what could be protected in our country?
by Dragon Cares on Apr 30, 2007 01:45 PM  Permalink

Hello guys:
In our country India, when human life dont have any value, then, how could we expect that our people & our Government could protect these animals? In our country, only criminals are being protected by LAW and by Government; only corrupted politicians are being protected by 'black cats' and 'Z' wing soldiers. Our Government and politicians will always protect the criminals to cross the border safely (example, Mr.Jaswant Singh escorted all those terrorist/criminals to fly safely from India during 1999/Dec Indian Airlines plane hijack incident. Poor citizens dont have any protection at all in our country. Policemen are very busy in protecting criminals and corrupted politicians. When our Government can't protect our ordinary citizens, then, how could we expect it to protect these pitiable animals. To protect the Government MInisters in the Parliament, our soldiers gave their life; but these Politicians are now seeking protection for those criminals behind the Parliament attack. Government is only good enough to collect the money from the poor citizens by way taxes but nothing good could be expected and so dont expect protection from Government. GOD SAVE INDIA!!!!

Man you just hit the nail in the coffin. We Indians are suckers who can't get enough of morons and non-achievers like Sachin and Abhishek but can't do enough to protect our heritage. I am ashamed of the way we treat our animals.

Protection of Tigers in wild
by Shridhar Iyer on Apr 30, 2007 11:47 AM  Permalink

Basically we tend to illtreat animals. We have very little love for animals. Its a common sight in rural areas to see the drivers of bullock carts whipping the bull to run faster. If a dog is runover by a vehicle on the street, no body bothers to take it to a nearby veterinary hospital/clinic. Its a common sight to see lot of animals are loaded in small truck giving them very little room for movement or breathing, many of them may be bleeding too. Very few people bother to correct the situation like these. Elephants are shot down for a few thousand rupees. Tigers are hunted down for a few thousand ruppes. It all shows that we dont care much for animals, whereas in the West, people show love and compassion towards animals and also towards fellow human beings.

Therefore it is very important that we change our mentality/attitude towards animals. This can be tried through educational programmes, print media, e-media, campaigns, etc.

Ensuring that the tigers in the wild are provided with adequate living/moving space, human beings are not allowed to intrude into their habitat, provide adequate naatural fodder/prey to the tigers in the wild,
all poachers are tried and punished severly and quickly, are some of the other measures that can help to remedy the situation in the long run.

With best wishes,
V.Srinivasan.

Wild Life awareness program
by Dr. Nadeem A. Siddiqui on Apr 30, 2007 11:33 AM  Permalink

Dear Friends,

In my personal opinion, general public is not aware of the importance of wild life. A general education program, through various components of media, should be launched to make people aware of ecological disaster in the event of continuous killing or smuggling of wild lives. Once public is aware of it, ways will automatically come up for wild life protection.
