I concur. Somewhere down the line, people seem to have forgotten that the fundamental issue with this news report is not the religion of the person who died, but that of the police overstepping its powers. There have to be checks and balances for a democracy to function. The police cannot randomly shoot anybody it thinks is an LeT millitant. Tomorrow that random shot could be aimed at you. Maybe because you looked suspicious. Or maybe you ran from the police (a crime, but not one warranting use of deadly force). I read a report a yr or so ago of a person got beaten up for calling an ACP a hawaldar. I mean, they are enforcers of the law, not a law unto themselves.

We cannot compare and do the same things that happenes in Pakistan or bangladesh becasue if we have a long term vision of India as a super power we have to follow the principles of democracy and law.
