Murthy is the right choice to sucsede Kalam at the present deteorating values in our peaple in general.As no.1 citizen a model in all aspects is desired.
First, i dont see why we are looking for an alternative if kalam is okay for 2nd tenure. Incase he says no, then i believe these top positions need to be taken by ppl who dont do business as i guess they can promote their business with the honorary post.

If you had meant Mr.Murthy: FYI, Mr. Murthy has retired from Infosys(officially). He might still have vested interests in that company though!

He is a citizen of India since his birth, we will let him decide it. All his money are hard earned. I don't think that he will indulge into any activity with personal motives behind it.

Making Infosys and Nirmala soshyalaya does not mean, he has done a lot for the country. Us is not going to make Bill Gates as President. Narayan Murthi is a good businessman, let him be there itself. Narayan Murthy is known only among Software Proffs who made money begging the projects from US. He has not done anything great for the country. This prestigious opportunity should be given to some one who can work for the country and shown the capability like Lallu Prasad Budhadeva Bhattacharya.

Of course, Naryana Murthy has done wonderful job in business sector and inturn contributed creation of jobs for the skilled unempoyed youth. Just because of this reason only we need not look Narayana murthy as a candidate for President of our beloved country. Our contry needs a person, like Abdul Kalam, who has long vision, charismatic personality, zeal for utilization of unutilized and underutilized man power. Also, he/she needs to have a say in guiding the government on what is wrong and what is right.
It will be very fine if Narayan Murthy's skills are utilized in the business development sector. We can have him as one of the Advisors for business development rather than as President!
Whether Dr. Kalam is our next President or Dr. N R Narayana Moorty, what difference will it make to the common citizens of India?
The post of President in India is just a powerless post. Our President is the Supreme Commandar of the three Armed Forces of Air, Navy and Army. Yet, what kind of control does he actually command being a Commandar???????
The President is the preson who administers the oath of office to our Prime Minister and the entire cabinet. Yet, what powers does he have to curtail they wrong doings? What can he doing to stem the apparent rottening of the legal system, our governing system et ell. What powers does the president have to control the misbehaving politicians? All the politicians have a good time playing on the issue of caste and religion and also caste based reservation in jobs and education. And all our president can do is endorse the bill passed by our parliament in this regard !!!!!!!!!!!!
Our President is the ultimate signing autority to make any bill into a law of the land. Yet, we have such outdated and ineffective laws, full of escape clauses and anyone can use the law to his own advantage. The entire judiciary system is in complete mess with cases pending for decades. What powers does the president have in this case????????
There was a huge cloud of excitement and hype when Dr. Kalam was made the President of India. We Indians proudly said that India has a Rocket Scientist as a President. Yet, what has changed for the common man? We still have rising inflation, crumbling infrastructure in almost all cities in India, power and water problems are rampant, poverty is ever increasing, health and primary education is not reaching the lower classes...........I can just go onoe and on.
I do not want to sound very pessimistic. I do believe that Dr. Kalam must have made a difference, but are we, the common citizens of India, aware of it? Dr. Kalam is a man of High Integrity and is indeed a valuable asset for Mother India. But what use is such an asset if it cannot be utilized effectively.
So friends and fellow countrymen, whether we have Dr. Kalam continuing in second term or we have Dr. NRN as our new President, what I ask for is a change for the better. More Effective Governence for the betterment of the Common Indian.
