Great Job
by Subhash Verma on Aug 07, 2007 05:28 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I agree with you that "Sanjay should be free to work in the movies". Putting him in jail is just not worth it as compared to allow him to make more Gandhian movies. He has got the potential to motivate people to follow the Gandhi's route. By releasing him, the amount of benefit nation will get is not comparable. So pls release him from the jail.

Are there no actors that can excel Sanjay dutt in Bollywood?. Have all the actors become Dumb & Dull that INDIA is short of Actors, that it should be forced to import actors from Jail?. any one in the place of Sanjay Dutt acting Munnabhai could have done much better or atleast comparable to him in such a classic story play with able directors & stroy writers as that of Munnabhai.

Signing a petition against a court verdict is a crime and contempt of Court. Dont play with courts. When u are a victim, ultimately, u urself ahve a problem, u have to land in court when u will know how important it is to punich the criminals. So, better do not sign any petition against a COurt verdict.

Why should people who lack logic and common sense be allowed to publish here. This is a legal issue. Read the law (Indian or even of US; as basics are going to be same). No civil society can live without rule of law whatever problems system might have. Law of the country should be above everyone, even Mahatma Gandhi himself). If you can do something to improve the system do it, at least don't suggest the disintegration. No one is saying that it is a wrongful conviction, the sentence is according to statute. Most legal experts believe it is lenient if otherwise. Use some brain morons..

I agree with you RD.

So what if some big shots walk scott free, at least justice is working in some cases which is better than none!

I believe this should be set as precedence and all those big-shots should be effectively and efficiently be prosecuted and results deliberated!

Cheers
daV

There are unjust laws as their are unjust men. No law is so great or universal that it cannot be questioned.

No one is questioning the law here. The punishments under arms act are rather very mild. Thats why there was need for law with more teeth (TADA, POTA etc). What do you want, let people keep assault rifles and hand grenades in their homes? I dont know why you people are are so thoughtless and selfish. Just because none of your near dear got killed with reckless use of weapon (I am not even saying terrorist), you want even milder law than arms act? Only when your neighbor will shoot at you or your family with AK56 for parking argument. Moreover law is not only for Sanjay Dutt. Its also for hundreds of people killed in terrorist act (using same batch of weapon found in Dutt's house). Why all these people don't write petitions for those. Just because value of life is cheap in India. Or is it because India is full of unintelligent, irresponsible and insensitive people. They would start petitions and cry for a second rate actor with shameful past. How many of these people tried to even think (just for few seconds) the pain of families who lost their dear ones. Thats the reason we were ruled by foreigners for about 1000 years. For us pain and death matters only when it happens in our own house. Its just shameful......

what are we made of? we blame the system if someone is not punished. and when the system punishes someone, then we try to find million reasons to blame again that the system is flawed in punishing someone.

Sanjay Dutt
by Srinivasan Parthasarathy on Aug 06, 2007 08:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In India a Celebrity getting punished is very rare. If he is a vote bank, congress would have bailed him out. Now the ruling Party can boast of not interfering with the Judicial Process. What it did with the killers of 1984 riots is altogether another matter. Though it's right to Punish Sanjay Dutt for illegal possession of Arms, one can't help sympathising with this gentleman who fully cooperated with the investigation and appears to have got caught in the case unnecessarily. As justice Kode rightly said 6 years is not a very big stretch of his life. He can come out and rebuild his career in Cinema or get into Politics. All the Best Sanjay!

I totally agree with you in this count. He can rebuild his career. But I feel sorry for him. People who commit grave crimes go scott free and he is caught in this quagmire unnecessarily.

Really Stupid Article by Vamsee
by Badshaha on Aug 06, 2007 08:00 PM  Permalink

Vamsee, according to your logic of Sanjay Dutt's good acting in the films, he should be set free, its very disturbing. If your theroy goes well in the Supreme courts, Dawood Ibrahim would come back to INDIA, & Bharat Desai, Dilp Kumar, Mahesh bhatt would produce another Gandhian / Nehruian philosophy Munnabhai role offering it to Dawood, till the time courts make a decision for another 14 years, Dawood would be an Idol of worship in INDIA since money can buy fame for Dawood. May be he will act in Sampoorna Ramayana by Ramanand Sagar Bro's telecast.Dawood can make a cry, vsit Ajmer Darghas, may be siddhivinayak & dagdusheth Ganpati in Pune on Bail. He would be acting in Bollywood till another 14 years pass by. So in that case should at that time Dawood be set free because he would have spread a good message? Dawoods sister or his girlfreind the purest Mandakini Ganga would be a member of parliament by that time could be a BJP or Shivasainik seat. So Dawood start getting support from stupids of the world like Vamsee, you have a reason to come back to INDIA & act in films !

All Stupid
by reshmi on Aug 06, 2007 05:07 PM  Permalink

If someone is escaping from Law doesnot mean that other accused should not be punished. Everyone has to be punished when they are caught& proved that they have done against LAW.

Any one who is handling/ having mass destructive object has to punished between 5-10 years as per law. thats gives sanjay minimum 5 years. Rest 1 year is given because of other crime he has done like having contact with underworld, etc... So 6 years is the least punishment given to anyone.

sanjay dutt
by on Aug 06, 2007 02:20 PM  Permalink

The author does not seem to know about the horror of Bomb Blasts in 1993, and also does not seem to know that gandhiji in his lefetime abhored / hated violence in any form. If sanjay dutt has been found guilty by an INDIAn Court of Law then he should accept the punishment and follow the law.
