weird
by badri jaya on Apr 24, 2007 09:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This article says nalanda university was started in 5th century. It also says lord budha visted the university- Lord budha lived and died between 1st and 2nd century BC. Weird stuff. It is almost like the puzzles in egyptian pyramids.

Mr Jaya --- first learn to distinguish between Budha and Buddha!

Budha is the planet Mercury.

Buddha is the title by which a self-realised person is known.

Siddhartha Gautama, the buddha who founded Buddhism, is reputed to have lived between 563BCE and 483BCE.

It just says Buddha visited the "town" not the university. The town was a centre of Buddhism even before the University came into place.

Wikipedia says the following, "According to the Kevatta Sutta[13], in the Buddha's time N%u0101land%u0101 was already an influential and prosperous town, thickly populated, though it was not till later that it became the centre of learning for which it afterwards became famous."

Exodus of people towards mumbai was unstoppable few years back, but now good things are happening here aswell. Its all that media, who has old habbit to present "Bitter Bihar". I wish to tell, that was past, now look at present.

Congrats to Rediff for highlighting such news
by S Narain on Apr 23, 2007 01:22 PM  Permalink

We need to hear more of such stories which may not be a sensational news & of great commerce value but would get a goodwill of Indian Public. There is always a silver lining even in the dark clouds in Bihar. This is was what is the strength of Indian civilisation as spoken by our great JRD tata ,which has made india survive for 5000 years in spite of all the great dooms & disasters it has been through in this journey (inspite of the corrupt, selfish,& traitors like politians/peoples who have lived in this contry for so many years . Becuase, there have also been good people to balance the wicked and suckers who have lived in India through centuries.
