Oh my God !! What is the author thinking???
by sonia gupta on Aug 04, 2007 12:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Does the author of the article understand the difference between acting in movies and actual life !!!
Going by his word, should we have punished Amrish Puri, Pran, Amzad Khan, Danny, Gulshan Grover, etc for spreading the evil values through movies???
If at all, the credit for spreading Gandhian values through the movie should go to the director/story writer whose idea it was.

Wasted sympathy

Please spare us this sympathy barrage. Most public I talk to has no sympathy for Dutt who is actually a friend of Chhota Shakeel. Only, it is media and bollywood sympathy. Media is too leftist to be intelligent. And bollywood sympathises with him because many of them see themselves in his shoes (most have contacts with underworld). Movies are just movies, not real life. There is NO Munnabhai, though you will find Dawood bhai/Abu bhai etc. And think of it, we do not know for sure that Sanjay got rifles and granade for his own protection, maybe he was supplying to his 'friends', who knows ? Use your synpathy for Bihar flood victims or terror victims who genuinley need it.

very sensible answer indeed! The author has included absolutely no facts, totally appealing to the pathos of the readers.

Not a Gandhian gangster!!!
by karthick gfgf on Aug 04, 2007 12:01 AM  Permalink

Gandhi didnt ask one to be in possession of AK56 and grenades and be addicted to drugs. Its a shame that this person preaches about Gandhi. Its like criminals donating money to temples. It wont be considered a good deed. Same in this case too..

But he is a good actor that doesn't mean he shouldn't be punished. He was asked to pay 25K as fine.. a very huge amount for him.. don't know how he will manage to pay that.

Please Relieve Sanjay

I am working category guy not much into movies but as life went ahead I got more involved with my career and a big fan of analysing the characters...per this justice to Sanjay is not much convincing to me and may not be to anybody because everybody knows the crime situation in India and the polititcal stunts...if we take into account all these crimes then the punishment what Sanjay got really very huge...it's like theft performed for chocolate and got punished for stealing a life...which is absurd and by studying the other part of Sanjay
where he was a drug addict during his youth and proved himself very at his acting and the other stuff is very rare because as per the survey also many people take drugs and there is no point of return at that time also he set an example for the Youth...My sympathy is with you
Sanjay...

I totally disagree

I appreciate your comments and strongly object some of your remarks.

First of all:

A star who can spread Gandhian values in this age is a national treasure.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is not Sanjay Dutt who spread the word of Mahatma..
The movie is just the brain child of the director and the person who wrote the story.
Sanjay Dutt just acted in the movie... That is his job... It is not his
personality that reflected in the movie...

Second:
I strongly feel that whatever verdict that happened in Dutt's case, is reasonable
and it underlines the fact that nobody is above the law.

Third:
It is a fact that even after undergoing prison term before, he made more offenses by
attending parties conducted by Davood Ibrahim...
He should have thought about his fellow Mumbaikars are getting killed in bomb blasts and
other fights in the street, because of this gangster...

If any other person runs over anybody or kill somebody, even if he or she is a star
or celebrity, he or she should be brought in front of Justice and must be punished
for whatever crime he or she committed.

In that way, I totally appreciate the justice system in US from the latest
incidents happened to Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. I totally love the movie
"The Parent Trap" of Lindsay Lohan, but that does not make me feel that she can drive anywhere
under the influence drugs or alcohol and run over anybody.

In fact, it is

In fact, it is a big surprise that even though Sanjay Dutt is a big star
in the film industry and very rich, the justice system still was able to catch him
and make him go through jail term... A very rare thing that will happen in India...

Nicely written

I do agree with Prof. Vamsee Juluri's comments. There are tons of Indians who commited ten fold crimes and are probably commenting how rightly the decision was made in case of Sanjay Dutt. I think Sanjay Dutt's positive impact (through movies) on society should be consider here along with his misdeed. Could he be punished for short term (let say for another year may be) and let him make movies on a social value for rest of his punishement term (atleast three movies and his payment will be donated to a charity).

Sanjay Datt,,a biggest snob
by Sam Patil on Aug 03, 2007 10:43 PM  Permalink

Everybody should read his( so called Gandhian's)
audio script with Chhota Shakil . This was taped in year 2002, long after he came out of jail first time. You can open this HTML to read it. (http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/jul2002/msg01622.html)
He is a very good actor in movies as well as outside in public life. He could mesmerize his fans but not Justice Pramod Kode.

This guy hobnobbed with TERRORISTS. Guys who killed hundreds of Indians and are laughing about it. What is wrong with us, that we can deify a Madhani and make excuses for a Sanjay? What do we have a death wish. Wake up, India, and punish the baddies, dont make excuses for them
