Dher hai andher nahi!
by A.V.SUBRAMANYA on Apr 19, 2007 01:55 PM  Permalink

Good to know that the HC has taken up this case. In India, the money power is the strongest of all. Why the lower court Judge not order re-trial of case? what was the fun in telling that police has bungled the case and giving less punishment.

Its much better, than our present nursery-fail politicians running the nation. Where not a single politician is clean. At least lawyers and judges have been to school at least.

Hight Court takes congnizance
by Ajith Nair on Apr 19, 2007 01:41 PM  Permalink

I hope this means that the verdict will be re-examined....don't think we can blame the earlier judge though. In our legal system, the judgement is only as good as the evidence produced. What needs to be investigated is the evidence collection process by the Cops. If they did goof up, who is accountable?
Hope this move takes that smirk off Alistair's face!

Justice should prevail
by sewa mumbai on Apr 19, 2007 01:37 PM  Permalink

If it were an accident due to mechancal failure we can agree the judgement delivered was fair.

What would the 5 Lakh fine imposed on the culprit mean to an affluent family - PEANUTS. Alister's alcohol bill an year could be 5 lakhs a year.

But at the same time see how the blind judge has evaluated the cost of lives of pavement dwellers. 5 lakhs for 7 lives. Unbelievable.

These criminals were drunk to the hilt and rammed their vehicle in the wee hours of the morning killing those innocent labourers.

These family members of the culprits should pay 10 lakhs to each of those killed snd that too would be only a small compensation.

These spoilt-children should be behing bars for three years so that they know the value of money and time. More than any thing they will learn to value others' lives, comforts and discomforts.

I think the District Judge who gave this verdict should also be made accountable for giving such a ruling.

I remember a dacoit called Mohar singh had once said you Kill 1 person you are a murderer, kill 10 you are a dacoit and kill 100 you are a politician

nice dream. trying to change satan into saint. People like Pereira do not have any morality and feelings. first he killed people and dosen't have slightest of remorse and is now tring to avoid punishment by all foul means.nothing can change them . he ought to be hanged or given life long imprisonment.

congratulations
by Kasyap on Apr 19, 2007 01:24 PM  Permalink

Congratulations. My respect for the judiciary and the confidence is back after the severe jolt from the previous judgement. Court I hope is not bounded always within the restrictions of what police can submit, police has got its own agenda and interests which are very obvious.
