All parents learn from this
by Hemal Patel on Aug 03, 2007 02:54 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sanjay dutt is a case of a person who simply did not get required cause & effect lessons in the childhood, I have seen people like him who think they are entitled to do anything they want, and because of his afluent background he never developed the sense of respect for authority, which is now harming him in big way.

This is a lesson for all the parents to raise their kids with proper mindset and not to spoil them to this extent where they themselves ruin their lives.

I do not understand the header of your article. You have aimed your guns at Sanjay Dutt , reminding him of equality of citizens in front of law.

Did Sanjay Dutt ever refute that ? He is behaving just as any person behaves on being convicted and sentenced.

I dont find any need on your part or on that of society to remind him of the law of the land.

If you clearly read, there is no reminder or any thing that is for Sunjay Dutt. It is for the media which is bruhaha over his arrest and the so called sympathy getting rallied for him while happily neglecting the suffered. We Indians have a doubious distinction of ignoring the common public of their suffering past and just worrying about the coverage in all possble ways of a news event which is not at all releavant to the common man.
Infact this hero worship is ridiculous even as the so called actor is found criminal

You are welcome to ahead and fight a case against Modi - isnt Indian Judiciary open to all....I do not know why you guys want to drag Modi on every occasion...for every psudo secular Congressman...a Modi will be there...the need is to stop discriminating people as minority and majority and just treat everyone as Indian.

Stupid Ministers like PriyaranjanDas Munshi
by on Aug 03, 2007 01:24 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why do we have stupid ministers in our Central govt. like Broadcasting minister Munshi. Why is Sonia Dumb on keeping him on the post?. If he calls a mafia loaded with gallons of liquor talking to another Mafia Don over Phone in TAJ Hotel From nasik as a Deshbhakt, definately Minister Munshi must be arrested & case filed against him in Mumbai Courts. Dilip Kumar Saira banoo, Govinda , Mahesh Bhatt & others sympathasing such a Mafia should have made to experience the Pain what Mumbai Sufferred in 1993 Bomb Blasts. Thanx Kode & Nikam for fighting a case for common cause.

No body above law?
by Ramesh Kapoor on Aug 03, 2007 01:17 AM  Permalink

There are few names which I can suggest who are above law, and this may not please Mr. Shenoy. An advise to Mr. Sanjay Dutt is being hypocritical, and it would have been more appropriate to say that it took 14 years to conclude a case; which is like the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after he was banished. These 14 years can be considered as a judicial farce, and it shows no credibility to Indian judiciary.

General commentary
by crazyforsense on Aug 03, 2007 01:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The article is written more like a general commentary.

Unfortunately it doesn't answer my questions-
1. Why is it wrong for Dutt to possess arms in that context (riots in the background) to protect his family?
2. He never fired the weapon, he procured it illegally for the purpose of defending his family in a frenzied atmosphere. So why wasn't he given the benefit of the doubt.

6 years still is incommensurate with the 'crime'. No jail time and a hefty fine should have been it.

The weapons that were found, the AK-56 gun and the hand grenades, chances are less that the intent behind such sophisticated weapons was defence.(not that i mean that he intended to harm someone either).most reports said that he acquired those weapons just because he was asked to by his den friends who probably were connected to the underworld n wanted to hide those weapons for possible future use.. whatever it may be,his stupidity(knowing the situation n then ignoring the facts) or whatever..he DID commit a crime ..If we are to bring about positive changes in our system then we ought to accept the jury's decision in all circumstances..but he has already been in jail fer a year and a half already although the case was under trial den (completely agreeing with Mr Ramesh Kapoor that the time taked to reach a final verdict for all was too long..
~~NOTE : the judges being changed twice during the whole trial does raise some eyebrows definitely, with political leaders n vandettas changing often~~
But still he has served in jail for some time and frm the looks of it appear to bea changed person .. forgive me if im wrong !! I cannnot even imagine what the relatives of people who lost their loved ones in the '93 blasts would have gone through and my heart goes out to all of them ..Bt then again..was the proof enough for a 6 year rigorous imprisonment..{please leave aside the role of the media, they'r only here for the TRP's.period

Do you need 25 hand-granades and 2 AK 47 sub-machineguns to protect your family?
If he had fired the weapons, he would have been in a much bigger trouble. Luckily he did not fire them, and only got 6 years.

2 AK 47's - yes, probably they are needed.

25 hand grenades.....probably not.....in any case that is immaterial from a technical viewpoint of the case. The charge is - Possesing a fire arm(not arms) illegally.

Assuming all you stated is true, why didn't the prosecution charge him with illegal possession of the hand grenades?

and also hand grenades and 2 other guns were not asked for by Sanjay. They just came extra and he did ask providers to take them back as soon as he saw them.

there is a lawful method to get arms for family protection but it does not allow you to take AK-47. Sanjay could have gone for best riffles with a proper license.
Issue is that he never thought that indian system can ever make any harm to him.

He should have probably tried license but do you know how long it takes to get license approved? I think it would have been long after the riots ended and Sanjay did say he needed gun only till riots for protection. This was not usual circumstance my friend which is why a lot of people feel sentence could have been more lenient.

Less punishment for someone almost no danger to society.
by Sandeep on Aug 03, 2007 01:02 AM  Permalink

This just looks like a piece of biased journalism.
What is relation to any threats being received by Nikam? Surely you dont think Sanjay is responsible?
You also do not say, who called in Chota Shakeel conversation? If Chota Shakeel did, what are you supposed to do? Hang up?

No-one is denying the fact that he was not a good law abiding person 13 years back. But it%u2019s been too long and Indian law would rather spend more time on dangerous hardened criminals than keep on harping about someone almost no danger to society. Probably a 3 yrs, good fine and community service would have sufficed.

Also, remember in 92-93, rampaging mobs were running around and his family had already received threats. If customs and police could allow guns to be brought in with some bribe, it does not inspire lot of confidence in system. Add a little bit of machoism and you will perfectly see why he could have gotten the gun for self protection. BTW, if you have ever seen mobs violence(I did get a glimpse in 82 riots) You will quickly see why things could have gone the way they did.
You can either hide in face of threats or take some action.

Though one good thing about this is it keeps gullible and foolish people of India happy and hopeful thinking justice has been served. This might be good for India as you need hope to make things better. They of-course ignore that there were also 9 politicians who were caught with illegal weapons during the time and none of them were convicted.
