Fifty years Wasted
by Srikanth on Apr 17, 2007 06:07 PM  Permalink

I wonder how much more wealth do these leaders want to accumulate. Do they not get bored?
The last fifty years have been wasted. Lets not waste the next fifty also! I think we the people must join hands (with NGO's for example), to create awarness and educate people. Only through literacy is there any hope. These politicians keep the people uneducated so that they can stay in power.

Uttar pradesh
by sisir majumder on Apr 17, 2007 06:03 PM  Permalink

The question arises in our mind--Are we living in an independent,Democratic Country? In uttar pradesh--people divided themselves in respect of Caste,Crime,Communalism, and Corruption. If this is the situation---We are not proceeding towards 21st century,we are moving backwards-- 18th century.Let the good sense be aroused in the minds of the people of that state---to cope up with the Global world.

I'm amazed, why can't every MP try to build his own constituency...at least these guys r giving back to their village...Why did vajpayee not do anything for lucknow, likewise why did vinod khanna not do any thing for gurdaspur and dharmender for his constituency...its easy to criticize and difficult to perform

Reforming your constituency on the expense of state fuds is never fair. And for your information the funds are alloted according to size and population.

This author is so true. One Yadav supporting another! Rajesh Yadav, the point is not whether Saifai or whatever god foresaken place it is, is developed or not, the question, how big a burden the states of UP and Bihar have become to this nation. Even with in India, I can vouch that very few people want biharis and UPites as their neighbours! They are generally bad behaved and Maa-behen kii gaali seems to come out of their mouths with out any rhyme or reason!

Moreover, these two states single handedly bog down our population growth control.

Pure milk tastes BAD!
by Open sky on Apr 17, 2007 10:48 AM  Permalink

Really there has to be something serious on what to put in news at which page.

If its written that one can't digest pure milk --- that could be acceptable.

Good Intention (Yes - you have) Good Service (Is there quality ?) = Good Site.

Is that all you can talk about?

I have read 15 different articles on rediff, on a variety of subjects, and under each I find your above post.

Surely you can do better.

Elections in UP
by Shridhar Iyer on Apr 16, 2007 05:04 PM  Permalink

The article mentioned above, is true, in UP and also in many parts of the country. Thats why we still remain as developing country even after over 50 years of our independence!

In Bihar, UP, and in certain pockets of Haryana, goondas rule the territory. They terrorise the voters to vote for a particular candidate, and the police do not take any action on such goondas!. It is a 'sangam' of criminals, corrupts, casteists, politicians. In Tamil Nadu, the parties try to get votes by offering freebies like free television sets, bicycles, land, etc. Honest, and law abiding citizens have no voice in this country. Even if they go to Police Stations or Courts, 99% chances are that they do not get any justice, instead they are put behind bars and tortured by false cases. I think people will not forget easily, when new cars were taken from show rooms in broad daylight, to ferry the guests, during the marriage of the daughter of the then CM, and the Police stoodby as mute spectators. To manage election related expenses, kidnapping rich peoples' children and demanding ransom is a common phenomena in UP, Bihar, and also in some other parts of the country!.

All these will come to an end, only when the election commission ensures with an iron hand that criminals are not allowed to participate in the election process (I wonder how this would be possible, when a large portion of people ruling this country belong to this category!), and the people vote and elect their representatives based on pure merit and integrity of the candidates. I wonder whether we will live to see such a day in this country!

With best wishes,

V.Srinivasan.
