good going, SC!
by secret secret on Apr 23, 2007 04:11 PM  Permalink

What would India do without the HC and SC judiciary? Let's hope this stay progresses into a judgement against the OBC reservations as such. Everyone knows that all that Arjun Singh and all the other politicians care about is the OBC votes.

And shame on the IIT and IIM students for not protesting like the daring AIIMS students did.

one more setback to congress govt
by suresh venkat on Apr 23, 2007 04:08 PM  Permalink

Cheers!!!!!!!!The VOTE BANK politics ruin the nation. This is great setback to the central governmant and expecially to the HRD ministry.

Let our so called secular politicians realise that they have to work really towards the upliftment of the poor and needy at the basic levels of education irrespective of caste and religion.

Stay by the SC
by Shridhar Iyer on Apr 23, 2007 04:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a good decision by the Supreme Court.

I would be happier, if the Judiciary, declares that it is unconstitutional, and take the Govt to task for having come out with such a proposal to divide the society further with 'vote bank' policy in mind.

Already there are more than enough reservations in favour of SCs, STs, Dalits, Minorities, etc, etc., and the general category people are left with a very few seats in all educational institutions. Students from General Category with very good marks, are unable to get admissions in to good Colleges/professional institutions, due to this Govt 'vote bank' reservation policies.

I only hope Judiciary takes the Govt to task for all these ills, unconstitutional activities, and tell them to respect merit and give concessions in fees, scholarships, books at concessional rates, etc. to only meritorious, but economically weakers sections of people, irrespective of any caste/community/religion, etc.

I don't know whether we will live to see such a day in this country.

With best wishes,

V.Srinivasan

Dear Harish,
Judiciary doesn't have the authority to dismiss the Govt. It can only pass strictures, which can embarass the Govt. The present decision is also only a 'stay'. It may be vacated later on. Let us keep our fingures crossed till the final verdict/judgement is given.

Srinivasan.
