Just because some one is born in hi-fi family/ reputaed parents/rich family, does not give freedom to do anything and go free. I liked his parents as actors, I liked him too, but will I forgive him if he had killed my family? I dont think I could be that generous. To all those, who say he should be free, first imagine your dearest person killed in 1993 blast, and death of your dear one, who may not even got last rites in proper manner, as bodies were mutilated, imagine further your own life after that, void and utter vaccum that was created by 1993 blast, and now say, do you still say he should be free. If you do, than I salute you, you are "REALLY MAHATMA"

I think he didnt play any role in 1993 blasts. but he had some deadly weopons and no doubt he should get proper punishment for that. I guess it was his bad luck that he got caught during the bomb blast investigation and he got tagged with the bomb blast case.

Yes, and then talking with chota shakeel, being constantly in the mafia circuit was a pure mere coincidence??
Someone has managed to comeup with a really really sensible article. Well said buddy...A crime is a crime no matter who commits it... And to all those people who are sympathetic, please understand this...You are sympathysing on a person who was involved in the murder of hunderds of people in 1993. Now just because he's an actor and he's given a movie called munnabhai, it does not make him a gandhi. No offense meant, but the very fact of being attracted by cinema stars is kinda blindfolding most of us. Why this sympathy to man who does'nt even know you, a criminal? Just because he's a movie star...come on guys, please take a second to think. Is your sympathy towards sanjay dutt fetch money, fame????nothing...There's some reason to feel sympathetic if he was falsely framed, but thats not the case here... Of all the people here who feel sanjay dutt's punishment is too harsh, how many of you have even spoken/seen him. Please understand that these cinema actors and politicians are just like you and me and are nothing different. They don't deserve anything special which we don't get. This is why most of out corrupt policitians are free and at large, criminals become netas...and these so called actors feel they belong to a complete different class from the rest of the society... On the contrary not every politican/actor belongs to this category. Please take time and get inspired and support people who make a difference to this society.
I fully support and agree to the points mentioned by Mr. Shenoy. Our media is full of stupid and opportunistic people. These people party with these celebraties, drink, dance and drugs. Their friend has gone to prison and most importantly they dont understand other topics to discuss. Do you remember NDTV has a anchor who covers live partes. This is our media maturity. Coming back to Sanjay, though he is not terrorist, he is not saint either. This guy possessed lethal AK56 and later asked his friends to dispose it off. Given a chance he would have used that weapon and killed innocent people. Moreover 1 yr or 6yr sentence. It's judge who know the law well and here in this case a judge who showed a courage to punish a celebrity knows the better punishment. Not you and me.
So lets not add much spice to this episode. A criminal got the punishment though he is celebrity which is very rare in India. Lets feel proud of our judicial system. I hope to see few more cases of punishing celebraties, politicians and corrupt government officers in future. Dont forget Paris Hilton which is far bigger celebraty than Sanjay Dutt and Chelsea Clinton when Clinton was US president got punishments of drinking and driving carelessly which I think is a petty crime as compared to possessing and distroying AK56.
Everyone I have talked to feels nauseated by the media coverage of Haneef &family, Sanjay Dutt. It is as though these are the only things that matter to a nation of 1 billion with enough terror/naxal/jihadi problems apart from poverty/inflation etc. Wake up journos, people do not care about the trash you present. It is not 80s,90s , internet has changed the rules of game , more and more people now understand the difference between news and propaganda.
This is incredible that we have such impartial and mature still in India. I had almost forgotten that we are a civil society amidst all this blatent show of power and status towards the same population who made these people like sanjay dutt & lalu prasads and priyaranjan dasmunshis what they are today. This message of yours and the analysis should be an eye opener to all those who just sessationalize news for their sales or TRPs. Incredible analysis and eye opening article which gave me a hope for my country - Our India
A very few people know that Sanjay Dutt considered himself more near to Islam. He was too close to his mother Nargis and hence was very pro islamic. Truth is that he had strained relationships with his father whom he considered to be responsible for his mothers death. He was a drug addict and brought bad name to his family. He had an extra marital affair while his wife was sufferring from cancer and was bed ridden, he remarried just 2 months after his wife's death.

