The article does not violate the copyright because the messages are not private. Any one can log in to Orkut and check her messages.

sudip Incorrect assumption. Having an Orkut account and having access to her messages is not equivalent to having right to publish her messages without her consent. When in Orkut, you are bound by Orkut T&C and abide by a policy that allows you access. Just like having an homtail account does not entitle a person to publish privately written e-mails.
Rediff should leave her private and personal space alone and presents an uncomfortablepicture of messing with her personal stuff after her death.
Can anybody tell me if there is any institution or society or authority where I can report a web site as abuse so that they can ban it permanently? I would like to report www.rediff.com as abusesickunder parpaleunwell so that we can have some relief.
Rediff has violated Minal's copyright and should be punished for this. No serious newspaper or online site would ever think of using published (or unpublished) material without the necessary authorisation from the owner. Since Minal is no longer there, it stands to reason that Rediff News Bureau would be even more respectful of her property. The person who wrote the article should be fired and Reediff should withdraw it apologising to the family for such oversight. We will remember you Minal, and your brief life that has brought joy to many.
I think this is rediff at its worst.....orkut scraps are meant to be personal....you have no right to publish somebody else's personal messages to friends .....especially when the person is not in our midst to defend herself. This is shameful rediff ....the level to which you can stoop in sensationalism.
Hi, I am regular reader of rediff and this is the first time that something posted by rediff has made me upset.
I am talking about the article where you have posted personal scraps of Minal Panchal. (http://www.rediff.com/news/2007/apr/19vtech4.htm)
Posting someone's personal scraps is totally wrong and unethical. I know that the person is no more but I do not see any point in exposing that person's personal life here.
YOU TURDS ARE THE CHEAPEST PIECE OF JOURNALISTS IN THE WORLD THIS THE LAST TIME I VISIT YOU PIECE OF SHIT SITE, THE GUNMAN SHOULD HAVE COME INTO REDIFF OFFICE INSTEAD AND SHOT YOU ALL YOU GUYS. NO ONE WOULD MOURN THAT FOR SURE!!!!
I really don't understand why some people are criticizing this article. somebody has died, and brutally, and this article is trying to make a fond remembrance of her. We are all grieving, and that's that.
for god's sake, stop putting such crappy msg's. my sincere condolences to Minal's family.

Looks like this Rediff guys dont have any shame left. Orkut should now also stop visitors from reading the Scraps of the users. Its a very open system where anyone can see anyones scraps, photos and friends...
