To media
by amit shaw on Apr 17, 2007 10:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Well, I generally don%u2019t post any comments. However, after reading this interesting discussion I could not resist myself.
Yesssss we should appreciate Sunitha%u2019s effort and her achievement. If anybody personally wants to be proud of her there is absolutely no problem. However, if media want to bring Indian sentiment and issue of so-called national pride then they should think twice.

Being working in a research institute for quite some time I have heard many achievements and breakthrough in science and technology by Indian researcher who are working in India. Some examples are:

An Indian mathematician makes an astounding advance in number theory http://www.hinduonnet.com/2005/04/25/stories/2005042506530100.htm

Thomson Honours Leading Indian Scientists http://scientific.thomson.com/press/2006/8334014/

My request to media is to give importance to those achievement too so that we, Indian also know where do we stand on science and technology.

Couldnt you guys at least convert to metric?
by Maximus Decimus Meridius on Apr 17, 2007 10:55 PM  Permalink

48 degrees is cold in Farenhiet and really hot in celcius. Boston never gets that hot, so I'm assuming you chaps copy-pasted from some american article (if so, the decent thing to do is to name your source, just like what you did with the photo). Ditto with the 28mph...

Know your audience, people!

India - a nation of critics
by sachin singhal on Apr 17, 2007 10:47 PM  Permalink

Sorry guys the comments from the users below gives me an impression that India is a nation of critics, where no matter what you acheive in life you will always be critcized by some smart a**es. As far as my experience is concerned these critics are nothing but the jealous underacheivers with a negative mindset which are a menace to any growing economy.

GET RID OF THIS NEGATIVE MINDSET

Some ppl are right here.
by Gagan on Apr 17, 2007 08:40 PM  Permalink

Ppl who are writing messages against the hate messages are doing a great job.

1000s of messages are just to put down people either they are scientists, celebraties or astronouts. Because what these people are saying in these messages rediff, show this, rediff do this, rediff show poor people, rediff show social stuff. or they will write.

why am not there, jealous, full of jealous.

Come on you hates, go and get a life.

You know what guys I am a social worker, and reading rediff from last 8 years and never posted in messages and today guys like you made me to post a message which I don't want.

I am posting this to say, people who do the social work don't ask others to do it or don't put other people down, doesn't matter who it is.

Either go out and do the things which you ask rediff to do here, if you can't do it, stop spreading hateness. What a bloody losers you are.

Why can't we stand another person achieving anything, evenif it is a simple thing?
by SB Rainbow on Apr 17, 2007 07:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I can not believe how much hate people are showing in rediff message boards. Can't we stand another person achieving heights, no matter it is a simple one or great one?

I fully agree with you. Dont know why people cant tolerate the success of others and always have to resort to foul language. In fact i was searching if there are any posts here reported for abuse. Was very happy to see none. And believe me this is the first time this has happened.
Is it what we Indians are made of...full to the brim with frustration and abusing others especially achievers like Ganguly, Dravid and Sachin is the only outlet ??

Why does Indian media go overboard????????????
by ram on Apr 17, 2007 06:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Anyone remotely connected to this country can gain recognition thru our media....He/She need not have any luv whatsoever with this country, though!!!

Sunita W,Sanjaya,Kalpana Chawla(late),Ben Kingsley and so many others...they wouldn't even think about our country, yet our media will go al out to hype them.

C'Mon we have lots of achievers in this country, let d media concern themselves with their contributions and we all feel proud than chase 2nd/3rd/4th gen Indians who have no "relation" with this country execpt their genes.

Very FUNNY..she has "Indian genes"..lol..:)..Even Ms. Williams wouldnt have thought about these so called 'genes'. Appreciate an individual by their achievement not by their Nationality, "genes"...:)

Rakesh Sharma u jerk, I could b most abusive...tujhe sharam aajayegi!! But being in a public forum and being faceless, I believe in some decency...anyways, who knows who my heroes are??/...what inferiority r u talking about, u senseless fella,- I am only saying that India has its own heroes and don't tout non_indians even if they r remotely Indians.Sunitha or Kalpana or Sanjaya- bet that dey hav no concern whatsoevr about their roots, it's just Indians like u who go ga ga ga over them. Better do somethin' gud, mayb u could be an Indian hero and be written abt in rediff.com, but bfore dat stop making nonsensical and immature comments like u made above..inferiority clx., more Indian than etc etc...just shows ur level of understanding

I fully agree with your ideas. There is saying'Having a butter in hand, someone searched for ghee". People of our country
should have confidence in ourselves. We
should prise for our strengths & give boost
to our bright brains instead of magnifying
someone else who do not have pride of Indian
/generation, never seen this Indian soil, culture & no values for INDIAN ethics except
few earlier genes migrated to other countries.

what the f**k. just read and appreciate. shuld get motivation from such stories and show it ur kids. going in space or for that matter running a 4 hr marathon are great acheivements. how many of u writing msgs here critizing rediff not to post such stories have any such acheivements in life. If yes, then send it across, i'm sure rediff will post it and we'll feel proud of u as well. If no, then keep ur mouth shut.. u loosers.
