1) What is the role of a president ? 2) what are the qualifications needed ? 3) In what way/s is Murthy suitable for that post?
Should we make a person president of India because he was successful or he is leading a simple life?
Before becoming president I want to ask MR.Murthy ? will he recurit a person in his company if that person doesnt have relevant experience, even If he was the only person who had come for thr interview ? ?

What relevant experience are you talking about? what about APJ, did he have some experience when he became the president? And what about the ministers in india? what qualification do they have? Dont we cast our vote and elect them?
Whether Dr. Kalam is our next President or Dr. N R Narayana Moorty, what difference will it make to the common citizens of India?
The post of President in India is just a powerless post. Our President is the Supreme Commandar of the three Armed Forces of Air, Navy and Army. Yet, what kind of control does he actually command being a Commandar???????
The President is the preson who administers the oath of office to our Prime Minister and the entire cabinet. Yet, what powers does he have to curtail they wrong doings? What can he doing to stem the apparent rottening of the legal system, our governing system et ell. What powers does the president have to control the misbehaving politicians? All the politicians have a good time playing on the issue of caste and religion and also caste based reservation in jobs and education. And all our president can do is endorse the bill passed by our parliament in this regard !!!!!!!!!!!!
Our President is the ultimate signing autority to make any bill into a law of the land. Yet, we have such outdated and ineffective laws, full of escape clauses and anyone can use the law to his own advantage. The entire judiciary system is in complete mess with cases pending for decades. What powers does the president have in this case????????
There was a huge cloud of excitement and hype when Dr. Kalam was made the President of India. We Indians proudly said that India has a Rocket Scientist as a President. Yet, what has changed for the common man? We still have rising inflation, crumbling infrastructure in almost all cities in India, power and water problems are rampant, poverty is ever increasing, health and primary education is not reaching the lower classes...........I can just go onoe and on.
I do not want to sound very pessimistic. I do believe that Dr. Kalam must have made a difference, but are we, the common citizens of India, aware of it? Dr. Kalam is a man of High Integrity and is indeed a valuable asset for Mother India. But what use is such an asset if it cannot be utilized effectively.
So friends and fellow countrymen, whether we have Dr. Kalam continuing in second term or we have Dr. NRN as our new President, what I ask for is a change for the better. More Effective Governence for the betterment of the Common Indian.

Most of the people may not be aware that as per the Constitution the role of President in our country is very limited. He is solely dependent on Cabinet/Parliament for running the country. He can put his views but cannot make it a law himself. Even for reducing capital punishment to a person, he has to rely on bureaucrats. The post of President is only a namesake - good for politically retired persons.
We all know President's post is a ceremonial post. Kalam did try doing something, but he does not control the beauracracy and so, everything he thought or wanted to do is still in his idea book. I guess it is a good way to honor Narayana Murthy by making him president. The motivations starts and ends there. Let us not expect anything more from this. Ofcourse, our netas whom we elect also should feel the same way....because me and you cannot vote for Murthy or Kalam.
Remember how much hope we had when Mr.Kalam became president? But what happened all these years ? Nothing. Was he able to do something good for the country? He has never in his tenure taken any tough decisions. Its not because of his personality but its the President's role to blame. In our country the president role is meant to be as a honour given to a person who has served our country someway or other, nothing different than a governer of a state. All they can do is enjoy the royal benefits for the rest of their life.

Ahoy! A patriotic Indian Mr NRN!!! One cannot but laugh at this, man of his stature giving such a dim-witted answer. He is glared by the stupendous growth of Infy, but all thanks Uncle Sam--neigh? It's the Globalization way, as a global citizen we all should be crooning anthems of our new found business friends. Is this the message he was trying to convey?
