I do not think electing a self serving bureaucrat as President of India is a good idea.

If you think he has done many good things for India, please name the top 5.

Mr kalam is still the best choice
by Sreekanth Reddy on Apr 30, 2007 06:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I wonder why readers are so upset about the leftist's remarks. Ask them how about a chinese for the president post of india, they might be happy to say yes. The leftists are the jokers in the current scenario and should not be taken seriously. After all they never had guts withdraw support to UPA inspite of it put aside their warnings on ecnomic reforms and other issues.

Coming to president post I believe kalam is still the best choice even though he should have dealt little better regarding faizal and reservations isuues. If he really need to be replaced Mr. Narayana Murthy is the alternative.

Certainly there are many better persons in the fray from non-political category but these two (Kalam & NRM) have visionary skills and they are role models.

WELL SAID MR. SREKANTH REDDY,

BUT, LET US NOT IGNORE THE LEFT'S COMMENTS ON THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THEY CAN BLACKMAIL THE COUNTRY TO ANY EXTENT AND THE SHAMELESS CONGRESS( FOR CLINGING ON TO POWER) TO SUPPORT SOMNATH CHATERJEE.

IT IS THE DUTY OF ALL THE CITIZENS, INCLUDING REDIFFMAIL USERS TO START A CAMPAIGN AGAINST SOMNATH CHATERJEE FROM EVEN DREAMING OF/LET ALONE BECOMING THE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY.

I agree, Mrs Sudha Murthy or Mr Narayana Murthy, If kalam has to be replaced. Murthys would be First Person and First Lady. In case of kalam, the first Lady post will be vacant. But he alone makes up more than any first couple had ever done for India.

Yes, The Sincere, Kalam - could bean exception if our squabbling politicians do not vitiate the environment by mudslinging
by D goel on Apr 30, 2007 06:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

PKL. Afternoon , Monday, 30th April, 2007,6.20PM

Bereft of politicking ashighlighted by Sri Karat's Laments that BJP refused SRI KN Narayanan a second term to this gilted ceremonial office,he cannot let Kalam also be given any more term.Well it is Sri Karat's Right to hold the views on that subject he ventilates to public.

Non -politicians and distant observers like me may not mind SRI APJ Kalam being persuaded by Chief Parliamentary Groups to help Indian state get the sober leadership role , that he has steered these past few years of distressing

Coalition tantrums both in the union Government as well as in many states running their fractious Agendas & Policies-But obscene controversies relating to a towering giant of Man must always be avoided.D.Goel

Dear indians, we are aware strong the communnists are in their policies and isms. These nukkad beggars are now deciding the fate of the nation thanks to the shameful lot which is currently governing the country sitting at the centre occillating between life & death daily at the hands of these charlatans. So, as long as such power mongers are out in the fray, such funny things will continue, bcas all indians are fools in their eyes.It is true, the entire population is worthless mass and deserve to be terminated from this country. Now the feeling is even the British Raj seemed better instead getting harassed in the hands of our own selfish leaders who continue to ruin the nation.Take it from me, the nation is heading towards a diaster and the day is not far off when China & pak will join together to finish the nation.India will see its end and also the exploiters of the people. It is pitiable to note there is no good person to head the country and understand the plight of the people. But,the goondas and hooligans get elected again & again to annihilaye the population. One amongst the unruly party is communist. So if u want to blame, please blame yourself as to why u were born in this country.

THE ECONOMICAL POLICIES OF CPI & CPM ARE NON EXISTANT IN WORLD IN THE AGE OF GLOBLISATION. SO CPI & CPM SHOULD TAKE SANYAS FROM INDIAN POLITY. OTHERWISE INDIAN PEOPLE WILL START REVOLUTION AGAINST THEM. IN WEST BENGAL IN LIEU OF MONEY THEY DID NOT HESITATE TO OPEN FIRE TO THE PEOPLE OF NANDIGRAM.IN 1962 THEY SUPPORTED CHINA, IN 1942 THEY HELPED BRITISH AGAINST THE FREEDOM FIGHTERS.NOW THEY TRYING TO INFLUENCE INDIAN POLITICS.

by Pavan Kumar on Apr 30, 2007 06:14 PM  Permalink

Well Dr Kalam is very genious. But keeping in mind his age, I prefer Mr Murthy to be our next president. I am not against to Dr Kalam, but to give a chance to Mr Murthy for some dramatic changes in Indian administration.

Good luck Mr Murthy.

I disagree with your opinion this not controvery. you are taking the issue only bcoz the name of both the person belong to same communityi.e. muslim. when he was elected he was niether muslim or hindu he was slected for his distinct wor. For your kind information muslims gives punishment in more brutal way. Death is the easiest way of punishment, but living in the shade of death is the most torturing. we can't imagine the mentle state of Afzal.
Do you think the person who tried to attack on our supreme body get death in that easy manner, No man no way, He must die daily, for several number of days or month. he must live in the shade of confusion...
So far sa Mr. Kalam is concerned He is the best person for the honorable post,he is the person who made us powerfull and we can feel pride that we have nuclear power,
he very simple man too.

Why do we need a President?
by bla bla on Apr 30, 2007 06:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

At the first step, why do we need a president, if he doesn't have any powers. Is he just for praising someone, inaugurating some functions or for a tour.

how much time have u spent with Dr. Mr.Kalam, to know whether he has powers or not. If he orders, you will be convicted to another country.

Do u know anything about missiles, Nuclear testing? He does not have to show his power to you chipmunk. If he gives one punch, you will be knocked.

He has kept all his powers saved for the growth of India Vision 2020. Do u know what is it Baadu?

To whom should the government and the prime minister report to?

To whom should the Cheif Justice of India report to?

To whom should the armed forces report to?

Please go and read up on the President's consitutional role and their responsibilities before making such stupid comments!

Your comment itself says that he is just to report to. It no where mentions what are all the powers he has.

It appears he is GOD (Idol) who is worshipped by everyone and listened by none.
