Murthy as President
by Charuchandra Nerurkar on Apr 09, 2007 12:36 PM  Permalink

With my due respect to both Dr. Kalam and Mr. Murthy, it is better to have a President who is familiar with the nuances of Politics in view of current trends of coalitions and hung Governments. However, respected Dr. Kalam was, there have been enough problems due to his decisions or lack of them.

NRN - A President ??? Pls dont kid yourself
by Suhas Dwarakanath on Apr 09, 2007 12:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Did anyone read what happened when President Kalam was in Infosys campus recently?
http://www.deccanherald.com/deccanherald/apr92007/state05631200749.asp

NRN said: National anthem could make foreigners at Infy uneasy
I really do not understand why NRN should feel that foreigners will be "embarassed" when we sing our national anthem! Will other countries stop singing their anthems just because there are a foreigners? This is outrageous and I think NRN owes the nation and its citizens an apology. Any Indian will be proud of his/her national anthem, and here we have "pseudo" Indian, thinking that singing our anthem "embarasses" a handful of foreigners. This shows that we are still the slaves that we were during the British rule. Shame on you, NRN!

And to think that he should be projected as the next President !
What an irony!
Suhas

Surely not ,if a person of his calibre and capacity who knows what to speak ,can utter such words with no respect to the national anthem has no right to be a leader of the country.
There are other ideal candidates as well viz. Mr.Ratan Tata , Mr. Brijlal Munjal ,Mr.Azim Premji , Mr. Kumarmangalam Birla , Mr. Adi Godrej etc etc.

But no Ambanis please...

Mukesh,

Everybody respects Mr. Murthy for his achievements and are of course proud of him. But all these do NOT stand when it comes to respecting National Anthem.

Singing OUR National Anthem doesn't mean disrespecting foreigners or putting them into uneasiness. For God's sake, it is OUR National Anthem.

This was NOT expected from Mr. Murthy.

Indian Prez don't have any power to play beyond these useless politicians' tricks. Why to discuss more on this issue. One who can deserve more to the country's security / economy shall be continued in that domain and guide future scientists / economists for betterment of country's bottom line. There is no need to make them useless by recommending for Prez post. Any experoienced politician, impartial, knows well abt constitution / having keen intrest in development of country's all areas / international issues shall be offered Prez this position.

>> Dr. Abdul Kalam should continue another term.
>> By no way should Naryana murthy bee even
>> considered in such online forums.

He is NOT interested for a second term, that's the whole problem is about!!! Why don't you open your eyes/mind and see the ground reality?? Well, my response to your questions:-

#1 This is highly annoying viral activity happening in India - just looks only count!! Am sure, something is terribly wrong with you. Looks doesn't matter - even APJ Kalam was criticized for the damn looks!! One should have the grand vision for the country, ambition to make those dreams into a reality!!!

#2 Is there any constitutional obligation for this? How are many so-called politicians are just an Engineer with Masters?? It seems you don't have any logic in your argument!!

#3 I am a great supporter of APJ, so I do support you here @ people's person ;-)

But, you have totally gone haywire here!! Don't bring in about IIT here as it has nothing to do with the Presidential candidate debate. It seems you are either completely ignorant about the IIT guys or a jealous person about the IIT-ians. How can you say that he doesn't know anything about Harvard, AIIMS, JIPMER, etc? (And, why should he know you tell me???) FYI, am an IIT-ian from KGP, studied double masters at CMU & MIT. And, have done my doctorate at MIT Labs on a fellowship from IBM Research!!!)

#4 BIAL issue was very murky, didn't you know what happened in that issue? That moron Deve Gowda has deliberately targeted Mr. Murthy - to make a big controversy. Why? He wanna gain political mileage out of that issue!! But Murthy sensed this & stepped back from the BIAL project itself!! Any sensible person would do the same. And, didn't you know what happened with Manjunath's killing (when he stood up against petro mafia?) What about the IIT-ian who got killed in the NHAI project (in Bihar I think)? What does these say? People like us put everything for the country - but get nothing!!! (you know, even to get the damn compensation, those poor families have to run from Pillar-to-Post!!!)

#5 You don't talk with any sense! Infact, I have heard for the first time @ he is manipulative. Is there any jealous factor inside you?? (I see only wrong in entire Murthy's career is - being an Indian CEO, doing a marketing campaign for Microsoft XP!!!)

#6 Now I can see *your* inner side!! No one things like IT guys are demi gods - except taking proud from the economic success & changing the lives of the very own Indian people !!! (otherwise, can you think of seeing the Global brands, food courts, outlets, etc. in such a big way without the IT success?). OK. If we are silicon slaves, then whose slave are you??

#7 Don't you know even Bill Gates was targeted by the people like you? (but reasons were different - and, am not talking about (Gates) MS ill business practises here, this would be a different debate). Computer Geeks are definitely better guys than people like you who are filled up with jealous & hatred (these are nothing but Poison!!). If people like Murthy are FD & CDRs - why don't you poeple like you try to raise to the levels of just being the connecters (motherboard)?? Do you have such ability? Or you just talk like a typical Indian (either in jingoism rant or political/regional madness?)

>> regards Jai Hind

Let better sense in the humans (Indians) prevail than this moronification!!!

Sukhoi I think you are the earliest version SU16 not the current SU 47 ! Well I never asked if you had a doctorate from MIT or not ( by the way there is also a MIT in chennai be more specific) ,The question is NRN is not a doctorate compared to our present president who is a doctorate in aero-nautical engineering.

Well that gives a cutting edge in understanding miliatry things etc as he is the chief of armed forces ( even aircrafts which might be ur area of interest I presume -sukhoi)

Let NRN remain a top computer guru and inspire and nourish many talents like you !

