After five years
by Mohanbir Singh on Sep 14, 2006 08:41 PM  Permalink

That President Musharraf has convinced the US and the West , that he only can prevent the mad mullah's who might fish out Nuclear tipped missiles from the Pakistani arsenal is one big lie. It's time that we call his bluff. I may be wrong, but in todays world , no mad Islamic fanatic will pull the trigger of the N.Weapons, without realising the outcome. They are just playing on the worlds fear factor. If they take such a step they know that the earth will explode and all their visions of Paradise will be blown to smithreens. Their rabid thinking has to be destroyed.

India is a soft state!
by K. S. Mayya on Sep 13, 2006 07:50 AM  Permalink

I think Mr.Ramananda is giving proof..rightly so. On the contrary...it would be interesting to see how we can prove that theory of India is a soft state...is wrong. I guess it is going to be hard..! India will continue to be a soft state for many years to come. We are at a stage where we are slowly forgetting imperialism. That imperialism came mainly due to infighting and this very infighting is still there and the result...we are a soft state. So the next question is how much long will we have to be attacked before we unify against our enemy(s)? And looking up to the west: here is the simple scene. A westerner approaches an Indian...and a conversation goes on..who will be polite and who will be aggressive in whatever conversation goes on...you guess it. It is very much in us...the inferiority complex. And 1 billion such people constitute a soft state called India.

fundamentalism is core problem
by ashish on Sep 12, 2006 10:37 AM  Permalink

I know many muslim friends of mine and I can say Islam as a religion always preaches human values , love and compassion.

but unfortunately it has been hijacked by some fundamentalist. whole world east to west , north to south and across the time and geography the cause of disturbance is same fundamentalism which at core of its heart want to eliminate other faiths and religion.

it takes shelter of Kashmir in india, palestine in middle-east , Chechenya in Russia , some-place in some different country and story goes on...

same fundamentalist element were best friend of USA when the needed training and logistics to fight Russian forces and now they are calling them infidels to extend their Jihad.

this fundamentalism was even centuries ago when there was no issue on Kashmir.

hence the stress should be on isolating fundamentalism rather than attacking entire community.

5 Years On: Scarred and scared
by VG on Sep 12, 2006 12:24 AM  Permalink

It's been really frustating and sometimes irritating over the past 5 years to see how the Indian media reacted to what happened in New York on 11/9. Agreed it's an inhuman and barbaric act but it's really disappointing to see the media reacting as though it's more of India's pain than America's. Be it TV: more so the increasingly irritating Indian TV news channels, newspapers, also Internet sites like even Rediff, everybody is just too exicited and feeling more pain just because it's American. The Americans continue to insult Indians at their airports and other places but we never give up feeling compassionate towards Americans. It can't be more embarassing than watching an Indian MP, a state's chief secretary and a DGP attending America's private function and standing shamelessly next to the American flag. God damn when will the time come when we all Indian realise and start respecting our identity; valueing our self-respect.

5 Years On After 9/11, Decades On With The Politics
by Deep M on Sep 11, 2006 10:57 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,
Thank you for the splendid article, one of the few on which majority of sensible Indians (excluding politicians, ofcourse) should come to a whole-hearted agreement.
But alas, would the politicians ever do anything about Pakistan and terrorism? Will they ever solve the problem with pseudo-securalism and the politics of the vote bank? Will the cancer known as Pakistan ever be taken by the horn and brought to justice? Or party after party, PM after PM will play the same nasty game and keep looking at the West\'s approval to solve India\'s own problem! When will this so-called \'bilateral issue\' ever get resolved? And why, in the first place, is it a bilateral issue. Isn\'t it India\'s sole and unilateral internal issue? If Kashmir is a bilateral issue then why shouldn\'t Baluchistan be a bilateral issue as well?
Too many questions, will there ever be a reply or an action...

Best regards,
Deep M.

Congress sold Hindus for votes
by Vijaya Kumar on Sep 11, 2006 08:11 PM  Permalink

Kashmir ethenic clensing for Congress votes was nothing compared to what Hindus have paid are still paying in Pakistan and Bangaldesh. USA which cries out as if it is the only one who suffered with Islamic frenzy is fully responsible for the creation of taliban, Mujahuddin, Pakistan funded terror, LTE and innumerable number of these made fellows. The Hindu scripres that describe KALI truly fit the preset conditions.