I fully agree with True Indian's views on Sanjay Dutt. I would state further on this that I had known this guy Sanjay dutt very well and closely when I was associated with the film industry about 15years back. He was the most spoilt, rude, illmannered boy of his parents. He was in fact the agent of Dawood ibrahim and Chota Shakeel in the film industry. All film personnel were very scared of him. In fact he use to pass on the telephone numbers of the film industry personnel to these underworld people, who in turn will call up the person & demand for protection money. When the victims agree to pay up, they are advised by the underworld people to hand over the money to Sanjay Dutt. Clear cut evidence of this can be traced out to the telephone conversation taped by Mumbai police when Sanjay Dutt was speaking to Chota shakeel from Nasik.
He bullied and thrashed anybody he felt like. He was always full on drugs at any time.
Another example of his arrogance and ill mannered behaviour was seen when he was in Canada to shoot for film Dus. Some young Indian children who were his fans went up to him for autograph. Instead of speaking and treating them with kindness, he took the autograph books from the children, tore &threw them in their faces and with foul words (in Hindi) pushed the children away. What a shameless character. I was extremely happy to see that this fellow was put behind bars which he fully deserved.
I can quote thousnds of instances of his intolerable behavior

Mr. True Indian, we love him simply because he is a great Actor and because he is being victimized for being a star. He paid his price by going to jail for 16 months and as Indians dont you think we should be fair? is not his sentence done? lets move on to more important issues, by putting him in jail they have made a martyr out of Dutt.

Its wrong to publish facts without details.
1) Doesnt matter if Sanjay Dutt is pro-Islam or not. Its his choice and should be respected. But just for your information he is a devout of Lord Shiva.
2) Yes he was a drug addict and at that time I completely beleive with you that he was disgracing his family. But I respect him for the courage and strength he has showed during his drug rehabiliation phase. I respect him because he has always come back when people have written down. He has always been there for his friends. We all know that he was an ass before but give the man some respect for his determination to come out of the mess.
3) It is totally rubbish that he was having an extra maritial affair when his wife was suffering from cancer. If you have any evidence, please have the guts to show it. Othewise such allegations are useless and just reflects bad on you.
I agree that Sanjay Dutt had to be punished for having the guns. If everyone comes to arms, then there will be jungle rule out there.
But there were riots and he was receiving threatening calls when this happened. Considering the atmosphere at that time and his good show henceforth,I think the sentence could have been reduced. I think The apex court grants him some leniency.
I dont know about other convicts and hence cannot comment on them. If their motivation was to hurt people then they should be punished. If they wanted to defend their family at that time, then they should be granted some respite.

There needs a darastic improvement in your maturity and understanding. People who have seen him closely and were his victims can only say about him. Jaise karni vaise bharni. Do you know that Sunil Dutt during the last election he fought, clearly instructed Sanjay that he should not come anywhere near campaigning. In fact he was totally fed up with Sanjay's drug addiction, womanising, links with underworld & brutal way of life.
The judge did right thing and set a good example by punishing him and sending right message to all sections of society.

Frankly Vijay, I dont know if what you wrote was true or not but yes I can beleive it at the time when we was on drugs. Any father would have been ashamed. But after following the happenenings in his life for the past few years, I have only heard good about him from all people. I am not blaming the judge for anything. He did a commendable job. Sanjay Dutt should have been punished but my personal opinion is that it should have been a little less harsh. Earlier all people used to go to underworld parties. I am not saying it is right but you couldnt ignore them.
Also true Indian wanted to bring the communal viewpoint into it, pointing to Sanjay being pro-Islam and henceforth suggesting that he had a hand in the blasts. THis is totally ridiculous and he needs to have a drastic improvement in his maturity and understanding.
Also, you cant punish a person to set an example. If Sanjay was not guilty and would have been let off, then everyone would have said, he used his clout.
Anyways, Sanjay Dutt is punished. The law followed its course. You cant help it if the person had to undergo 14 years anxiety. But I do sympathize with him beleiving that he got the guns to protect his family.
One question to you: Do you think Sanjay Dutt is a terrorist? I dont.
Mr. Shenoy, I can understand the agony and anguish in your words. Its true that much of the system has been polluted and this verdict stands tall as a pearl in the dirt.
But how far fetched is it, is my question. Every once in a while some celebrity like this is jailed and such. Verdict creates a wreck in the reporters and public as well. People talk about it for a month and then life's as usual. What about all the others who are getting away with anything and everything?
Why cannot the country's judicial system punish anyone who is a law breaker?
So although i m a little relieved that bad people have been put to task, i still believe there is a lot of ground for the judicial system to work on. and certainlly yes i m tired of hearing, "ITS not that easy".....Cmon!!! Its your job. Quit if you cannot do it.
Mr. Shenoy, i fully concord with what you have written. If a common man had done this mistake and would be sent to Jail, then no Indian people would be bothered about that. Common Indian people when we will start to respect the justice. Judgements can't be given on the plat. of sympathy. We should realize that everyone is equal under the law.
Lets stand up and applause for indian judgement and pray for Sanju, hoping to see him in films after 6 years.
If any oe can remember Ap has got a hero who killed two still acquitted and blede media has not spoken anything... all becoz he has given cores to media to keep quite and cores and threatings to victims... first he should be bought to law...

That they are alive is besides the point, he did shoot them in cold blood and one (or both) of them went into coma - are you arguing about the fact that they are deadalive or whether he desereves to be punished for shooting??
This is probably one of the best reports that I have read in some time. I hope, in the future, the media learns what they are supposed to do and give importance to matters which actually affect the people of India.
