Of course the kids should learn English. But Kannada MUST be made compulsory as the next language. Kannada is the state language. No two ways about that. I wonder what's the confusion all about?
Atleast till 7th kannada should be compulasory and english can be a second language. I think Government has taken a right decision by banning those schools in order to save a great language like kannada. In my sense English should tought as a language rather than medium of teaching. All kannadiga's has to co-operate and send their kids to kannada medium.
theres no reason to even debate abt this. u cant say one is more important than the other, but u cant ban one totally either!! teach both, just like i was taught Hindi, Marathi and English while studying in Bombay. classes were in english but we spoke in Hindi didnt we? why do politicians get their mundus in a bunch over idiotic things like this ... dont they have bigger problems to solve ... oh right that would require bribes and/or keeping promises *gasp*
by implementing compulsary kannada and closing english schools is undemocratic people must have choice to select to which school they must send their children.this will take karanataka to stone age
Most of you are passing your comments not knowing the issue.... people these schools had no licence to teach kids in English medium... they had licence to teach in Kannada medium but they were teaching in English.. which is not autorized and they were gettning benifits from govt. i think its rite to ban on them but not in the middle of an educational year..... iam against banning them in the middle may be next acmadic year yap i am with you govt. not now.
its really stupidity. god save india from this dirty politicians. english is a international anguage, we will only realise the importnace when we come to adavanced nations,regarding the quality of the language we speak and understand.nobody bothers about ones one language.it is good to know and learn mothertongue, but not by force or necessity. please open your eyes.think big.its 2006.stop all the stupid things.think of how to make chidren to give the best education so that they can take india to a new heights.