Though my posting was a little on the sarcastic side the point , NRN might not be the right candidate for President it requires more than Computers I am sure you would agree with me - IIT/MIT boss !

>> I think you are the earliest version SU16 not
>> the current SU 47

Hahaha, you keep thinking like that.....Su16 has never been made!! Only Su15 (Flagon) & Su17 (Fitter) were made (production models if I remember correctly!!) And nopes, am not the developmental Berkut (Su47) & it's not current one. There is another one which is currently developed (think u dunno)....am the fifth generation technology PAK-FA (jointly developed by Sukhoi Design Bureau & Mikoyan Gurevich (MiG) which would rival the F-35 (JSF), fifth generation US fighter!!)

>> Well I never asked if you had a doctorate
>> from MIT or not

I never intended show up, that was not my intension (even now you are so arrogant, I care less!!). I got upset for each & every silly reason IIT-ians are being targeted, this attitude is highly deplorable!

>> by the way there is also a MIT in chennai be
>> more specific

Hehehe, have a look at here what Indians have messed up:-

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/47498183.cms
http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles /2005/06/27/exporting_technology/

Now, what u say? What is that you are taking proud of (I would have been more happy if Media Labs Asia has gone to Japanese as per their earlier plans!! They are really much better than us, huh!!)

FYI, was from MIT Labs in Cambridge, MA (to be more specific!!!)

>> The question is NRN is not a doctorate
>> compared to our present president who
>> is a doctorate in aero-nautical engineering.

That's what am asking you - so what? How would that make him less or more? You don't want to respect people like NRN & show the arrogance in front of people like me (by saying I didn't ask you, etc.). What do you (people) think of yourself? What is that you wanted to prove here? Somnath Chatterjee is the right person??

>> Let NRN remain a top computer guru and
>> inspire and nourish many talents like
>> you !

Sigh! You got me wrong here - NRN doesn't nourish me!! Do you know I did meet Dr. Kalam when I was a kid?? Check out my response here, don't wanna type here again:-

http://www.rediff.com/news/2006/oct/10msg1.htm

Well, my first inspiration is my parents (dont wanna tell you why, else you would say am showing off!!!). Other inspirations are the great people like Ayrton Senna (great person whom I met him at Suzuka Circuit, Japan during my plus one days of 1988 - he set up a Guinness Record with 8 wins in that year!!). Currently I admire & get inspired by Valentino Rossi, etc in sports. There are many more like Jack Welsh, Sigmund Fraud, etc (can't type my own autobiography here!!)

>> even aircrafts which might be ur area of
>> interest I presume

Yep, I do have a CPL!! (started small at Hyderabad Flying Club in my teens, carried till Florida to get a license!!!)

>> Though my posting was a little on the
>> sarcastic side the point

That's my point, one doesn't need to be sarcastic about such people!! After all, these guys are much better than those (many) morons who are sitting in the Parliament !!! (hardly 10% politicians are sincere & hardworking)

>> NRN might not be the right candidate for
>> President it requires more than Computers
>> I am sure you would agree with me - IIT/MIT
>> boss !

OK. Let's take a stand here - we debate with a new thread - Why is NRN not the right candidate? Who is the right candidate?? (less the damn sarcasm & inflammatory attitude!!)

Or do you want me to explain in your own language @ presume you a Medical Doctor - now me won't show off how do I know Medical stuff (can even debate with you about surgical techniques & methods....hehe!!).

Lastly, never take the people who come to forums for granted - we don%u2019t need to talk in thin air by wasting the valuable time!!!

You have rights to comment only about whether he fits the bill or not. You have no rights to comment on his looks or physique.

Your comments are fine except for the first point which is highly discriminating and unacceptable. You have no rights to point out one's looks or they way he walks. This is like insulting the spastic or physically challenged across. B'cos you (might) have born without any physical challenges does not qualify you to comment about the rest of the world.

Do you think of yourself great looking ? Better look yourself into a long mirror. If not, buy one and look at your ugly attitude or arrogant character.

I hope you are doctor of medicine and earned your degree by your abilities. Comments such these from a doctor is highly disgusting. Better watch out or else it would attract some attention. You better apologize for about your comment on his looks.

How you do know what he/she is a medical doctor? Just because Dr. X, doesn't mean that a Medical Doctors (could be used by PhDs, and more funnily to confuse by co-called Honorary Doctorates!!).

Here in US, many people (like me) being PhDs don't really care for putting a Dr. X tag in our names!!!

Well my friend.. that's my assumption. As you rightly said, she/he might be a honorary doctor conferred by some universities too. My assumption may be wrong.

But what ever said and done, her/his comments about NRN's looks are highly condemnable.

Murthy will reduce presidential expenditure
by jeffpatel on Apr 09, 2007 12:32 PM  Permalink

How many people really know that all our presidents have been living in absolute maharaja syle luxury - the rashtrapati bhavan has 255 rooms, a staff of over 500 , is completely air-conditoned and even has an indoor swimming pool !!! The president also does not move out without an entourage of 12 luxury limousines every time - in a country where half the popualtion finds it difficult to have a square meal a day !

Kalam was useless as President.

Remember the Office of Profit Bill he signed mutely. One of the Biggest Shame of Indian Parliament. The power hungry politicians of Congress and Left ganged up, they were not ready to forego their chairs of power and money. They shed all ideolagical pretence and sent the bill a second time to Mr. Kalam and he signed !! Sonia Gandhi shamelessly took her office of profits after resigning and again getting reelcted as MP!!!

But Murthy could be different, but even he is not a 'Sheshan'

Under no cicumstances should our President be a politician of any party. He should only be an intellectual with high standing in the Indian Society. If needed we should pass a law to this effect immediately. I would prefer Narayana Murthy over any of these current breed of divisive, anti-national and run down politicians any day.
