It is high time for everyone to realize that India has to say bye bye to any further nuclear test. Dr. Singh has never been honest about this particular aspect of the treaty. The parliament should take up this treaty. Manmohon knows he does not have the votes, butIndian elites badly want this treaty as they want to foster close relationship with USA. USA is the 800 pound gorilla that will thow its weight around.

make friends with the US, and then you can do anything. The US has realized that India is one of its few allies in the world. There is some people in the US who still view India with condescension, esp the democrats, but then there are numerous Indians who still regard the US with suspicion, right? The differences will peter out in the next 10 years. Once we join the club of trusted US allies, like England, Australia, Israel and Canada (we are almost there already), dont worry, we will have no problem doing what we want, when we want.

India will never be in the same class as UK, Israel, Australia and Canada. India is a left leaning democracy whereas the others are rather right leaning countries. They have accepted US big brotherhood, but Indian public will never accept US hegemnony despite Indian elites' willingness embrace everything american.
