I would not be surprised if the Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, submits an amnesty appeal to the President to grant Sanjay Dutt a presidential pardon. This has been done in many countries and eventhough opposition parties cry over such pardons, it hardly makes a dent to the action already taken. I still believe that Sanjay Dutt should have been given probation, as 14 years a long time, and since he was only charged for possession of guns, and these were destroyed and not used for killing anyone, he deserved a leniency. He had already served time and that was punishment enough.

Sanjay Dutt was possesing a banned weapon in a sensitive area at a sensitive time,unfortunately for him those who supplied the weapon later also turned out to be serial blasts conspirators.Had Sanjay known about this surely he would not have accepted the weapon.
Now to serve 6 years for mere possesion is ridiculous,he has already served time in jail as an undertrial and not to forget the trauma of last 14 years.Punishment should not be more than a crime.
Drunk drivers mow people to death and get away by just paying Rs.900. In Bihar/UP badlands,Gun making is a home industry and people own arms to protect themselves against kidnappers and gangsters.
Whoever is he. If he is playing with Countries security & harmony he must be punished. Indians have wrong approach or softcorner or one type of attachment towords celebrities, Film Stars or any other big B. But this is harmful for countries betterement. In abroad at the time of punishment people not seeing anybodies position in society but crime. As per his crime he get punishment & people accept his punishment they least bothered that crime maker is Film star or any other celebrity. In the eyes of them he is criminal. Indians also have to follow this approach. In the eyes of Judiciary all are equal & whoever criminal he is doing crime must be punished. There is no any compromise. So treat all criminals equaly.
sanjay has already undergone 16 months plus 12 years in exile/jail,since waiting for the punishment is also a big punishment:only a person who has faced ,can understand.why our court procedures are so slow.why punish a person trying in the court for 12/13 years,waiting for him/her to go to jail/gallows again.12 years of trial,if taken as a half punishment,also suffices the purpose of 6 yrs ri by justice kode.if politicians can be released by high courts/hon'ble supreme court after doing bigger crimes,if big dacoits can surrender/pardoned why not sanjay who is giving such a promising image to the world by his roles and behaviour. Likewise, as you suggested, when we catch, if at all, Dawood Ibrahim, all his assets should be donated for public good and he should be sent to his ancesttal place and relax! It helps lots of people, isn't it? What use if he spends his rest of life in jail? The dead of the blasts would not come alive, anyway! Right!

I hv till remember Bal thakery told I am proud if my sainik demolished the structure & ordered Sivsainik go & killed Muslim all over Mumbai!!How 'll I forget?? I am against violence but it's fact that If Blast did not happened Sivse4na & Mumbai Police killed to major muslim that time!!! Who will Punished Advani,Bal Thakery like ppls???

Advani, Ashok Singhal, Pravin Togadia, Bal Thackeray... they will never ever be punished. India is yet to produce someone who has the resolve to put these criminals behind bars.
If you ever commit mass murder, first join Indian politics to claim immunity.
Supreme Cout will sooner or later grant bail to Sanjay. His mere possession of a weapon does not warrant a 6 year term in jail. He was not involved in any way with the Bombay blasts. The fact that India could not get extradited the main culprits , Dawood ibrahim and Tiger Memon from Pakistan shows that India is a spineless country in the international arena.

Shame on you Kapil Sibal! You want to stand by the Sunil Dutt's family (that includes the CONVICT Sanjay Dutt) in its times of "Sress and trouble". But it never occured to you to stand by those thousands of families who lost their loved ones in the blasts! YOU SAID YOU WANT TO STAND BY SANJAY DUTT- A CONVICT not accused BY THE COURT YOU WANT TO STAND BY THE CONVICTED CRIMINALS!
