Quota
by siddhartha srivastava on Apr 23, 2007 05:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

With the quota for OBC the total reservation will increase to 52% or may be higher. I have a suugestion. Pass a bill for reservation of remaining 48%, presently not covered under resrvation, with a condition that vacant seats would be filled by the reserved quota in case suitable candidates are not found in SC/ST/Minorities?OBC etc etc categories. What say???????

This is in continuation of my earlier comments. What I was suggesting is that let there be no quota reservation for SC/ST/Minorities or OBC etc etc and let there be a quota only for castes/catagories not presently covered under reservation. This will give more leaverage to SC/ST?Minorities and OBC etc to compete and get more education/jobs as tehre will be no sub-reservation under each catagory amonst themselves.

Reservations help no one and hurt many
by Anurag Shrivastava on Apr 23, 2007 05:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Companies hire from IITs and IIMs because they think that these institutes have very bright people. They will still go these institutes but will only hire from the non-reserved categories. The SC/ST students of IITs/IIMs have done much worse in their careers than upper caste students from B and C category institutes. Only a fool believes that reservations help. The only thing that helps is hard work and intelligence - not fake IIT/IIM degrees. Reservations only deprive intelligent students access to study with other bright people. Reservations also hurt lower castes - because even the brightest student from non-reserved category will get discriminated against - in college and at work. I have seen this happening blatantly and makes me very sad.

why people are not understanding the real cause... Your statements like so and so people havent done well and so and so people have done well.. are COMPLETELY without facts and figures. SC/ST people from IIT/IIMs have doen far better than other people from same colleges... Thats what IIT/IIM teaches you to "Excel in Life". ABout fake degrees... huh you dont know a life of IIT/IIM grad as the person who is passing and having a degree from these institutes cannot afford to have a fake degree.. If they dont have it, they will never get it.. who so ever it is..

So stop compalianing and be constructuive..." Rather than saying this is right or wrong, suggest an option.. Like suggest the mode of resevration shoudl be economic condition rather than casteism... It needs more efforts to suggest solution rather than pointing out problems without facts and figures

NO TO ANY RESERVATION FOR ANYONE
by Aviral Garg on Apr 23, 2007 05:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This step is not a complete and final step, public should be thankfull to supreme court only if no reservations will there.
Any politician demanding for reservation should be hanged up side down and nude on roads till they are dead.

do not mind arjunsighs cheapness for vote bankpolitics. he is a politician and it was expected from him but it pains me when an educated person like manmohan is heading the nation and he is silent on this kind of cheap vote bank politics. i had great respect for manmohan singh when became primeminister but looking at his silence on such issues he has proved that he only respect his chair and no respect for justice otherwise he could have resigned on this issue in the beginning itself saying that this is a populist issue and he canot support this issue. at least he has lost all respect from the people like me which he gained as a finance minister and as a honest person.

I ac not actually aquainted with the caste system. Though I am a Brahmin or I suffix my caste to my name, when on one side trying teh abolish caste discrimination on the other side otherwise. I suppose the government is inclined to abolish the upper calss and not the caste system as such. That means some day, the OBC right now will be treated as the forward class and the forward classes now will become backward...As far as education is concerned, it must be on the basis of merits. Should there be a quota it should be based on the economic strngth and not on the basis of caste system. I welcome the verdict of the Sc and hope the government , instead of concentrating on the sects should concentrate on the poor and the needy.

There is more dirt to come from Arjun..
by Ratnesh Sahay on Apr 23, 2007 05:30 PM  Permalink

It is congress with crappy stalwarts of the likes of Arjun Singh, Ghulam Nabi, Dashmunshi et al that one can expect anything happening in this country of great historical background. It is such a pity that in this modern world people like arjun singh, v p singh can still survive. Why not all the countrymen unite and stand against him and voice our point so loud that this issue should become a nightmare for anybody to touch even in future.

It is only because of our century old laidback attitude that we have been consistently ruled by Mughals, English and now by these sort of Politicians.

C'mmon Wake up India.
