Oh God, please tell me why these cunning, high & mighty politicians are not felled by these cruel acts of nature ? Why is it that only the poor and the hapless have to go through this grind ? Is this not injustice, particularly so, when you are considered to be the all pervading, all knowing benevolent ?
In the last 60 years of our independence, has there been any significant developments which has happend purely by political will. NO. It has always been the sheer determination of the people of India (the middle class who make up 300 million) which has contributed to what little development we are seeing as well as foreign enterprises who see opportunities in doing business in our land by exploiting our weakness and taking advantange of our bad governnance. It is therefore the People of this land who can make the change. Do not expect anything thing from the political class. It is the "US" who should come forward to relentessly make our effort to add more to the 300 million by uplifting the "have nots" and the victims of political exploitation. Start a forum and let all like minded who has the will to shed "helplessness","ego" join the forum, commit themselves to a betterment. Let us not imitate others, let us innovate.

Dear Rediffmad, (I wonder why this id? There are symptoms to the contratry in the message posted by you.)
I do agree a great deal with your view that it is "We, The People" who have, and hopefully will bring about "development". However, I have doubts about what "development" means to most of us. Is it individual or collective development that we seek? Man is selfish, is what I have not only read as a starting point in Economics, but have also experienced very often.. and in ways one would rather not experience. How many of us (and I include myself)will raise our voice for the sole benefit of, say, our neighbour? And, even if some noble souls did, how many will go the distance without any expectation of a "Quid Pro Quo"? Not any I am afraid. This sounds harsh, but realities are harsh.
However, do understand that I haven't said all this to break a dream... I am very much a dreamer myself, with a dream for not only a better India, but a better world ! Just that I have not seen many 'haves'(including erstwhile-have-nots)even think about (forget making the effort for)uplifting the 'have-nots'. This certainly is not very promising, you would agree.
Yet,I am joining-in in your hopes, for a better tomorrow that is created by "our" joint efforts considering the 'greatest good of the greatest number", because, they say, 'Optimism is the foundation of courage.'
The Congress government will give the flood victims a permanent relief. It is keep planning on how to send basic food and medicine to the affected areas since last week. It will take another 10 days to get the plan approved.
The Poor people will start get food and medicine within a month time. By that time many will die in hunger and disease. This is the permanent relief, you will not suffer any more once dead.
Who cares about poor people in India. Poors will be given attention only once in 5 years. In the name of Democracy, Poors will be paid to vote by all political parties during election. By voting and accepting their money you have to suffer for 5 more years. This will continue forever. THIS IS DEVELOPING INDIA.....
why worry of this flood..our loongi FM says country's growing @ 9% and former president said we are going to be superpower soon.I can well imagine what people in bihari can get and what govt of bihar n central govt can do.I was in punjab 10 yrs ago when flood was there in punjab.Punjab being one the most developed state no one came forward to help us forget about bihar which is one of the backward state.PM already had so many sleepless nights for Haneef so let him sleep & DND.Madam Antonio doesn't know what floods are as there were no floods in Italy..hahaha..so let poor people die.."Garib aadmi marega tab he garibi door hogi".In few cities malls & multiplexes have come up and people started thinking we are becoming superpower. Now check the reality and floods are coming in these places as annual affair.

Bihar and UP are among the most Backward states. They do not have any kind of infrastructure to get help in need.
While reporting, media must show and highlight muslims are affected, only then PM will not sleep, help from all corners...human right activists, secular politicians and others...poor Hindus..they will be left alone to die in this country...

Very well said Ratnesh. And may I add two more bas**ds to this list - * Megha Petkar * Mamta Banerjee
Mamta Banerjee made such a big political hungama on the allotment of land to TATA. Now where is she?
And Megha Petkar is only concerned about Narmada...may be because its quite close by to her palace....
If anybody wants to help these poor people, we can form a (temporary) organisation. Contact me at dhananjaysah@rediffmail.com

You yourself have answered the question, the people mentioned here are all publicity stunt people.
Is a population of 120 crore dependent on 20-200 people. Why to blame these people Are they resposible for the Flood? Are they responsible for providing food and shelter to all the people in India? Are they the only ones who are there to help? Is india dependent on 200 publicity stunt guys.....??
If India needs or as claim that it will be super power learn from what other do or have done to reach at the stage they are today.
Problem with Indians including me.
1. Superiority complex. 2. Ignorant for all real issues 3. Never ever will give a helping hand to any cause. 4. Masters of Blame game. 5. Never ever accept the reality, always comment from 30,000 feet above the ground level
