India must reject this deal
by Dipak Bose on Apr 20, 2007 05:03 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India must reject this deal, it is a surrender to the Anglo-American dominance, nothing else.
1)It will ruin India's nuclear weapons programme. India will be balckmailed by Pakistan and China.
2) India does not need any technology from USA; it has got everything from the Soviet Union since 1974 and from Russia now.
3) Russia has suggested to build offshore nuclear plants to avoid the sanctions imposed by the Nuclear Suppliers Group.
4) USa wants to control the FBR( Fast Breeder Reactors) built by the Soviet Union in India. FBR does not need much Uranium, it needs Thorium, which India got in plenty. FBR produces Plutonium, which can be used in nuclear weapons and as fuel for power stations. FBRs can make India independent. That is the reason USA wants to control these and give India instead very old Uranium based power stations at a cost which is 10 times higher than the corresponding nuclear plants Russia can supply.
5) USA is not India's friend. It is an enemy in disguise. Remember the Sanskrit verse:
Bisha Kumva Poya Mukham
( A vessel full of poison but on the top there is honey).
That is the exact description of USA.
Don't be deceived by them. They only want money from India and want to ruin India.
Remember ENRON, promoted by Dick Cheney ran away from India without paying Rs.6300 Crores to the Industrial Development Bank of India. In the same way now American poerr companies want to rape India.

Its not about transfer of technologies but having fuel from the nuclear reserves spreaded around the world. The thorium tech u suggested is devised in India and did not come from Russia. But I guess this really does not solve the problems in the near future and need more R&D. I Guess it was used by India as a strategy of having the nuclear deal in favour to india and to have a upper hand during negotiations. Because America does not want India to be Independent based on these adavance tech. On the other hands India want the energy for the near future. Its now that we are seeing such a growth in Asia and India would not like to giva away the advantage to china due to the curbed situation of Energy. I hope India or any other country would not let the advance research out of the focus. India is just buying time with this deal so tha she can follow the path of growth without slowing down. Forget the idealistic vision and claiming America enemy, think wisely what is good for India. Beware every country in the world looks for domination and seize any chance coming forward, whether small or big. At they all dream for the better world. Its cat & mouse game and I hope India is playing a cat here.

Not an Indian technology or invention.

FYI USA had FBR reactors in 1950s. Also 6 more countries have built FBR reactors 30 years ago.

Well I hope the guy like Jamali understand that matter is not about who discovered FBR first but whether u have it or not. India developed it independently and owe the power. Now even more important consideration what purpose does it solve. Does it really gonna help our near future energy requirements? Moreover are we looking forward to the handicapt nation with no energy. How about a nation who can build Nuclear weapon because No US on top (Which I am afraid will always be) but no energy supply because the friends of the mighty will not supply any fuel. Its analysation of the situation of the future. I guess we got to be careful but also decisive in the same time. you do not come on the table with thinking mind, instead a prepared mind. When India was offered with the deal India must be in prepared situation with all the calculations done to decide and not to scratch the head. In my point of view, this deal is in favour of India and its future.

if Kakodkar is gorilla then US is VULTURE

How DARE the US call Great Kakodkar Gorilla. To hell with them.

We need a deal but we shall not accept some 2 bit yankee calling Kakodkar Saheb Gorilla.

On the other hand if American mean that he is extremely logical and forceful in his reasoning then we have no problem. US must allow Indians reprocessing rights and testing freedom.

Kakodkar is the gorilla
by Raju Puducode on Apr 20, 2007 12:22 AM  Permalink

Kakodkar is the gorilla in the room is a figure of speech meaning that he carries lot of weight in the decision making process. Nothing deragatory in that statement. Having said that it should be remembered that US actions, both govt & industry, always depend on 3 priorities that it should be in favor of US, US, and US. Let us not kid ourselves that the recent US interest in India is due to their love for India. It is beneficial to US strategic interest & to meet their long term goals in this part of the world & lot of money to be made in India similar to China. So Indian policy makers should be concerned only with India's long term permanent interests whatever decision they plan to take.

US, we need a deal w/ you for sure, for our energy problems, but we need a fair deal.

US, we need a deal w/ you for sure, for our energy problems, but we need a fair deal.
We are surrounded by neighbors w/ nuclear, so make sure that no dotted lines in the deals.
Mighty superpower USA, yes, we have some other costly means of generating electric power, but we want to do as per you say, in cleaner ways.
For that we need your support. Use the same logic you supplied previously to others w/o any restrictions, apply similar to India too.

West will never change. 400 years back they came to india for business did fox politics, divided, ruled, got kicked out, and seemed to have learnt that slavery is not something good in mankind, speak good, call everyone to be broad minded, call for globalisation, call for innovations, called for education, stand first for any humaitarian help in the world, act as if THEY have re-invented a NEW world, free of slaver, colonies, alas, they, the people have not changed. They are just where they were 400 years back. Dont fall for the same game.

Kakodkar is the gorilla in the room, say US lobbyists

Kakodkar is the gorilla in the room, say US lobbyists

It is one of the sad days in the history of India and US relations. Calling the most respected and decorated Scientist of this great Country as gorilla is an insane act. The lobbyists are highly opportunistic always and works with vested interests. In the case of India, the Scientific Community puts Country more important to them than their family. India is a responsible nuclear power. It behaves as a responsible nuclear power always. Terming Kakodkar is tainted him self is most objectionable on the part of the lobbyists. Every one around the world knew who are tainted. Kakodkar is a true Indian patriot and highly dedicated Scientist of this country. US Lobbyists should desist this kind of cheap technique attacking a frontline science manager of this country in a derogatory manner of our motherland. It is very cheap for US to call him tainted himself for practicing patriotism for his country. Many high dignitaries of US are also tainted. There is nothing wrong for working country and patriotic to his country. All the treaties are deals should be win-win not like win US and loose others policy.

The westerners always put some catchy sentimental words into their talk when they cant get their way out. And when we do the same, they want to snap to the point. As if there are no better words in english at all. Dont keep polishing their shoe

No need to get emotional. It just means Kakodkar is tough to deal with and does not tow US line.

If you are so sentimental, let an Indian express frustration like: Rice is a witch to deal with. Or Nick burns is a 50 pound poison thorn.

"gorilla in the room" is a figure of speech!!
it is used to imply something really obvious which nobody wants to talk about. Here it means that Dr.Kakodkar is the most obvious person to explain Indias positions and convince the skeptics in USA that India is not going to misuse the fuel bought from the US and that nobody is willing to send him to the USA to do that.
Dont hate the USA so much that your judgement is skewed so badly!!

Such stupid words are not required when talking about someone dignified. You can use that kind of talk on your friends or yourself. Good or bad, no need such things when it comes to not so simple matters.

why congress never understand and want oimplement N-Deal irrespective of indias interest?
by neel sanghvi on Apr 19, 2007 10:16 PM  Permalink

This looks nothing but implementing n-deal strategoy by congress by throwing responsibility to someone else. government has to be firm and have to stick to the india's interest and should not work for india's loss. It is pathetic that at this stage also government is not sure what the deal is and is not able to explain to US lawmakers. if government can not explain then why is government in power? it is useless to have government like UPA.

One should worry more about the problem in one's own country.

Why are you so concerned about the problems in India?

Most probably your identity is anti-India - just like identity crisis ridden Pakistan.
