Congrats HC for such suo motu effort. Now when the case is admitted in HC , Mr. jethmalani the most eligible lawyer will appear in the court from pereira side.

We should publicly hate lawyers like Jethmalani openly.

Judges to be made accountable for lapses.
by ANDREW FERNANDES on Apr 19, 2007 02:15 PM  Permalink

It's high time judges consciously does justice to each and every case in this country. We come across several such cases. However, the role of media should be appreciated. They should highlight similar cases of common man in India and try to ensure justice for all.

its good to see that Bombay high court has taken interest in this particular case. The judiciary is fine in our country ,it is only the investigating agencies who goof up cases for reasons best known to us.I hope justice prevails so that many more incidents like this can be averted.

The judge, time & money.
by Piyush Bhargava on Apr 19, 2007 02:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The judge should also be made accountable. All the evidence was before him. what was he doing when the police were investigating the case shoddily. Why din't he tick of the police at that time. Now the same questions will be asked by the high court. The judge should be penalised for the time and money spent on the case.

No evidence was there before him. He even critisised the police. He cannot decide to hang the guy like the Iraq court. Collecting the evedence and presenting them to the court in logical manner is the duty of police. If it is not done, blame has to go only on Khakhis walking with Lathis...

pereira case
by V K Nair on Apr 19, 2007 02:05 PM  Permalink

dear sir,
the law of the land proclaims equal justic to all citizens of her sons. the culprit in this case is a high profiled one hence manipulation of facts at various levels and the resultant light punishment. justic must be done to the victims' relatives & culprit severely punished.

the extraordinary ability of the mumbai police was on display when they recovered the mobile phone of the son of Vinod Khanna, the BJP MP within 24 hours of its theft. Then why laxity in this case? any answers?

Lower courtjudge too, shud be asked to appear, and prove why he aquitted him. And this trial shud be fast before the defnce could buy out witnesses and those who matter. But anyway, well done HC, at least one can hopefor justice, in front of high ad mighty.

Good to know that the HC has taken up this case. In India, the money power is the strongest of all. Why the lower court Judge not order re-trial of case? what was the fun in telling that police has bungled the case and giving less punishment.
