First of all it should be understood that nobody in Pakistan is ever truly going to love the US government. This of course will not stop millions of people from applying for US visas with aspirations of migration.
From an American perspective, I can honestly say that our government doesn't think things through. For one, there is no reason for the government to take tax payer's hard earned money and hand it over to Pakistan as monetary donations. If you truly want to uplift the people of Pakistan, then the aid must come in form of civilian technology and infrastructure, not cash or military equipment. If anything, history has shown that all the expensive military hardware given to them is either used against their own dissident groups like the Baluchis or against India in Kashmir. I really question the intelligence of our leaders (Bush, Cheny and the now departed Rumsfield) who are somehow under the impression that these weapons will be used against the Taliban/Al Qaida groups or to hunt Bin Laden.
I am completely against monetary aid to developing nations because they just seem to promote corruption and/or terrorism. I also think that any country asking for aid should be able to show some progress.
Its double standard in dealing with terrorism in Pak is making south asia a dangerous place. Instead of aiding them with money US should squeeze thier finances. Pakistanis never keep there promises, look at Kargil and Lahore adventure. They tak advantage of your soft heart and stab at your back. The money which is being given to thier army ultimately goes in to Taliban with the help of ISI and Opium trade is main source of income for ISI. World should unite in disbanding ISI which has taken so many lives in India by sponsoring terror in INDIA. conclusion: Its US finances which thru Pak army and rerouted to ISI killing innocent people in India.
