72 suicides in Vidharbha
by Chetan Upadhyaya on Sep 06, 2006 05:37 PM  Permalink

This is really pathetic and the reason lies in our own double standards. On one hand, the people in the government supress the recommendations of the Kelkar Report and continue the tax-freedom for the farmers, while on the other hand, the farmers are not given the proper minimum support price, sufficient enough to sustain their lives. The politics of vote bank must stop at once. Take taxes from the farmers, but give them the PROPER PRICE at once.

It is more than enough now
by suhasnatyan on Sep 06, 2006 05:17 PM  Permalink

I have seen lot of countries, met lot of people and proud to be INDIAN. I am proud of my countrymen too EXCEPT few politicians who for their personal profit do not care of even our motherland too.

Why India which have such a good fertile land and is basically agricultral is letting her farmer sons living miserable life and even facing suicide. WHY,WHY??
Why even if its sons work hard, day and night in fields are not given the right amount they deserve. Why and when will it stop.

Back to Villages
by Srinand on Sep 06, 2006 04:56 PM  Permalink

Gandhiji told the youths - 'go back to the villages', and everyone showed their back to the villages. :-( It's high time that we concentrate on the backbone of the country.

Farmer's suicide
by Pankaj on Sep 06, 2006 04:41 PM  Permalink

Farmer's are doing suicide in this agricultural country india. After 59 years of independence still it is happening then what was the need for independence? What was the need for the freedom fighters to devote their life for this country?i think their martyrms have all been vanished. It is very shameful for us. But our Netas and Babus don't care for it. They are satisfied with the services which they are getting.
"A suicide after every five hours". This one is a case only for the vidarbha region. What about the other regions? Do u think the farmers in those areas are happy? NO, even they have also very worst situation. Even in the Green Revolutionary states Punjab & Haryana farmers are doing suicide. Who is responsible for it? our Gov't? our Netas and babus? oue system? or WE? Today there is a need of one revolution. There is no hope from the high class society that they will bring this revolution change because they are the controller of this system . Its only for the responsibility for Middle class and lower class to unite themselaves and to bring a revoltionary change in this society.
PLEASE THINK OVER IT.

Farmer suicides
by mhaisale on Sep 06, 2006 04:14 PM  Permalink

It is a matter of shame that India is talking of being global power when a farmer is commiting suicides at this rate. I would ask India Inc led by IT Czar Mr Narayanmurthy or Azin Premji whether these are citizens of India or not. Or is it that only shareholders and urban literates represents India in their eyes. It is a matter of shame for Indian Industrialists.
