England's Nalanda
by abishek gowda on Apr 24, 2007 01:10 PM  Permalink

Well it's a very great news and am glad that they are rebuilding it. And if they match it with the same standard as before, the day is not too far that Oxford will be called as "England's Nalanda".

Reservation

Was there reservation even in those days? Arjun Singh must be rubbing his hands to bring in 100% reservation in this university.

India's greatest University is making a comeback
by Ahmad Siddiqi on Apr 24, 2007 12:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a very good news to me as an old Institution will be restarted.Nalanda Univsersity is one of the oldest learning centre.
I had a chance to visit this place way back three decades.
Bodh Gaya is also very famous as the oldest Temple of Mahatama Gautam Budha is still there and I was really surprised to see the quality,art,material and the overall structural engineering applied in that beautiful Temple.
As an Engineer,I was rather surprised but equally delighted to see that marvellous Civil engineering,art,sculpture and beauty in totality.
If such old monuments,places or any building are kept and maintained so nicely than it gives a tremendous pleasure and satisfaction.
Restarting the Nalanda University will improve the understanding about the Budha religion and other subjects tought there.
I read in my history books that students from all over the world used to come there to learn.
I,here once again,want to remind the lovely rediff readers that,even in Islam it is said that "The Holy Quran" says that'You must learn(Iqra, means in Arabic that'Learn"),even if you have to go to China".As China was very far from Saudi Arabia,so it was said that even going to China for learning is a must.
So many people had ben going far distant places to learn.So, now once again students will come there even from Saudia Arabia to learn,if not Budhism,but other subjects.
I am happy with this innitiative.
But,I doubt if the same quality of material is used in the building or not will be a big question?
Anyway,let us welcome this innitiative.
Your's sincerely,

Respected Mr.Rohit,Namaskaar/Aaadaabarz huzurewala;
Thanks for the reaction on my opinion.
It was really unfortunate that some cheap and mean muslim destroyed this University,if it is really true,which I learnt from u now only?
Anyway,I am a Muslim by birth and an Indian at most and I am willing to contribute whatever is possible for me and I also request others to contribute.
Do u know that even late Sir Syed Ahmad Khan had contributed a lot and even begged from others for the famous Aligarh Muslim University,Aligarh in U.U. from where I got my education?
So why not I contribute for this lovely and unique university?
Pl contact me on my Mobile no so that I can do what u suggest me?
Thanks once again.
regards.
Yr's Sincerely,
Er.Ahmad Rais Siddiqi(Alig)

you say '"The Holy Quran" says that'You must learn(Iqra, means in Arabic that'Learn"),even if you have to go to China"'

but unfortuntately you people ended up in India.

most of the beautiful monuments u want to preserve were destroyed by your people.

not only Nalanda , but Takshashila university which is now in Pakistan was also destroyed by ur people.

The fate of Bamiyan Buddhas a few years ago is well known.

We would welcome students from Saudi to Nalanda and they should learn Buddhism and repent their ancestors actions!

      if u do a proper study of history ull find a diff story.
the turko mongol race residing in cetral asia has always been known for plundering and having a nomadic lifestyle. their ancestors including genghis khan (who was not a muslim) had gone looted many places in china, europe, indian subcontinent and imddle east. they even had destroyed baghdad and the libraries there. but later on predessors converted to islam. but still they continued their old habits. the religion that they wished to follow was a comination of islam and their original religion and they somehow thought they were doing the right thing.
their race has surely committed lot of destruction including the bamiyan in afghanistan, which agn they feel was a correct thing to do as their ancestors had done similar things, but acording to islam are totally wrong things to do.
so its really unfair just to blame islam for all this. but people jus love to hate muslims as they are now common enemy for many successful nations and they are in they on the loosing side....and nobody likes to be with the loosers.

My very dear Muneer Abidi Saheb,
Assalaam-o-alaikum,Huzur-e-wala.
This is a very bad saying and u must not say so because it is not allowed in yr religion.
Allah does not allow this type of negative comments.
Pl appreciate the positive point and donnot say negative.
Mind it that I am not a Bihari.I was born and brought up in Aligarh in UP and got my educationa from AMU Aligarh but I also dislike this type of indeccent comments.
But,here I will say to you that;
Jo na bol sake achha;
Insaan nahien wo achha.
Jo bole achha hi achha;
Wo Khuda ka banda achha.
I have composed it just now for you my dear.
So,speak good for Bihari and others too.
Khudahafiz and F.A.Allah.

RE:let us start from Nalanda - Varsity equally famous as Nalanda found
by rohit roy on Apr 24, 2007 12:58 PM  Permalink
Thanks for the interesting report. But this university can't be compared to Nalanda for many reasons.( Please don't make it a regional issue)
1) Nalanda is the first university of world.
2) The quality and fame of it's pupils and well faculties.
3) The global existence in world map.
4) Many present days modern subjects started from there.
5) As compared to this university which existed in 15 century, Nalanda is as old as 5BC and survived even longer than this university (approxiamtely 2000 years).
No doubt nalanda is mother of all universities and it's importance is not even for India but for world. Same way other ancient universities too should be taken care of. But rifht now new nalanda is most welcome.

India's greatest university is making a comeback -- Nalanda University
by TS Prasad on Apr 24, 2007 12:39 PM  Permalink

It is indeed a time of happiness that the world's oldest University at Nalanda is 'coming back'. They should construct new buildings for the University at a distance from the ruins. The site at which the old ruins exist are not only for archaeological value, but also reminds the people of how brutal some human races could be.
