This is really excellent effort to provide exposure to 2200 odd under previlaged Girls. Let everybody in the society look around and find a similar kid and try to influence them to get educated. A littel effort from all of us can uplift the status of our country from poor to the rechest one.

It's true. Our country needs such stories other than world cups and bachan shaadis. I heartily congratulate Nitish Kumar for making a difference
It is enlightning to hear this story. This story fills us with pride in the high reporting standards of the rediff reporters.Keep it up guys. This is indeed a light after a tunnel of darkness
I would like to congratulate the editors and reporters who were involved in bringing such good story to public. This is what most of the educated and sincere citizens of India wants - good motivational true stories.
My sincere thanks to Nitish Kumar Ji for trying his best to overcome crucial problems such as illiteracy and sanitation.
These girls are truly a source of inspiration for many.
I request to supreme authority of this country to make some important changes. Please make it compulsory for every student graduating from top most institutions of India be it BSc level, MSc level, PhD devel, IIT level or MBBS and MD level, to go to rural areas of Bihar and educate and adopt at least single child for education through some group effort where every enrollign student could contribute into the organisation and help those under privilaged to become great citizens. Every college and institute can create such groups, which can significatnly change the picture and give birth of new India. This will eradicate corruption, suppression and will really give us a healthy happy India, a strong India where corrupt divide and rule politicians will be automatically outcasted. believe me. Educating and making these underprivilaged children is the biggest arsenals against such corrupt people trying to drag India to backwardness, and this possible by every single individual who is educated. Adopt one such child and make them successful. propagate this to all your friends and media. i have done it and got success. you too can do so. You will be making and shaping a life with this effort.
As most of the people have posted their Views about the article, I also appreciate & acknowledge reading a good & encouraging article in rediff.com.
Nalanda in Bihar is the place which gave 1st university to the world & today the state has become the most illetrate.
I suggest to State & Central govt to built the best university in the world in Nalanda & bring back the name of country on top.
repeating Ash & Abhi marriage & giving it a big hype is of no use to most of the people & is a waste of money & time.
Press & Electonic media is a very powerful mode of communication & spreading a message to the masses.
If the country has to progress, 1st responsibility lies with Media, citizens will get carried away what they are shown.
I remember an article from our Great President Abdul Kalam that in Israel after bomb explosion in Israel, the front page of the newspaper next day was carring a good article which motivates people to carry out their day towards progress.
My Father says in 1950/ 1960 everyday in the front page of newspaper President of India Photo used to be there. now we get Sachin & Amithab, what a change. Today Media is completely commercial & has no responsibilty towards the nation, only need freedom for press, In one of the survey it came out that good nos of people in India don't know who is their President.
I Will like to emphasis that Media should wake up, Grow, come out of coocoon, do something good for the nation. Rediff can play a very active role towards this.
People all over the world likes to read & talk good things, it motivates & shows us light for the day.
Once again keep it up & will look forward to see more of such articles
For the first time MNCs came to Patna University and did campus recruitments of about 1000 students directly at graduate level. Wipro, TCS, Mahindra, ITC and Infosys were among them. It all started with an effort of a NGO. More companies are comign in line to recruit them.
We need more such stories. Enough of gossips, violence and all. Rediff should continue to highlight such success stories especially those from places such as Bihar. These might seem, on a superficial level, to be insignificant stories. But it going to be these students, these girls, who are going to lead Bihar and rewrite our views about this state. Rediff has taken the first step to acknowledge this and should contiue to do so.
