Sinner
by Vasu on Apr 18, 2007 10:03 AM  Permalink

The student has sinned by taking away innocent lives who were no way connected with him. If at all, he could have stopped after killing his girlfriend, what I mean is even that is a sin, no one has the right to take even his own life, leave alone another person's life but atleast he could have stopped with killing his girlfriend since she was connected to him but what harm did others do?

Virginia shoot-out!
by Hemant Desai on Apr 18, 2007 10:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

My condolences to the friends & family of the victims involved in Virginia university shoot-out.

The U.S. government should redifine their arms control policy & avoid such incidents in the future.

Also security should be equipped with arms monitor at all the schools & universities.

Re, HKD.

shootout at the Virginia Tech
by rajeev pandey on Apr 18, 2007 09:54 AM  Permalink

I was at the Tech for 4 days in the last week of Feb-07. I had found the place absolutely calm, perfectly suited for teaching & learning. People on the campus are very warm and loving human beings. It has, therefore, come as a big shock that such a thing has happened at the Tech. Policy makers in the US seriously need to look at the issues of easy availability of hand guns and the violence that goes on unchecked in the videos, games and movies.

It can be worse in India
by Wise Man on Apr 18, 2007 09:54 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We are lucky that the firearms are not available in India as easily as in US. If they were, I'm sure there would be Verginia Tech episodes almost daily here...

peace is the ultimate
by vishwanathan on Apr 18, 2007 09:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

the trouble with us, humans, is that we do not yearn for peace. and where is peace? it is within us. our thoughts run haywire and madly go after whatever is easy, pleasurable and which satisfies our senses. instead, if the mind is made to turn inside, it will result in peace. this is the shortcut to peace which has been given to us by thousands of self-realized souls to humanity. we do not educate the children, youth and the old on this simple philosophy. it's a simple tip. the extensive consumerism, the mad rush after gratification of our senses is taking the toll gradually. against this extreme. Perverted attempts to curb the after effects of consumerism in the form of terrorism, fundamentalism will go nowhere in solving the problem. let's go after the truth and see how the problems of mother earth gets solved. again - turn inward, be non-violent (to you also), be calm and peaceful.
my sincere heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and injured, and also to the family and friends of the killer (who was led astray by our own world).

completely agree with you, but there is a long way to go for our civilization to turn inward.
