Congrats!
by Sarnath Kannan on Apr 23, 2007 06:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Congrats to scientists on producing the most
potent missile. I am not sure what capabilites
it has. But 290Kms is quite short range.

I remember that, when they first started the project, it was told that the missle could be used in air, water and land.. All 3 in 1 missile. So, What capabilities wer tested?
If Rediff publishes that one too, it would be great!

Yes, it is short range. But the main point here is its super-sonic speed.

And at that speed getting a high precision is very difficult until it has got the best in class navigation and control system.

Which this missile has.

BrahMos....
by Sarnath Kannan on Apr 23, 2007 06:33 AM  Permalink

Brahmins and Moslems -- That what this stands for.. I figured out.. Haa..

This missile should come under reservation and 27% should be given to OBCs via Ration stores..

290 kms is very short range..
Countries r talking about inter-continental missiles that can cross atlantic and still attack..
With 290 kms, u can hit pak and srilanka only..

Ok, Try to get long-range working guys....

@Kannan,
Some missiles needed to accuratly hit your house window & hit the TV correctly, those need not have to be that much distance. Some needed for city as a whole, that need not have that much precision. Yes, lot of countries have them, we also have them lately for our defensive purpose.

Dude we have agni which has a range of 3500 and this missile is not for its range its an interim short range missile with great speed and precesion. And since we have indegenios technology for space launch vechiles its not a difficult thing to develop an intercontinental missile but that is of no use to us as if now because our enemies are lyeing just besides us.

What we actually require is

1) sophisticated anti-missile system that can
chase down missiles and de-activate them.

2) A means to dislodge a nuclear-warhead from
an in-coming missle without detonation.

3) Intelligent missiles that can change
direction and wisk off bombs and anti-missile
systems and hit targets.

4) A missile fired in any direction will
automaticall figure out its way to
Islamabad or Karachi according to ground
control :-)

@Kannan,

your dreams are great. But don't you think we should appreciate whatever our scientists have achieved so far and encourage them to do more.

Sure deftly. We should. Thats why I put a "congrats" message above too.

Also, I am really skeptic about how much DRDO
has actually done.

Knowing how un-professional Indians are, and how
in-efficient and talent-startved DRDO is, I
really dont want to pat their backs, unless they
actually deserve it. THats y, I come across as
a harsh man.

I work for an IT concern and I really see how
Indians are "shameless cheats", "cowards" and
they just do NOT explore and find out truths.

This lack of explorative mind in Indians is what
bothers me. Our guys dont dream at all because
they just happen not to believe in their own
will power in achieving it.

May God give some perspective to Indians!

Successful completion of any scientific project gives me pleasure, and if will be related to our countries own interest, that will proud me.
So many many congratulation to the joint scientific community......

Congratulations to the Indian and Russian Scientist for this achievement.
I hope many such joint operations would be possible with growing relationship between India and erstwhile soviet block Russia.
Thanks,
Umesh

All mother of invention is necessity, who created necessity?
by hi on Apr 23, 2007 01:07 AM  Permalink

All mother of invention is necessity, who created necessity?
Also, for destroying Pakistan or giving disturbance to other neighbors, we don't need any more research, what ever we have is enough.
But it is not about giving disturbance, it is about defending ourselves better so that an aggressor, thinks twice even to think about an aggression.
