Dutt has done his sentence; he should now be free.
by on Aug 02, 2007 10:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sanjay Dutt was not a terrorist, he did not hurt anyone, in fact he is not even a petty thief. Why is Salman Khan not in jail after killing so many people drunk driving? For those reacting to TVR I feel TVR is allowed to present his view point to the world just like we are allowed to present ours but we can all easily judge for ourselves exactly what is Sanjay Dutt Finally? Sanjay Dutt is just an immature, lost, spoiled society brat from a great historic actors Family; Sanjay Dutt is one of the greatest male actors in the world today. He did his sentence a long time ago, he should now be FREE and justice Kode should lose his ego, stop living in the past with Gregory Peck and Mckennas Gold and release him on bail. Dutts already a far better actor at this young age than that Moron Peck. This is not the 1950's, WAKE UP KODE!!

I totally agree with the article of TVR. No one is above the law. Its unfortunate that the law is not applied to Salman Khan and other politicians like Sukh Ram, Lalu Yadav, Mayawati who got away from Taj Corridor case for supporting the Congress.

I wish Sanjay Dutt did this criminal act as part of his movie acting. Unfortunately, he choose to do it real life. Actors are dime a dozen and stop talking of his acting skill.. nothing great except his face matches the villian that he plays.. thats all

An excellent article. It really was time to call spade a spade. I agree that Sanjay Dutt commited a crime and got punished. Its really that simple!

The point of justice
by Naresh K. Kumar on Aug 02, 2007 10:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think the article misses the whole point of the debate around Sanjay's sentence.
So Sanjay Dutt was 34 in 1993. So he took drugs and drank heavily. So he acted like an immature and impetuous fool. So he is hardly a role model for youth.
SO what's the point-that he therefore deserves 6 years in jail, and no sympathy??
Sanjay has been conclusively cleared of any links with the blasts. He has been charged with illegally owning a firearm. It is against this that his sentence should be seen. And in this context, one needs to remember another thing- the whole point of punitive law, of punishment, is not revenge. It's to ensure that people who exhibit tendencies to become a menace to society and other human beings, are curbed from inflicting real damage in the future.
Since 1993, Sanjay has conducted himself impeccably. He is widely acknowledged as a person with a golden heart. He is the first to help anyone who needs it, and has been associated with various causes. He is clearly no threat to society today, and he wasn't earlier- he had no connection with the blasts, a point that was acknowledged even by the officer who arrested him. As for talking to Chhota Shakeel, you try putting down the phone when a don calls you!
Yes, the Bombay blasts were a great tragedy. But in retaliation if we start baying for the blood of anyone who is even remotely connected, irrespective of whether he is guilty or not, we're not better than G.Bush who bombed all of Afghanistan bcos of Osama

Come on! You are being silly. Golden heart! Having contacts with the under world is not a sign of having a golden heart. He is not a terrorist, of course, but he did break the law. He is getting what the law says is the punishment for having a ilegal gun and cotacts with the underworld.

Stupid comparisons between Bush and us.
Sanjay Dutt is guilty. He was associated with gangsters and probably was involved in more than getting the weapons.
He deserves the 6 years in jail. He is lucky he did not get life imprisonment.

Mr. Shekhar you are right about the current generation of "Retards" and dutt is anything but innocent but dont you think 16 months is enough for what he has done? I think it is. We need to move on from here to more important issues like global warming and corruption in India and let Dutt do his acting.

Sanjay Dutt's crime was to own a AK-47 illegally, and keep it in your brain that he did not blast the bomb or anyway invlolved in that. Just because he knows bad guys and was immature and has weak mentality than his sisters does not mean that he is bad. So, stop saying he is bad and realize that he was punised for being celebrity so that so called justice is been served. When one person who destroyed the gun got bail on POA, other got 2 years jail term and the third one got 5 years, then what is the point of same law for everyone. Why is this differentiation???????

Law is supreme
by Anshuman Mishra on Aug 02, 2007 10:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I agree 100% with you Mr. Shenoy that sanjay's sentence should be well accepted by society.

This will send a message to all the rich brats that they can can not use the influence of their parent to play pranks with law. The judiciary also runs on the taxes paid by the poor men so they too accept that a justic is delivered.

Sanjay dutt is asking public to pray for him, I ask sanjay to pray for me instead. Did he ask me if like an AK-56 or

I like company of underworld.

His sentencing shows that our judicial system is still breathing and has not collapsed and the common man's faith will be reinforced in the system

I fully agree with Mishra and Shenoy's views on Sanjay Dutt. I would like to go further on this that I had known this guy Sanjay dutt when I was associated with the film industry about 15years back. He was the most spoilt, rude and illmannered boy of his parents. He was in fact the agent of Dawood ibrahim and Chota Shakeel in the film industry. All actors and actress were very scared of him. In fact he use to pass on the telephone numbers of the film industry personnel to these underworld people, who in turn will call up the person and demand for protection money. When the victims agree to pay up, they are advised by the underworld people to hand over the money to Sanjay Dutt. Clear cut evidence of this can be traced out to the telephone conversation taped by Mumbai police when Sanjay Dutt was speaking to Chota shakeel from Nasik.

He use to bully and thrash anybody he felt like. He was always full on drugs at any time.

Another example of his arrogance and ill mannered behaviour was seen when he was in Canada to shoot for film Dus. Some young Indian children who were his fans went up to him for autograph. Instead of speaking and treating them with kindness, he took the autograph books from the children, tore and threw them in their faces and with foul words (in Hindi) pushed the children away. What a shameless character. In fact I was extremely happy to see that this fellow was put behind bars which he fully deserved.

Since I have seen and known him personally he ful

So you should be asking for more jail term for terrorists or salman (i wud say he is worst then a terrorist) instead of requesting lesser punishment for sanjay dutt. He had firearms and he was a part of the events and everyone knows that, so he deserves the punishment. It should send a strong message to idiots like salman khan that being a celebrity doesnt mean you can fool around.

If there is some one who needs 2 b punished then its LK Advani, who demolished Babri Masjid in 1992-93.Before demolishition of Babri Masjid 70% of indians did not know where s babri masjid,nd demolistion of the same caused Bomb Blast.Law nd order in India s only a farce nd nothin.I am not supporting Sanju but m telin that if Judje Kode could also senrence Advani.Sanjay dutt had every time been stressed n d last 12 years nd as a youth f he has commited wrong he has repaid it by dieing 4 14 years each nd every day.If some 1 s not innocent then why would d general mass love him.even blast victims say dat 6 years s a harsh punishment 4 him nd dat too at d age f 49.Justice delayed s justice denied nd Indian law has once again proved it.Now Mr.Ujjal Nikam as a public prosecutor has done his job as all the leaders of opposition party shout n d parliament with dumb minds nd non sense speaking tounges,I would challenge dat 90% ministers donot know at what rate our countrys economy has grown 4 d past 5 years. It s proved that law s harsh only 4 those who are innocent and surender.I would like to add a comment that Judge Kode should rethink on his decision and as a free Indian I support Sanju nd will continue to do so.My best wishes 4 BABA...
