Chkanguniya
by Dr. Abhaykumar V Shukla on Oct 10, 2006 05:27 PM  Permalink

Chikangunia has been affection large populations of Andhra, Tamilnadu, Maharashtra, Gujrat apart from recent cases in kerala and Delhi.
Effective treatment for this debilitating disease is not available. Extreme weakness and joint pains rendered lakhs of people unable to conduct daily lives.
No information regarding this spread has been forthcoming from official sources. There was no guidace was available to people regarding preventio or treatmet. Technically whether it could be called epedemic or ot is a moot question. It certainly aquired epedemic proportion.
Today there are reports on AASTHA chanel of quicker recovery and minimisation of pain by PRANAYAAM. It may be tried by people for whatever it is worth because no specific treatment of Chikengunia as such is availablle in modern medicine.

The sight of open lavoteries & waste thrown everywhere across the country has not only brought bad name to us but now the new diseases as well. The citizens have no concern for the surroundings that they live in & ease with which we get away for spreading filth is a slap on the face of civilsed world. We as a nation & Govt in particular will have to act tough against erring citizens & sanitaion officers to curb the menace of filth or soon we will earn the title of most filthy along with corroupt country.

reactive
by Avijeet Sinha on Oct 10, 2006 05:05 PM  Permalink

As a country we have always been used to be reactive and dont know the term proactive...
We always rely on alarm bells to sit up and take notice whether it is Militancy(ULFA,Naxals), Foreign Attack(Kargil), Diseases and Tragic Accidents(Haryana, T.N)...
We are lazy and so are our representatives.

Chikungunya
by Satya on Oct 10, 2006 05:04 PM  Permalink

I visited hyderabad last march for a wedding. The area, I live is highly manifested by mosquitoes.

I was infected with chikungunya and was admitted to the hospital just half day before i was to board a flight back to Saudi.

The govt is doing nothing, because politicans are busy making money in infrastructure, power and irrigation projects.

No one cares about the country.
