Murthy may be a little better, But even he is not a 'Sheshan'
by sreekumar radhakrishnan menon on Apr 09, 2007 12:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Kalam was useless as President.

Remember the Office of Profit Bill he signed mutely. One of the Biggest Shame of Indian Parliament. The power hungry politicians of Congress and Left ganged up, they were not ready to forego their chairs of power and money. They shed all ideolagical pretence and sent the bill a second time to Mr. Kalam and he signed !! Sonia Gandhi shamelessly took her office of profits after resigning and again getting reelcted as MP!!!

But Murthy could be different, but even he is not a 'Sheshan'

Before writing off Kalam, read the Indian constitution. Do you know the powers of the president. Once you under stand this, you will realise the limitations of the president & why he acted so. It is very easy to be an arm chair critic & we Indians are vey good at it.

Not a Good Move
by SURENDRA MEHTA on Apr 09, 2007 12:24 PM  Permalink

Infosys and Information Technology Industry are the root cause of inflation in this country. This companies have always enjoyed tax exemption in this country and becasue of this they have distributed huge money to its employees by way of Salary and ESOP. SInce this employee force have been receiving huge sum from the company, this led to increase in the expenditure powers of this employees. But remember, all this employees were educated and such free distribution of salary has not gone down to the poor people of this country.

If you have to blame one person for inflation, i would blame whole information technology industry for this.

Not only this, Mr. Murthy was on advisory committee of Prime Minister, but never altered government about reason for inflation before FM and RBI governer found this.

Thus, i don't think selfish people who think of their own but not of nation as whole should be made president of this country.

M.S.Gill is the best option
by Baljit Singh on Apr 09, 2007 12:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think the best option is Dr.M.S.Gill (Former Election commissioner). He is the right kinda person for this post. Narayanmurty is an industrialsit. He will not be the better option. Someone from the Sikh community should be posted for this post and M.S. Gill is the best option.

Again smelling like Reservation, I'm from Maharashtra but Not saying Make any Maharashtrian as Prez.

Prez. should not be from Community but from India and for India.

Mr.Kalam is Muslim but he is man with self respect and firm with his decision and never bow in front of any Political Party in any condition - nor the greed for Prez. seat too, I agree some decision may go wrong by him but he regret for it too, how many Prez in past have guts to accept such.

Sorry friends I'm not against any community but when we have best choice why should fight to Select another, just vote and request Mr.Kalam that We Indian Need Them Most when there is Fight in at its Peak between Law System and Politics.

Kalam wants Narayana Murthy as prez. Do you?
by hemant atul parulekar on Apr 09, 2007 12:23 PM  Permalink

Nay...never... We have had enough of such meritocrats and academicians donning the post of the President of the Union of India who also happens to be the supreme commander of the three armed forces.

We do not want an IT honcho to take over as our next Prez. What are Mr. NRNs credentials as a politician. What is the guarantee that he will not exploit his position to expand his business. After all he owns and runs a profit making enterprise.

APJ is a rocket scientist of immense repute and we all acknowledge that fact but in his tenure as a prez he failed miserably. Are the president's duties only limited to delivering mundane lectures to groups of students from some elite institutions? I question APJs stand on U.P., Bihar, J&K and the clemency issue of Mohammad Afzal.

Also does our constitution allow an incumbent president to name his successor?

Mr.Murthy is not at all worthty enough to adorn the position the president of the Union of India. After all he is just an enterprenaur like so many others in the country. Have we forgotten how he messed up with the IIMs, a classic example of his egoistic attitude.

We need a president who will use his powers to keep a check over national governence instead someone who wasted his term in deivering monotonous lectures to children, IITians and Anna University...

Dr. Kalam didn't say he wants Murthy as a president. He only commented that Murthy would be fantastic. Both are extremely good for a presidential candidature.

Please stop misleading the people

by Amit Sharma on Apr 09, 2007 12:23 PM  Permalink

Very good idea. We need somebody like Dr Abdul Kalam or Mr. Murthy at the highest post. India will be fortunate enough to have Mr. Murthy in the President House. If he wishes not to accept that post; Dr Kalam MUST be given a second term.

