only what is good for nation as per the well laid principles of Constitution will be the guiding force for SC to decide entire reservation issue.

We people need to file PILs (like this anti-quota one) for every regressive step taken by the idiots in the Govt. Then only can the SC and other courts help us. If we accept all Govt decisions blindly then the SC or any court cannot help us.
