On the subject, writes M. O. Mathai (a longtime private secretary of Nehru) in his renowned (but now suppressed by the GOI) %u2018Reminiscences of the Nehru Age%u2019 on page no. 94, second paragraph: %u201CFor some inexplicable reason, Nehru allowed the marriage to be performed according to Vedic rited in 1942. An inter-religious and inter-caste marriage Vedic rites at that time was not valid in law. To be legal, it had to be a civil marriage. It%u2019s a known fact that after Rajiv%u2019s birth Indira and Feroze lived separately, but they were not divorced. Feroze used to harass Nehru frequently for money and also interfere in Nehru%u2019s political activities. Nehru got fed up and left instructions not to allow him into the Prime Minister%u2019s residence Trimurthi Bhavan. Mathai writes that the death of Feroze came as a relief to Nehru and Indira. The death of Feroze in 1960 before he could consolidate his own political force, is itself a mystery. Feroze had even planned to remarry.
GANDHI%u2019S FAMILY At the very beginning of his book, %u201CThe Nehru Dynasty%u201D, astrologer K. N. Rao . Why? No one tells us that Now, who is this Feroze? the son of the family grocer. The grocer supplied wines etc. to Anand Bhavan, preciously known as Ishrat Manzil, which once belonged to a Muslim lawyer named Mobarak Ali. It appears that the reason is simply this Rajiv Gandhi%u2019s paternal grandfather was a Muslim gentleman from the Junagadh area of Gujrat. This Muslim grocer by the name of Nawab Khan, had married a Parsi woman after converting her to Islam. This is the source where from the myth of Rajiv being a Parsi was derived. Rajiv%u2019s father Feroze was Feroze Khan before he married Indira, against Kamala Nehru%u2019s wishes. Feroze mother%u2019s family name was Ghandy, often associated with Parsis and this was changed to Gandhi, sometime before his wedding with Indira by an affidavit. The fact of the matter is that (and this fact can be found in many writings) Indira was very lonely. Chased out of the Shantiniketan University by Guru Dev Rabindranath himself for misdemeanor, the lonely girl was an by herself while father Jawahar was busy with polities pretty women and illicit sex; the mother was in hospital. Feroze Khan, the grocer%u2019s son was then in England and he was quite sympathetic to Indira and soon enough she changed her religion, became a Muslim women and married Feroze Khan in a London mosque. Nehru was not happy; Kamala was dead already or d
What heritage are we talking of? Congress MPs,MLAs & Congress party don't care a damn for Gandhi's principles, ideology & whatever Gandhi said or wanted. We can easily get a photocopy of the letter, if we have so much of sentiment attached to it. These people who create ruckus about Gandhi, WHY NOT DISBAND CONGRESS PARTY AS GANDHI WANTED? WE INDIANS IN INDIA DONT CARE ABOUT GANDHI, WHY SOME CZEC SHOULD? DOES CONGRESS PARTY ANYTIME THINK, HOW MANY HERITAGE BUILDINGS ARE IN DILAPIDATED STATE & NEED IMMEDIATE REPAIR. PHOTO OF BUILDING DOESN'T DO JUSTICE BUT PHOTOCOPY OF A PAPER WILL DO MUCH MORE JUSTICE BECAUSE IN A PAPER ITS THE TEXT. GODSE WAS AGAINST GANDHI'S DECISIONS LIKE OPPOSING SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE & PATTABHI FOR CONGRESS PRESIDENT'S POST, THOUGH THEY WON, GANDHI DID NOT WANT THEM TO LEAD CONGRESS PARTY. HE HAS EVEN THREATENED TO GO ON HUNGER STRIKE (THIS IS WHAT I READ IN NEWSPAPERS LONG AGO). IT SEEMS, GANDHI ALSO SAID THAT THE MOST FEROCIOUS HINDU IS LESS HARMFUL THAN THE MOST MILD MUSLIM. WHAT DO OUR SECULAR & MUSLIM LEADERS HAVE TO SAY. NOW LETS SEE WHO HAS ANY RESPECT FOR GANDHI OR HIS LETTERS.
Its typical propoganda of leftiest and congress to say RSS killed Gandhi...suits them. But facts are totally different.
Godse was a member of congress much before be joined RSS and for much longer time...he had lot of differences with Gandhi's approach while in congress.
He finally left congress to join RSS, but his long history of disagreements/frustration that made him do it.
Don't forget many leader even in Congress were not happy for breaking the country and over & above give Pakistan money, which Gandhi asked to give.
What are we getting from Pakistan now except slow bleeding? Do u see any legitimacy in Gandhi's logic.... C'mon!

Gandhi was a noble man, that's why Tagore called him Mahatama. Can we talk about Tagore in a bad vein also? And why do the people say that he was responsible for Partition? It was Jinnah who did it, on behest of Churchill because he had a ego problem with Gandhi's rise in Indian nationalism and he hated Gandhi's hindu way of satyagraha. And as all noble and saintley people do, he wanted to give the money due for Pakistan. Dont we do same at times when we have disputes with our misguided kins?

Sandeep,
Where do u stay? I want to personally say namskar to u...u seem to be Gandhi re-born.
Misguided kin? do u have any idea of how much people suffered duing partition? And still we continue to suffer...every other day there is news of killing in J&K...I guess our kins seem too misguided.
Just do ur part - Can you please guide them? May be give them money or something? That seems to always work, doesn't it?

You must understand that Gandhi is in no way responsible for the break-up of India. He always struggled for communal harmony. One should have some noble heart to understand ahimsa.

You are wrong in understanding Gandhi.
Gandhi's ahimsa was extreme - it was and is 'rigid' and clearly states that under no circumstances u shd respond. Let's get that clear. At the same time, funny thing is, he attempts to interprete Gita, an message addressed to Kshatria to fight to protect (righteous) people. He is unquestionably confused.
As for communal harmony, that was one-sided, he critisised Dayananda Saraswati's Arya Samaj but never ever the Khaliphat. Congress's appeasement policy's root is Gandhi.
So please understand, on both scores, he is a contradictory and hypocritical man. At best I can say he is was confused.
