Murthy's Comments
by jagdish chandra on Apr 14, 2007 08:20 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Murthy the so called Bill Gates of India should have known better when he chose to play the tune of India's national anthem. If you cannot play the national anthem of your country then who will do it for you? Murthy must face the consequences just as any other Indian citizen. In an interview with BBC in the late 1990's he had claimed that he was a staunch follower of Gandhi's principles & his simplicity. Well Mr. Murthy, Gandhi would not have been pleased with this incident nor is there any simplicity in this remark of yours.

you say "Murthy must face the consequences just as any other Indian citizen"...

For your kind information, there are no consequences for a comment for any other indian citizen!...other than "u r wrong. why did u say that?". No punishment or any nonsense like that.

Addressed to select showy patriots:
before ur blood (apparently) boils due to a perceived insult, why don't u state what u have done for ur fellow humans (to better their life) other than singing the national anthem. THEN, go on with ur "Ah! punish him! he isn't as patriotic as me! blah blah"

Yes. Let all Hindus convert to Christianity. Only then can they be saved from hellfire. They can then have the license to commit murders, rapes and robbery, and can still enter the gates of heaven for their belief in Jesus. But then, if all Hindus are converted, who can be labelled as barbaric? Manoj is a beacon of hope for religious intolerance.

manoj,

don't use this oppurtunity to profess ur hallucination with ur saviour. If Jesus was alive today, even he'd slap religious chauvinists like u.

...and my prob isn't with patriots, but with 'showy patriots' who talk patriotism but have done nothing in reality to help the less fortunate people around.

Murthy's comments and reactions.
by jagdish chandra on Apr 14, 2007 08:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Murthy's comments are an embarassment to all Indians. If we do not feel comfortable playing the National anthem of India then who should?.So what if he is a successful businessman, he should face the consequences just as any other common citizen of India would. After all India's economy is not reliant on Infosys alone. Murthy is considered a brand ambassador in the IT world. After this incident I would say MY FOOT!

Why should we care about foreigners laughing? We need to show love towards fellow humans without having ulterior motives such as imposing our faith on them and converting them by disparaging their religion and being intolerant.

'Hiprocrites'
by venu gopal on Apr 14, 2007 08:03 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Oh dear politicians! Pls don't pretend to be very patriotic and loyal to your country!! If something that's threatening India's "potential" role in this century in all possible areas including its international status, that's its governanace system and these bunch of politicians who have made a mockery of the system ruining the country in all possible ways!! I have no excuse for these 'people's representatives'. Hence, please shut your mouths and spend your time on more constructive aspects - reduce speaking and start doing some work, my representatives!
Murthy, on the other hand could have been a bit more careful that one section of this country is waiting to malign him and his organisation. There's nothing wrong in putting the instrumental version of the national anthem for a reason, and his reasoning is alright.

Setting an instrumental precedence
by Ramesh Nittoor on Apr 14, 2007 08:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is heartening that Mr. Vatal Nagaraj, though bit hot with words, is a strong and uncynical votary of National Anthem! It is also good to find that an accomplished Kannada writer like Shri S L Byrappa has defended Mr. Murthy. Both yet unreconciled standpoints are equally patriotic. Let us pray that the Court finally settles the issue in favour of accepting instrumental music for national anthem as an equally patriotic, honourbale and consistent with nationalistic spirit.

Murthy should be flogged!
by pavan chandra on Apr 14, 2007 08:00 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Murthy deserves to be kicked on the rear-end for placing the comfort of foreigners ahead of the national anthem. This is the typical Indian preoccupation of elevating and pampering those who have nothing but contempt for us (a-la BCCI-Greg Chappell).
Murthy should stick to what he does best and that is to avoid paying taxes, acquire hundreds of acres of land for himself and his family to enjoy while POOR people die all around them. Ofcourse they manage to get away with these injusticess by the time-tested brahmin method of uttering meaningless platitudes to divert attention away from the harsh and cruel realities of life in India.
Wake up people and smell the sh--, civil war is coming.

Concern for other, specially 'athithis' i.e. invited foreigners who are guests, business partners, investors, customers amongst other roles is not being unpatroitic. Such button nationalism on our sleeves does not create true value.

Buddhism and Jainism were not destroyed -in fact they are still thriving. At best they naturally faded for some time.
Unlike the Spain Catholics who massacred the Mayans and Incas. They Pope should publically apologize for this.

What about Nagaraj's statement?
by Chandran Ganapathy on Apr 14, 2007 07:32 AM  Permalink

Mr Nagaraj - rabble rouser par excellence - is reported to have commented that we don't need companies like Infosys. I think he should be deported.
Mr Nagaraj is a leech who thrives by rousing regional sentiments and I doubt if he has done any two bit service to humanity or mankind.

Unfortunately NM slipped his tongue on this one
by Vikatakavi on Apr 14, 2007 07:27 AM  Permalink

though many know his intentions are clear. And he apologized knowing his mistake. But i doubt none of the politicians who are yelling against him, can actually recite the national anthem correctly even from reading a book. The same guys doesn't waste a chance to fight with neighbouring states on issues like water/electricity/and whatnot forgetting the fact that all are indians and everyone should live in peace.

Let me give you an example. NM & His Trust donated 1.5 crore (good thing is they didn't gave it in cash, but built an excellent bulding) for fever hospital in Hyd. And the idiotic politicians just didn't used it for months even after it's completion complaining that there is no equipment. Get that? Not just building, they also want the building tobe equipped with freely funded apparatus and furniture. These are the kind of idiots who don't want to loose a chance to criticize him.

My Point is Politicians are all the same except a few ! and definitely these stupids don't fall under those few.