Hi Mr.Menon..
On what parameters do you judge hin to be useless..given the fact that as a President of this country he has limited powers..Don't you feel that it is a Constitutional problem and nothis personal problem..Look at him as an individual and the glory he has brought to the Rubber-stamp post he holds..Arguably he is the best President India ever had and I am dead sure it would be very difficult to find a replacement..no matter you appoint Murthy or Seshan..or for that matter any Tom Dick and Harry..
So you first place your arguement how Murthy could make a difference..
I wonder if some people can stop cribbing evn if they get the best..open your eyes wide and realize what you have..
Bye
Satish

You said it, Dr.Susana. I agree with you.
Mr. Murthy is an egoistic, pompous, braggard who thinks he is the one who put India on the IT world map. People like him have misled the Indian IT professionals to believe that they are the best in the business but the fact remains that we are at the lowest rung of the IT ladder doing the most menial IT jobs and are nothing more than IT slaves. Murthy and his Infy are the biggest bandwagon of such slaves.

Mr.Murthy, if wishes were horses, begger would ride. But may I remind you, the position of the President of the Union of India is much more than a mere wish.

I am putting down here point-by-point to your views:-

#1 He is NOT interested for a second term, that's the whole problem is about!!! Why don't you open your eyes/mind and see the ground reality??

#2 This is highly annoying viral activity happening in India - just looks only count!! Am sure, something is terribly wrong with you. Looks doesn't matter - even APJ Kalam was criticized for the damn looks!! One should have the grand vision for the country, ambition to make those dreams into a reality!!!

#3 Is there any constitutional obligation for this? How are many so-called politicians are just an Engineer with Masters?? It seems you don't have any logic in your argument!!

#3 I am a great supporter of APJ, so I do support you here @ people's person ;-)

But, you have totally gone haywire here!! Don't bring in about IIT here as it has nothing to do with the Presidential candidate debate. It seems you are either completely ignorant about the IIT guys or a jealous person about the IIT-ians. How can you say that he doesn't know anything about Harvard, AIIMS, JIPMER, etc? (And, why should he know you tell me???) FYI, am an IIT-ian from KGP, studied double masters at CMU & MIT. And, have done my doctorate at MIT Labs on a fellowship from IBM Research!!!)

#4 BIAL issue was very murky, didn't you know what happened in that issue? That moron Deve Gowda has deliberately targeted Mr. Murthy - to make a big controversy. Why? He wanna gain political mileage out of that issue!! But Murthy sensed this & stepped back from the BIAL project itself!! Any sensible person would do the same. And, didn't you know what happened with Manjunath's killing (when he stood up against petro mafia?) What about the IIT-ian who got killed in the NHAI project (in Bihar I think)? What does these say? People like us put everything for the country - but get nothing!!! (you know, even to get the damn compensation, those poor families have to run from Pillar-to-Post!!!)

#5 You don't talk with any sense! Infact, I have heard for the first time @ he is manipulative. Is there any jealous factor inside you?? (I see only wrong in entire Murthy's career is - being an Indian CEO, doing a marketing campaign for Microsoft XP!!!)

#6 Now I can see *your* inner side!! No one things like IT guys are demi gods - except taking proud from the economic success & changing the lives of the very own Indian people !!! (otherwise, can you think of seeing the Global brands, food courts, outlets, etc. in such a big way without the IT success?). OK. If we are they are silicon slaves, then whose slave are you??

#7 Don't you know even Bill Gates was targeted by the people like you? (but reasons were different - and, am not talking about (Gates) MS ill business practises here, this would be a different debate). Computer Geeks are definitely better guys than people like you who are filled up with jealous & hatred (these are nothing but Poison!!). If people like Murthy are FD & CDRs - why don't you poeple like you try to raise to the levels of just being the connecters (motherboard)?? Do you have such ability? Or you just talk like a typical Indian (either in jingoism rant or political/regional madness?)

>> regards Jai Hind

Let better sense in the humans (Indians) prevail than this moronification!!!
