Hail Justice
by Ashutosh Tripathi on Oct 31, 2006 04:15 AM  Permalink

Justice has finally made its own course, giving full hopes to other such cases like Jessica Lal murder case. The culprit deserved nothing less than the capital punishment which he got. There is nothing above justice.

Now Arundhati Roy and activist should raise voice not to hang him
by samanta on Oct 31, 2006 04:11 AM  Permalink

Now Arundhati Roy and her activists should raise voice NOT to hang Santosh Kumar Singh. They were acting a drama to save Afzal Guru's life who attacked Indian Parliament, centre of democratic institution and killed few security people. Where is Gulam Nobi Azad and pseudo secularists to save Santosh Kumar Singh's life although he is guilty of raping and murder?
Where is those muslims who was agitating to save a terrorist's life, now why donot they agitate to save another killer's life? Where is communits and anti-national Sonia Gandhi (who was happy after Rajib Gandhi's Assassination) donot want Afzal Guru's punishment? Where is their voice now?
"mera bharat sobkuchh mohan" for "criminals, vote bank, anti-nationals, hypocripts".

Influence of Hindi movies
by Nagendra Pratap Singh on Oct 31, 2006 03:32 AM  Permalink

It is actually the influence of the Hindi movies in which both the bad and good guys stalk the women they want.

Western countries have strict laws against stalking and tresspassing but India needs to do a lot

A bit too stringent
by Anti_Capital on Oct 31, 2006 03:10 AM  Permalink

Even though it is good to hear he has been brought to justice for such a vile crime, I think the death penalty is a bit too harsh. Capital punishment is not the solution to society's problems. If it is such a good deterrent why do other countries, such as the United States,Singapore,Malaysia etc etc. continue to have such crimes prevalent in their societies? Probably Solitary Confinement would have been better. Capital Punishment is NOT the way out, as many people would like to believe. How can the State or the Government to decide they can take away a person's life ? So its okay to murder people as long as its legal?

Execute
by Hari Kumar on Oct 31, 2006 01:26 AM  Permalink

These people should be executed right away to protect the innocent lives out there. Before they find some loopholes in the law or use their money, the execution should take place. NO CLEMANCY please!

India is a sick country
by Ashley Tellis on Oct 31, 2006 01:05 AM  Permalink

Once again, I am simply shocked at the baying for te blood of people. Yes, what Santosh did was heinous and terrible, but death penalty is not the answer. Life in prison is what he needs. On what grounds do you gain the right to take someone's life? What arrogance is this based on? It is well-proved in the US (that barbaric country which kills most people - mainly Black - through death penalty) that this does not deter crime and crime has only increased in the US. So, the determent argument is unfounded. India's new obsession with death penalty is not just indication of the arse-licking of the US it specializes in but also of the sickness at the core of middleclass India.

No a fair idea to let criminal live
by Ravi M on Oct 31, 2006 01:05 AM  Permalink

I strongly DO NOT agree with your view. Several serious offenders of law have a history of past criminal background they serve a few years in jail. And once they are out they end up committing more serious crimes. The whole ideal of Non-Capital, reformist kind of punishment has failed. There may be a few exceptional examples but those examples are not worth to avoid capital punishments.

A good decision
by Prashant Mishra on Oct 31, 2006 12:55 AM  Permalink

It is very dissappointing that women in our country suffer with such type of problems as Pryadarshini did, and it took 11 years to get justice. The Death punishment for Santosh, I think is not that tough, he must have been given a cruel decision, but we cant go beyond death. Therefore I appreciate the decision.
