Frnds, Rediff does not care for anyone as long as they get more readers. After publishing "All indian students are safe" newsitem they have now outdone themselves by publishing orcut messages. Now it can be argued that these are open to public view on the website. However they still are morally wrong.
Rediff and also most indian news channels just dont care for human suffering.Like vultures they profit on death and misery. I guess only way they will learn is if we advitizers respond with their pockets. That will only happen when ppl dont visit the website. I dont know if ppl addicted to rediff can do that. Indian law system should change to award damages for mental pain caused by these erroneous and careless articles .
How can breach into a privacy of a girl who is no more and publish messages.... you ppl have reached the height of indecency by publishing these conversation. NOT EXPECTED FROM REDIFF!!!
does rediff conveniently forget about the other victim who lost his life? is it because they could exploit the loss of a youthful girl as opposed to an old man?
there have been tributes to Dr. G.V. Loganathan by fellow professors and students. would rediff bother to post their testimonies?

i am trying to say that Dr. Loganathan doesn't seem to have enough in him to attract rediff's special page. he does not attract as much attention as a young gal.
I would personally sue rediff.com for posting scraps on this site. Thanks to rediff now millions of people who read this website now know what minal used to do by reading her scraps and would judge her based on her scraps. I wonder how you came up with this ingenius idea of describing minals past life. Looks like no one really has a right to privacy in India anymore.

apparently, i think that scraps are not meant to be private on orkut! u have a private 'messages' section for ur private communication. do not tell us that u never read anyone else's scrapbook!

"apparently", orkut is a network of "trusted" friends, scraps are not for publishing on news sites, have u wondered why scraps never show up in google search results? Give it a thought, it may become apparent.
Have been reading news of messages on Minal's death? Her life simply communicates - Friends, It's not how long we live, but the way we live is what matters the most! Her nature is what everyone seems to be talking about, what a glorious quality that is!! God bless her soul....as she leaves behind something for all of us to learn and imbibe in our lives. Amen
I dont know why people are making a fuss about personal messages. If a person has kept his profile open and anyone can read their scraps/messages then how can it be called personal? I am not judging if this article is right or wrong but atleast you cant say these messages are personal.

If somebody writes an article on internet, he has copyrights over that thing.. you just can't copy paste such articles...

I agree with your point, but no one here is worried about cyber crime they are all complaining about a moral crime. I dont think these messages can be called personal, they are opinions about a person by her friends which she thought were ok to be read by others.
This is really shameful on the part of Rediff. That its journalistic standards have dropped of late is evident to anyone who visits this site. However, this time Rediff has really crossed the boundaries of shamelessness. I cannot believe that this so called "article", containing personal scraps of a recently deceased person, passed the editorial board. Dissemination of information is one thing; however, these personal scraps give absolutely no information or insights about the horrific incident at V.Tech. If Rediff journalists did want to report something in memory of Minal, they could have at the very least made the effort to contact her friends at V.Tech and publish their views. This is sheer laziness on part and belies a total lack of professionalism and ethical standards on Rediff. Did anyone at Rediff bother to place himself/herself in the shoes of Minal's family and friends and think of what they must be going through, and how they might feel at seeing this kind of rubbish published online? If the editors have any shame left, they should remove this article immediately, post an apology for publishing it in the first place, and then write a more sincere article about Minal. I dont usually post on the Rediff message boards, however nonsensical their articles might be, but I found this to be really despicable.

Orkut scraps are viewable by anyone and everyone, the person to whom it belongs has every authority to delete it if he/she does not want others to go through it and to go even further u can post messages to the person for more privacy...common all u guys out there including the one who posted this message must have sometime gone through someone's scraps....THEN WHY THIS HYPOCRISY!!! I find nothin wrong in this article...

Agreed the person has authority to delete scraps. I do right now and perhaps you do too. But do you think Minal still has the authority to do the same? Would you like messages posted to you shown all over the internet without your consent?

Yes we know the risks. But here rediff is taking advantage of a person who cannot speak up to promote itself. Talk about ethics. Will you sit quiet if rediff posts your scrap messages here on their website?

I agree completely, even though it is right to write good things in an eulogy, they better confirm what they write. They cannot publish some arbitrary scraps anyone can write in orkut. Shame on rediff.
